It's a few hours before trick-or-treaters come knocking, and you've accidentally eaten all your candy for the kids! You knew you shouldn't have bought your candy a week early - and it was the good kind, too! All the stores are probably out...what are you going to do?

"Mom," she shouted from beside the bowl that say in the hallway by the door. "There's no more candy left. The bowls empty."

"What," he mother called her voice filled with irritation as she came into the entryway and frowned. "How exactly did a whole bowl of candy disappear?"

Ashleigh shrugged, she herself had only snuck a few pieces, "I dont know. I only ate a little. Asked the boys, I bet they ate a lot."

Her mother peaked into the living room where a number of children sat waiting for the time when they could go out and trick or treat. Her older sons were taking Leah and Dae and a few friends out to trick of treat, but it seemed the group had managed to demolish all the candy she'd bought in the mean time. She saw many wrapper lying around and frowned.

"That candy was for the trick or treaters," she said huffing, "now what am I suppose to give them. I can see if you dad can go, out but if he doesn't find anything, you all are cleaning up the mess if we get teepee'd."

Ashleigh giggled and grinned at her mom, "we could make the candy and caramel apples early! We were going to make them after trick or treating, but we could make they for the trick or treats. We have extra apple because we were going to do bobbing and you have lots of extra hand to help you."

She looked into the living room, eyeing her brother, their friends and her own. So they wouldnt get to bob for apples, no biggie, making candy apple would be fun.

"I bet dad could find more of the fixing too, easier than candy," Dae chimed him coming up to stand with his sister. The rest of the kids were getting up eager to help and for something to do other than watch tv or play phone games.

"Alright," her mother said looking at the small army of helpers, "everyone wash your hands and lets see if we can find you some old t-shirts so you dont ruin your costumes."

Leah cheered and grinned up at her mother, she of course had an ulterior motive because caramel apples were here favorite and she would pick them over candy any day. She rushed off to wash her hands and hurried back into the kitchen where her mother was setting up an assembly line to wash apples, get the sticks in and man the stove.

She quickly took a place so she could candy the apples having done it before. Her brother Chris filed in beside her, along with one of her friends from school. This was quite an adventure and she was so excited, even with all the chatter and kid in the kitchen thing got under way and they worked it out.

Her dad had gone out and had to search quite a few stores, but he did come back with candy for the trick or treaters. The kids all looked a little disappointed, but her mother said she would still give out the apples.

Leah looked to her dad, "did you bring more candy apple mix, we still have like a dozen apples left."

He laughed and presented her with more apples and more mix, "Did you know you can make them purple now and they have edible glitter you can add to the mix."

He had a few set of eyes turn on him and Dae grinned, before shouted "Experiment time! I saw something like that on youtube."

Leah laughed and came up to her dad, "thank you, hide the extra ones you got to bobbing. Everyone's going to be so excited." She looked at him with knowing eyes and grinned her newly teenage grin at him before getting back into the assembly line.

"Alright everyone, back to work," she said like a general commanding her troops.
