Quote: This is Destiny City, full of weird happenings, strange people, and one of a kind monsters. You’re used to youma, probably, even if you don’t know what they are. Trick or Treating is getting more and more dangerous every year; are you making any precautions to keeping the neighborhood kids safe? Or are you banking on carelessness to get some extra energy? “So like, I look like a witch, right? That means I fit in really well with Halloween going on. And maybe you do to. I dunno, you could be some kiind of fighter or something. Or just dressed up like a Negaverse agent. But anyway, here’s my idea - I could totally get one of our Negaverse kitties since a bunch of them are black, and keep them around with like, a broom or something, and then just hang out with a whole bowl of energy draining candy. Most people will just think I’m in a convincing costume, you know? And since I’d be close to the street, like on a bench of something, and there could be a decoration or two around they figure it’s just some kinda elaborate Halloween thing. Then they take the candy and their hyper kids give their energy to the Negaverse.
„I mean, it’s pretty simple, but I think it’s a good idea? The problem is, I dunno how to make something drain energy for me. And Shale’s still off in the woods doing his weird thing, but I’d rather as you anyway. So will you help me out?“ Slate kept his palms together as if pleading, and hoped the display would win a show of graciousness from Porsha. He knew she wanted to hand out candy this holiday, and he did too, but his devotion to the Negaverse took precedence over watching a couple of brats smile every time they got a piece of candy.
„Or, I mean, you can totally dress up too. Maybe that would work better. I dunno.“ Lenore leapt atop the couch with him and promptly claimed his lap in her typical assertive style. After turning about exactly five times, she settled into position and he started petting her.
„But if you have any other ideas, I’m opening to hearing them. I just think this holiday could be really good for us, you know? All these kids are hyper anyway, so we might as well siphon some of that energy off for our own needs. And, I mean, I’m pretty sure their parents would thank us. Like, those kids will actually be going to bed at a decent hour instead of running around the house all hopped up on sugar. Or something. At least, that’s what the internet says they do when they’re getting, uh…“ He paused, though not in petting Lenore, and glanced at the bags on the table. „Hershey’s, Reese’s, and all that other stuff.“

Porsha was sitting with her back cradled between the back and the arm of the futon, her legs folded in front of her, and a light blanket draped over her shoulders. Slate, sitting beside her, had her full attention, as well as an amused, endeared smile. He was always so animated when he was excited, and now was no different. It was one of the things she liked best about him, what had originally had her looking at him as more than just Shale's younger brother. "Actually," she spoke up as he'd finished his idea pitch. "We could probably just use Lenore. It's not like she'll go wandering." Especially not is Slate was there for her to sit on, or beside. The cat had taken an immediate shining to both brothers, and she had little doubt that she'd behave herself and stay close. Besides, she had a harness Po could put on her. "She's not all black, but that shouldn't matter too much, right?" She gave the cat a small scratch behind the ear as she rolled up to her feet, letting the blanket fall off her shoulders, then reached down to catch Slate's chin between thumb and forefinger so she could tip his head up, bending to lay a kiss on his lips. His idea was a clever one, and it'd work brilliantly, she had little doubt of that. Usually, Porsha was pretty reluctant to do much that could hurt kids. There wasn't much she wouldn't do, but that was crossing the line a bit. However, Slate was right. The kids running around tonight would all have an over abundance of energy, a little off the top wasn't going to hurt them. Besides, it wasn't going to require much more work than passing out candy would normally. Crossing to the counter, Po grabbed a paper from the counter and held it up to him. There was a jack-o-lantern on it. "They passed these out up and down the block to all the businesses and apartment complexes. You put them in the window at street level to let the kids know you'll be passing out candy." They could set up in the lobby, or even right outside. She handed it to him as she walked past him towards the hall. When she came back out a few moments later she was dressed in a rather traditional witch outfit, striped stockings and all. "But, if you're going to be a witch, I think you need a hat." Grinning, she took the hat off her own head, setting it on his. "There we go."

“Yeah, you’re right. I was just thinking that having one of our cats might be good since they can dampen signatures and stuff. Maybe keep the senshi off of us for longer, you know?“ He liked Lenore plenty, and didn’t think her a bad idea to take along at all - perhaps it lent them more of a disarming look to passersby - but this plan was also an exercise in thinking like a real Negaverse officer. If he wanted to advance among his peers, he needed to prove he could handle himself - and others.
The kiss wasa well-received and reciprocated heartily. Porsha proved herself as much more than just a general, and he considered himself lucky for all of it. The Negaverse (especially Porsha) offered him endless opportunities, from escaping the life he felt lukewarm about to giving him goals and reasons to better himself. Long gone were the days of hating the organization, and often he couldn’t recall quite clearly why he objected to it in the first place. Part of him wanted to blame it on sibling rivalry, but he knew that answer proved false. Whatever it was, it wasn’t important anymore.
Slate tried to scoot closer to her, but between Lenore and Porsha’s rising, that plan failed. He wasn’t disappointed, however; soon Porsha handed him an ugly-looking squash and he puzzled at it thoughtfully. He wanted to ask what it was, but iddn’t want to expose his own ignorance about the holiday. „Oh, okay, so we just need to keep this thing around us then? Um…“ Biting his lip, he considered their options. „So, should we stay in the lobby? I mean, we get less kids that way, but we’re also not immediately visible to any senshi that come by… And I think maybe caution is a better idea right now.“ The Rift invasion never left his mind for long.
When Porsha provided him the proper wide-brimmed hat, he grinned. Reaching up, he touched the tip of the hat and pulled it up a little for a better view of her. Porsha was never hard on the eyes; she always managed to look good in anything she wore. Idly he wondered if it was some kind of human magic that some of the people around here possessed.
„Oh, uh, I’ll get the bowl.“ Standing up (and subsequently disappointing Lenore), Slate scurried toward the kitchen where a newly-washed plastic candy dish awaited him. Spiders and their webs covered the outside, and inside he left a small nest of fake cobwebbing. After pouring the candy in, the bowl became a considerably heavy icon of Halloween deliciousness. „Okay, then we just need to uh, hmm. Yeah, I dunno how to make candy drain energy, but I can just hand them out to the kids and do it that way.“ Simple enough, he decided.
„Ready to go?“

"Good point, though it might be hard to enlist a cat on short notice." They could try, but they might not have much luck. Ah well, they'd just have to be careful. With just slate powered up, it was less likely they'd draw unwanted attention. If they did, well, it wasn't as if she wasn't going to be right there. He'd only have to hold his own for a moment, and she'd be able to slip away and power up herself so she could provide back up. As for staying in the lobby, it was sort of a toss up as to what would be safer. Inside they'd be less immediately obvious, but they might also draw unwanted attention to the building. Six of one, half a dozen of another. Inside they' be warmer. Leaning, arms folded against the island, she watched as Slate got the candy bowl ready. The spider web was a nice touch, it'd match the webbing she'd had put up in the lobby. There weren't a lot of decorations, but what they did have looked pretty nice. "That sounds like it'd work alright." And draw less attention than if she enchanted the candy itself. "Let's go."

“Oh…“ Ochre never considered the difficulties of obtaining a cat, or even went so far as to consider how he’d get one. ‚I didn’t think about that.“
The modus operandi decided, Slate tucked the bowl under one arm while he opened the front door for Porsha. Lenore naturally looked interested, and Slate figured Porsha would harness her before she could get into any trouble. „I figure I’ll power up down in the lobby. There’s plenty of places to hid down there.“ He knew this for certain - and Ochre grew very adept at hiding in said places for transformation.
„It’s gonna be so weird to drain energy this way. I mean, you’re staring them in the face and they just don’t get it… Oh well, that doesn’t stop the Negaverse from needing the energy. After you,“ he finished.
Senshi interruptions or no, the evening guaranteed the bizarre.beejoux this can be a fade to black close if you like - i don't have any ideas for addressing the candy handout part and avoiding it becoming a grind

Po grabbed Lenore's harness off a hook beside the door as she walked out into the hall, the cat at her heels, then stooped down to slip it on as slate closed the door behind them. Unlike most cats, Lenore was perfectly content with the harness, though Po had to scoop her up in her arms to carry her down to the lobby. You could take a cat for a walk, but very seldom could you actually lead one in any direction other than the one they wanted to go in. "It's a shame there aren't more holidays like this to exploit. It's easy, but you can only take a little bit at a time, or you start drawing unwanted attention. The only reason it's worth it is because of how many kids you can siphon from tonight." It reminded her of the convention Bischofite had set up some years ago. There'd been a similar plan in mind, but on a grander scale. Unfortunately, that had gotten crashed by the white moon. Such killjoys. As they headed for the stairs, Porsha slipped her hand in Slate's, lacing her fingers with his.
