Sol meandered outside of the inn with a lazy stride and his hood pulled tight over his head. His father was currently busy setting up a new job, which meant he would be gone for the better part of the day, leaving the young teenager to his own devices.

Which...wasn't exactly welcome, in Sol's book. There were more windlings here than in Zena, but the odd looks the pure bloods gave him were still the same. Those same curiously scalding eyes and gossiping tongues...

Back in his home village he had been safe, if not a little sheltered, from the world beyond. The area had been small, and the wilds beyond filled with more beasts than earthlings so the sudden influx of people...Well, it left little to wonder as to why he was seeking shelter in the shade outside.

Of course, that had nothing to do with his innocent curiosity regarding a certain young woman fluttering about with her friends. He pegged her for a traveler, a nomad, with eyes as bright as ice itself. And she had no clue that he was watching her...

Callum might have been busy but Ming'we was not. So when she noticed that her nephew wasn't inside the Inn she went out to look for him. It took her a few minutes but when she did she walked over to him. "Who we watching?" She asked as she draped one arm over his shoulders.

The blonde blinked her pure blue eyes and did her best to focus on the one that might be keeping Sol's attention. Sadly her vision wasn't what it used to be so all she saw were somewhat defined blurs. She knew enough details to know that there were girls and they were wind. Anything of the finer quality she would need to be closer for. Ming regretted that she had crippled herself in such a manner but there was nothing she could do about it now.

Though something else worried her. Was Sol old enough to show interest in girls? Ming tilted her head slightly and brought her gaze down to him as she clucked her tongue and gave a hrm.

Sol had been so lost in his daydreams that the sudden appearance of his aunt nearly caused him to scream. He did jump, however, nearly twisting away from her before Ming'we's identity sunk into his brain.

Then he thought on her question, and was suddenly very glad he had such dark skin, since a flush had started up that crept from his neck to the tips of his ears. After a while he pointed out one girl in particular; a young little thing, roughly around his age, in a pair of loose pants and a tight top. "...I think her name's Irma."

At least, that's what he'd overheard. The fifteen year old hadn't done more than take sneak peeks at her since she'd arrived with her group earlier that morning, but those little peeks had been enough to spark some kind of interest.

When he jumped she couldn't help the small chuckle that left her. Apparently he was staring hard enough to not be aware of his surroundings. Ming'we gave a bit of a smirk. "You know these aren't for decoration, right?" She pointed toward his antennae playfully.

Then he was pointing out the girl that he seemed smitten with and she nodded her head. "Ah, but I think my little star is too young for girls, hm." Ming thought about pulling him away but didn't think he would like that. Instead she gave a sigh. "Not playing with Sev today?" The blonde was clearly trying to find something else to interest her nephew.

He halfheartedly swatted her hand, his traitorous antennae choosing that moment to flicker. For just a moment he looked at her, something between bemused affection and annoyance flickering on his face, before turning back to look at Irma-

-before he was being pulled away. "I am not too young." He groused, looking over his shoulder at the young windling even as Ming tugged him away. When he noticed that Irma was now watching him as well he hurriedly turned around, pulling the hood of his cloak further down as if to shield his face.

"She's asleep." It's how he trained her. Sev was most active when the sun was down, which was the best time to sneak out and go wherever he wanted to without Papa or Baba breathing down his neck. "Where are we going?"

Seeing his antennae twitch at that moment made her laugh and when Sol decided that walking with her was better than being stared at himself she couldn't help but grin. "Why do we have to go anywhere? Am I not allowed to want time with my nephew?" Ming'we tried to play the innocent aunt card.

"Now, why would Sev sleep during the day? It's beautiful out." She had half a mind to go wake the beast up and make Sol play with her in front of the girls. But the more she thought about it the more she realized that it might make them want to talk to him since a raptrix was always fun to pet. So no, Ming would not do that. "Where did your dad get away to?" Distract him with questions! Yes, that would keep his mind off girls.

"She's always been a little off. I just think of it like a quirk." He said it so off hand that it may as well have been the truth. Sol wasn't completely lying, after all; his raptrix had always been different than most, but at the very least she was loyal.

And didn't do anything to out him to his family.

"Papa said he was going to try to set up a performance. That's what he does these days; sword dancing." There was less tension between his parents down on the topic of work. Now that Callum wasn't tracking down strange beasts just to fight them, and subsequently having his a** kicked, Baba seemed to have calmed. It also left Callum a little lighter than he had been during Sol's childhood; well, the years he had been there, anyway.

"...what do you do? Are you a hunter? A tracker or...?"

A quirk? Well Ming supposed it could be that. Then she heard the answer to where Callum had gotten off to. Learning that he did sword dancing now made her smile. How fitting. Perhaps she should try to see the show if it was arranged.

When she heard Sol ask her about what she did she could have sworn she felt her antennae droop. But no, they were gone. Ming'we frowned a little and looked away from her nephew. "Ah.. I used to hunt." She had been decent at it too. Sadly her eyes were starting to fail her as she got older. "Now I mostly stay home." The plants she was able to grow produced enough food to keep her fed as well as put some coin in her pocket. Ming'we was no where near rich but at least she was surviving.

Not wanting the mood to sour she looked back at Sol and smiled before she reached up to poke him in the nose lightly. "And what about you, little star? What will you do?" She was curious to know what he felt like being.

Ah. Sol shuffled his feet, feeling pretty low for not realizing what kind of impact such a simple question could have. Of course her work would have been effected by her worsening eye sight..."That just means we'll be able to visit more. If you traveled a lot we might not get to see you as often." It was a pretty paltry perk, but he was trying.

He furrowed his brow, and swatted her away from his nose. "I don't know. Hunt, I guess." It's what he'd been doing for years, so Sol just assumed that's what he would do for the rest of his life. Ever since he was small he would sneak out and explore the woods with Sev. Long before he had even had a spear of his own he had learned to track, but now that he thought about it, was that something he wanted to do forever?

"It's stable. I can sell fur, and eat the meat." He shrugged, seemingly already resigned to his lot in life at fifteen.

She gave a chuckle and nodded her head at his words. "Yes, I suppose you can come visit me whenever you like." It would be nice to have them stop by.

When he mentioned that he was likely going to hunt as well she blinked. "Oh? What weapon do you like?" She obviously had her crossbow, but he could use a normal one or some blades. Then she noticed that he almost seemed resigned. This made her tilt her head slightly to one side. "Was there anything else that you thought about?" Maybe he wanted to be like Cal? Whatever it was she was sure it would be good.

"You could train beasts if you wanted." She had almost suggested something in the Alkidike paths but she had remembered Callum speak about how he and his love had had issues of their own with the amazons. So she left it alone.

"I've been practicing with a spear since I was small."
In an area like theirs it would have been neglectful not to teach the children how to defend themselves. Hunting came as second nature after a while, with tracking running as a close third.

"Beasts...?" Sol shook his head with a little snort. "I can't even get Sev to sit." He wrapped his arms around his waist subconsciously, wrapping them loosely around his leans torso. "I guess I haven't given it much thought. I don't like traveling very much, and the only thing that makes sense to do back home is hunt."

He enjoyed watching dancers, he was Callum's son after all, but he didn't ahve the same need for attention as his Papa. Nor did he have the sheer strength his Baba carried. His sister was a sharp shooter, his grandmothers were traders...which left him somewhere in between all of it.

A spear huh? Well, that was a good weapon. Ming wouldn't be able to use it. More than likely if she tried she would hurt herself and not her opponent. She wasn't one for long reaching weapons. Long range, like a bow, was a different story.

As Sol told her that he couldn't control Sev she chuckled. Well, some beasts were harder to deal with than others. "Ah well, don't worry, it'll come to you." He still had plenty of time after all. And since there was no call for fighters to go to war it wasn't like he was being forced to pick right now. "So..." Ming'we felt awkward. Here she was, supposed to be an aunt and she didn't even know how. "You and your dad travel to Sauti all the time?" She gave a visible wince at her pathetic attempt to keep conversation going.

"He used to travel more when we were younger. My sister wanted to get out, but I never did. Then after Oba-" Sol closed his lips with a firm scowl. He'd almost said too much. The boy didn't know how much his father had told Ming yet, and didn't want to be the one to say it.

"This is actually my second time in Sauti. I can't even remember the first time, though; I was too small."

There was something ingrained inside of Callum that made him happiest when he was roaming. Something innately nomadic that hadn't been passed down into his son.

"I...like it better than Jauhar." He added lamely. At least it was cooler here. And there were no bratty teenagers ready to kick him away.

Sol stopped himself but it was too late. Ming heard the word. Oba. She grew concerned then and looked at her nephew for a moment but remained silent about it. It took her a moment to form any type of reply. "Ah, well Sauti is a beautiful place. Your father and I grew up here." One of the better times in their lives. "I will agree with you there." The wind territories were much better than Jauhar in her eyes. Of course she was biased. Jauhar had been the place where she had almost lost her life.

Then the hybrid woman changed the subject back to what it was that Sol had almost let slip. "What happened in Oba?" If her suspicions were right then it had something to do with all the new scars that Callum had. Ming'we wasn't happy to see those markings on him but there was nothing she could do about it. What she could do was learn about what happened. If Sol was willing to tell her. "Were you hurt in Oba as well?" She saw no scars but some weren't always visible.

"That's what he said. He seems a lot happier when he's here, but he'll never leave Zena, not so long as Baba wants to stay." Of course Sol knew that his parents would give the world for the other, but Baba had a larger family in Zena than what Callum had in Sauti. It had proven a better, safer area to raise their little family, so for the time being they stayed, though Sol had to wonder, for how much longer...?

He wasn't expecting her to go back to Oba, and honestly, Sol wasn't ready for it. His opaque eyes widened, and like a moracker he moved a few steps away from her, darting his eyes anywhere but towards Ming. "Nothing happened in Oba. Nothing happened, and...you shouldn't ask about it." Sol flat turned away from her then, and tried to move away, back towards the interior of the inn.
