It’s Halloween. You’re expecting spooky things. Plastic insects, cotton cobwebs--these things don’t bother you. Except, there’s a huge spider, right in front of you. Or maybe it’s on you? It’s big, and fast, and has a strange marking on its backside. You’ve never seen it before, and even the internet can’t tell you what it is. Eight evil little eyes are planted on you, and judging by those little leg twitches...it’s getting ready to attack…

Arseno watched from the roof top down below, the civilians going by a bit more quickly now that it was colder. He and Crocoite were supposed to meet up here so they could go and do some energy draining and possibly some starseed stealing tonight. Arseno was glad for his outfit though, it kept him nice and warm while he waited on the rooftop.

It had been a while since he had done anything and he was a bit eager to go out and do some more work for the Negaverse again. After looking over the side of the building for a bit longer he moved back and stood up, looking around and trying to sense if Crocoite was on his way.

Crocoite was actually glad to meet up with another Negaverse soldier, and rather liked the one he had accidentally tried to attack in his shop. He was not great with 'friends', but having allies was good, and he wanted to be able to work with other people outside of Painite. He was getting the impression that she was not the most 'involved' with the actual Negaverse, and was largely doing her own thing. Crocoite could not yet teleport, so he had to hoof it to the meeting spot, but got there in a timely enough manner. He sensed that Arseno was already there, and assumed the other would feel him coming up soon. He climbed up to the roof top, nodding his head politely at the other Lieutenant. "Good evening," he said, standing with his arms behind his back.

Arseno smiled a bit underneath his mask as he felt his fellow lieutenant come closer. Sure, the guy was most likely a serial killer, but he at least didn’t seem to be too bad when it game to Negaverse agents. The Negaverse had to get the starseeds somehow.

Arseno nodded back at him. “Good evening. Ready to get going?” He asked. Sure, he was nice and warm, but his ears were starting to get a bit cold. He needed to get his blood going a bit so that his ears wouldn’t freeze off.

“There doesn’t seem to be too many people from what I’ve seen. We can find some easy targets tonight.”

"Of course. I'm looking forward to it," he said, with a tone in his voice that probably did not go too far to relieve the other's feeling that Crocoite was a serial killer in training. It was probably closer to the truth than Robert, or rather Crocoite, wanted to admit just yet. He needed more power before he could be an effective anything, murderer or otherwise. Nights like this, then, would go far in helping him do that. "Easy is a good way to go, I think. Come on, let's get to the prowl, hm?" He chuckled, thinking that maybe he should have a little fun with things for once. He never stopped to enjoy the little things any more, too serious about work. He motioned and then hoped down off the roof, into the alley below.

Well, it didn’t seem as though Crocoite was going to be any different tonight, but Arseno would just have to get used to it. He seemed quite excited though and as much as he didn’t want to admit it, so did Arseno.

So, following the other’s lead, he jumped down into the alleyway and landed behind Crocoite. However something seemed… off in this alleyway. He couldn’t exactly pinpoint it but it gave him a bad feeling.

Crocoite was content to take the lead, not doubting that he would follow behind him or even hurry to catch up. He stopped, though, when he got a crawling feeling. It was familiar, on the back of his neck, and he looked back at Arseno. "Do you have a personal Youma?" It felt like something was watching them, hunting. Youma often brought that feeling out in him, and he rather disliked it. He was not sure he would ever want a youma 'of his own', though if there came to be a use for it then he could always change his mind. As it stood... they were creepier than even Crocoite himself. The youma in question scratched its limbs against a wall, though it was hidden behind a trash can and did not yet leap from its hiding spot.

It seemed that Crocoite was willing to take the lead and Arseno let him. The other probably had a bit more experience than he did when it came to getting good targets. But he couldn’t help the ominous feeling he was getting from the alleyway. Before he could mention it however, Crocoite mentioned it.

Well it seemed that Crocoite had sensed it too, though he seemed to more easily identify Youma than Arseno. “Not at this point.” He replied, looking around to see if he could catch wherever the Youma was. He tried to get in a ready position in case it leaped out to them suddenly, but not knowing where it could come from it was hard to get himself ready for it.

And besides, why would a Youma attack them anyway? They didn’t go after negaverse agents… right?

The youma opted to climb up the side of the wall when Crocoite, thinking he was not scared and stepping toward the trash can to look, got too close. He was immediately stopped in his tracks when he saw the spider emerge, though, and it crawled up the wall slowly. It paused, as if sensing them and getting a better guage of their intentions, but Crocoite was stiff and looking a little pale. He, as it turned out, absolutely hated spiders. Murder and bloody? Fine. Monsters and torture? Great. Spiders? No. No thank you. GIANT spiders? He was already considering moving to a new state. "Uh. Arseno," he said quietly, as if worried he might draw the spider's attention despite already having it. "Do you think you might, per chance, be able to take care of this... creature... for me?"

Arseno was startled a bit as he finally saw the Youma reveal itself. It was a giant spider. Great. That’s just what they needed. If he had to he would fight it and was about to do so when he heard Crocoite and looked at him, making sure to keep an eye on the Youma. “… Seriously? I mean it is a giant spider but it seems to be a low level youma. We can beat this easily.” He said, quietly also so he wouldn’t cause the Youma to attack. But then he saw the other’s face and it dawned on him.

“Wait… are you seriously afraid of spiders?” He asked, still in a whisper. Though he was holding back laughter. Sure, he could laugh at the lieutenant who regularly stole starseeds from people and seemed to enjoy it because of a common fear, but he also was trying not to get on Crocoite’s bad side. “Uh… yeah, I think I can get it for you.” He replied, still holding back laughter, looking at the Youma who still had it’s eyes fixated on the other lieutenant.

Of course Arseno didn’t really have a plan at this point and wondered if the Youma was really going to attack them anyway. He decided to try and get it’s attention and summoned his cane to perhaps poke and provoke the Youma a bit. Or at least move it’s attention away from Crocoite.

Crocoite tried not to look embarrassed, keeping his face as even as possible, but the blush that colored his cheeks was clear enough against his skin. He huffed, shaking his head in denial. He could not really say that he was not scared, though, as his voice would probably crack from fear and give him away entirely too quickly. That was not something he wanted. It was embarrassing enough already! He nodded his head stiffly when the other did agree to go after the youma, though, taking a step back, and letting Arseno walk forward to poke it. The second Arseno had his weapon summoned and raised, though, the spider leaped with alarming speed off of the wall, just like its much smaller cousins. Its bounce brought him much closer to Crocoite than the other wanted, and he actually let out a yelp before leaping away from it and rolling, for safety and distance, down the alley. He skidded to a stop a pretty safe distance away, though the spider youma had not moved off the wall where it landed, a couple of feet away from where it started.

Well, Crocoite’s reaction was enough to confirm his suspicions. He would laugh at the guy in private later. He flinched a bit as the Youma jumped from the wall and heard Crocoite’s yelp and watched as the other managed to get a fair distance. He wondered though if the Youma was going to attack. It didn’t seem to want to, it was more curious than anything.

However Arseno had agreed to dispatch it, and so he tried to threaten it a bit with his cane, hoping to get it’s attention. He wasn’t yet ready to punch it, if he did that might mean spider Youma guts on the walls and his uniform. He moved in-between the Youma and Crocoite, hoping that it would now pay attention to him.

The youma turned its attention to Arseno, since Crocoite was now a mile away from him and the other Negaverse soldier was closer. It seemed to tilt its head to the side, almost curiously, but it did want to eat and these two were the only options it seemed to have. It knew better than to attack Chaos, but then again... a youma that was hungry was not a youma to be trusted. It let out a long hiss, then crouched close against the wall before leaping off. It angled its creepy, moduled body toward Arseno, revealing long fangs as it lunged toward the Lieutenant. Crocoite had every right to be afraid of it now, though he thankfully could not see it. In fact, he had taken his opportunity to ditch out on the whole thing and leave before any serious mocking, or spider biting, could take place.

Before Arseno could tell what was going on, the Youma decided it was going to attack. Using all of his skills he managed to dodge the fangs and keep them at bay with his cane. With his speed, he tried to get behind it. Unfortunately for him it seems to be quite quick itself and had managed to move along with him. ‘Well, it’s decided then.’ Arseno thought as he quickly used the cane to distract it a bit more and with all he could, hit it over the head a few times before punching it a few times.

Arseno was panting by the time it was done. That had not been fun. He felt a bit sorry for the thing as he had killed it. He had never done anything like that before, but he did have to defend himself… and only himself apparently.

It was finally over, at least he thought it was. He had hit it a few more times just to make sure, and looked around for Crocoite, who was nowhere to be seen. Arseno huffed a bit. ‘Well, he’s not going to have that secret for long.’ He decided as he started to climb back up onto the roof of the building to see if he could follow where Crocoite had gone. He knew how dangerous the other was and would make sure not to do anything like this with him again.
