Sol and his Papa had traveled far across Sauti. Callum was determined to show his young son as much of his beloved homeland as he could before the boy eventually became homesick. It was no secret that the younger male loved the snowy mountains of Zena far more than Sauti, but Sol had to admit, the barren land had it's own strange appeal.

He just wasn't sure about it's festivals.

While his Papa prepared to perform, Sol hid out in the shade behind a dancer's tent. It was later in the evening; the time of day where the sun had yet to set, but without a fire's light making out clear images would be rough. With his cloak hood pulled up over his antennae Sol hoped to draw less attention to himself, though a cloaked figure was far from 'trust worthy'.

Who could not love the festivals? Faamy skipped around the tents and stalls, eyes taking in all they could. Here, she could get some more practice with her music and performing. See many others play, have many others see her~

When she saw the lone figure sitting in the shade of the blinding evening sun, she squinted slightly and cocked her head. Well, the last dark figure she'd run into had been interesting! "The sun ain't set yet," she called as she walked toward the figure, hands resting behind her back contently. "Whatchya doin' here all by yer lonesome?"

Sol peered up from the lip of his cowl towards the stranger. It wasn't often that others approached him, much less so when he gave off the aura of 'stay away' and kept his hood up.

He would have backed away, kept her from seeing his eyes, but there was no where to go. His back was already pressed against the tent, leaving his escape cut off.

So, he figured, he may as well answer her.

"What about you? Why are you out here?" He motioned with his head beyond them, towards the crowds. "Why aren't you with them?"

Faamy bent forward and cocked her head slightly. Was she seeing that face properly? Well, she wasn't so sure what she made of that. A shifter of some kind?

She was pulled from her thoughts at the questions, and she smirked lightly. "I asked ya first," she said playfully. "Not tha' it was nuthin' special. We all need a little 'lone time, right? Behsides, yer're proof that there're people out here ta be seen." Squatting down opposite from the shadowy boy, she let her smile brighten again. "A'ight! Yer turn. Why ya here by yerself?"

"...people to be seen, huh?" He gritted his teeth and looked up, turning his sharp, hoary gaze her way. Is that all that he was? Someone weird to be seen?

"Why should I tell you? Maybe I just want to be here."
Her smile was annoying and bright; like those little bratty kids that visited the village and pointed at his family just for being 'odd'. Too bright, too open; he hated it.

With the sharp tone, Faamy's smile fell the tiniest bit. Sounded like something had been taken the wrong way... but what had she said? "Yeah. I like seein' everyone. ..Usually, they like seein' me, too." She couldn't help a small pout at the end of her statement.

"Well, if ya jus' wanna be here, that's all ya gotta say," she replied, tipping her head. "Don't gotta give away any nitty-gritty details ta me. This here's a festival though. A time fer fun an' company." She let her smile soften and cocked her head. "Guess I shoulda greeted ya with a song like I normally do with strangers~"

"Or making fun of company." Sol groused, crossing his arms over his chest. He may have been young, but he was tall, thanks to his alkidike blood. And there was no doubt that if he trained enough he could be a toughie one day; if he ever chose to be.

Ignoring all of her pleasantries, Sol shook his head, knocking the hood fully back. It fell away from his antennae, which stretched up to their full height and exposed his bright hair. "Are you talking to me because of some kind of dare? Because if you are it isn't funny."

Brow knitting, Faamy's head cocked the other way. "Making fun of company?" she repeated softly, utterly confused. "Someone sure is grumpy fer bein' at a festival," she teased.

Of course, the pieces finally clicked into place as the figure was more fully revealed, her eyes widening slightly with wonder. Well, that was a different sort, but a cutie nonetheless! A dare? Now Faamy was really pouting. "Why ya thinkin' so little o' yerself?" To make her point, she leaned back and dropped to sit on the ground as well, arms crossing under her chest. "An' what're ya doin' thinkin' so little o' me? 'cause yer're right. Thinkin' I came over fer a dare ain't funny at all."

She said that like he wasn't usually grumpy. Which, in all actuality, he wasn't. He just didn't have much of a tolerance for strangers, as it turned out...

"I'm not."
He groused. "I like myself, I just don't- wait, what?" One minute he was being chastised and then the next...he was being told he was right?

Sol reached up to rub his now aching temple. "Don't you have someone else to bug? A boyfriend, girlfriend, sibling...enemy?"
PostPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2016 10:35 am

"Ye are, too!" she scolded, huffing slightly. "Thinkin' someone'd only come over on a dare ta see ye ain't thinkin' anythin' good o' yerself."

Bug... Glancing at the antennae, Faamy tried hard to keep from snorting with amusement. However. Boyfriend.. Girlfriend.. Sibling.. Wow. She never stopped to think about how alone she was... "Enemy? Who's got time fer enemies?" she said quickly, smirking and waving her hand to chase away the dark cloud that had nearly formed. She stuck out her lower lip. "Why ye hangin' 'round a festival if ye don't like people?"

"My Papa is getting ready to perform. He might already be, I'm not sure." He looked towards the right, out in the vague direction of the gathering crowd, thankful that his pupil-less eyes wouldn't show it.

Sol came to see the performers, the dancers and singers, but...that also meant he would have to traverse the crowds, which wasn't something he looked forward to.

"Yer pa's a performer?" She cocked her head slightly again, pausing a moment. "Ye don't sound too pleased. Why don'tchya go watch 'im?"

"He's a sword dancer." Even after all these years it was still an odd thing to say. Sol had grown up with his father's both being warriors; fighters for hire, men who did what they had to for their family, and now one was performing for crowds. Ultimately his family was better off for it, what with Callum being home more and healthier, but still...

Sol fiddled with a lock of long, blond hair that had fallen over his shoulder. He messed with it anxiously. "Well...it's mostly because I don't...like crowds." People looked at him weird when he was on his own; at least around his family he wasn't the only oddball.

A sword dancer! Now that sounded interesting! Crowds... "What if we stood ta the back?" she asked. She stood and brushed sand off from her seat before holding a hand toward the boy. "Fewer people, most of 'em focused on yer pa. If yer pa's anywhere as cute as ye're, I'd like ta see. I'll need ye ta show me how ta get ta the righ' stage though, so I don't go missin' it."

"We?" He quirked a brow up and looked at her skeptically. For a moment he just watched her rise, looking at her hand with a mix of hope and confusion. Why was she being so friendly to someone she barely knew? It just didn't make sense.

And yet...Sol reached for her hand and pulled himself up to his feet. "He's taken, you know," He may have cracked a grin as he used his free hand to pull his hood back up. Once it was properly situated back on his head Sol pointed towards the south, past a few collected tents. "Through there, behind the fortune teller. You'll know it's him when you see lightning sparking off a sword."
