(Or a crush, were she being completely honest about how she felt.)
They'd met for coffee at a Starbucks, but took the hot drinks on the go for a short walk, just to be together and chat. Dani had the best stories about her time in Italy; Thalia found herself hanging on every word, totally fascinated.
They walked past the mouth of an alley, and Thalia glanced down it, just briefly, and her eyes fell on eight very large, very bright ones, attached to a very large, very disturbing-looking spider.
"Um." She stopped, gently nudged her friend, and pointed. "You see that, right?"

There weren't usually good things that came out of these... interruptions to daily life. The fact she'd met a friendly--and rather cute--girl at the festival... actually thanks to the attack of the killer bats... well. Danika was still feeling a bit blind sighted by it.
The warmth of the caramel latte in her hand and the warm presence beside her was a wonderful counter to the n** in the air. Her other hand moved through the air before them, accenting her words as she recounted her time abroad. She swore it was only accidental that her fingers would brush Thalia's now and then. Just happened when you walk beside someone, that's all.
"There's just something about standing in a place that's so... old, and seeing the artwork still standing it's just... there's no real words," she was saying, her voice holding the reverence that was written across her face. She didn't mention how she wasn't just talking about parts of Rome... red sands and stone crossed her mind briefly, and she pushed it away.
Just in time for Thalia to nudge at her, and Danika blinked, stepping slightly around the other girl to peer into the alley. Her skin prickled as she spotted the immense arachnid. "Yeah, I see it," she grumbled, her other hand going quickly to Thalia's wrist very much on purpose. "We should get out of here..." She couldn't sense that it was a youma. Maybe it was a prop. Maybe someone else was around that could handle this.
A voice in her head was seething at the prospect of trying to get away from the creature.
But it was a voice Danika had a lot of practice ignoring, tugging carefully at the other girl's arm and trying to back away from the alley.

Thalia did not want to run away. Thalia was Eleusis, Page of Cosmos, protector of....whatever she was supposed to be the protector of. Probably the innocent. Her crush, right at that specific moment, and also probably her pumpkin spice latte. You know, if nothing else.
Still, she let Dani drag her away because powering up in the middle of the street was colossally stupid, and maybe if she was very lucky the giant spider would leave them alone. That sounded like a really nice, really hopeful outlook on the world.
It was wrong.
The spider skittered forward, and in the light it looked particularly grotesque, and god, ugh, it was probably one of those youma things.
"Can, um, can you promise you won't tell anyone about what I'm about to do?" Thalia asked.
She shouldn't trust Dani this much. She did anyway.
She didn't wait, just set her drink down on a nearby bench and focused on the little magic prism that belonged to Eleusis of Cosmos. In a breath, she was transformed.

When Thalia came without much of an argument or fuss, Danika actually thought maybe they could get away from this. Let someone else deal with it. They were two civilians who had no ******** place in this war, let someone else handle it.
Even when the spider followed after them, skittering forward and making her skin crawl... she figured so what? They'd book it, and someone else would take it out. No big deal.
But then Thalia spoke up, and Danika turned blank, confused eyes towards her. Because that line really could only mean one thing. She half expected Thalia to take out a pen. Or. Hell. Maybe turn into a ******** Negaverse agent and then Dani knew she'd have gone off the deep end. Back to Italy with her.
She didn't even get to make a sound, or nod her head, or even shake it, because Thalia was setting down her drink and focusing and then... just like that. At least she's not an Uranus knight, she found herself thinking stupidly. But she was a Cosmos knight. A Cosmos Page. In a very, very striking dress she'd say that much but-- yeah this wasn't the time to be focusing on how that dress clung to her figure.
"Thalia--" The words failed her. The ******** did she say to this? Why the ******** did she have to meet a cute girl that was a baby knight? Whom seemed gun-ho about going up against a youma.

"It's okay!" Eleusis said, hoping she sounded reassuring and confident. "I've got this, totally." She could stomp a spider, even in a dress this elegant and...well, somewhat unwieldy for fighting in. She absolutely had this 100% under control, there was no way she could be even considered to have it less than perfectly under control.
Even if she hated spiders. Even if she was a little bit terrified.
UNDER CONTROL.
She hiked up her dress, and swung a foot up and out, catching it under its ugly chin - a solid cheer kick, something she had plenty of practice with. The The spider hissed at her, and she took a few steps back, almost automatically.
God, that was ugly.
"I've got this," she said, again, to reassure herself as much as Dani.

Dani watched in one part numbness, one part... almost amusement. Morbid amusement, since she was wondering just how capable in combat Thalia was...
The well-aimed kick got an inward thumbs up from Dani at least, but her quick retreat when the thing hissed again made her have to smother a laugh. "Have... you ever fought something like this before?" That was a neutral question right? Not telling? If she could handle it... Dani didn't have to jump in.
Right?
That nagging voice in her head seethed but she ignored it.

Eleusis was not exactly the picture of the bold, conquering heroine, and she knew it. She wanted to blame the dress -- it was designed, she assumed, for dramatically sweeping through a large, empty manor while singing about glory past (it had that sort of feel, if you asked her, the Old Hollywood glamor) and not for fighting -- but really it was because she was a cheerleader, not a martial artist.
"Um!" Eleusis frowned. "Once...or twice..." Better to be honest, right? "But, like, I'm supposed to be a magical superhero? So you'd thinkt his would come naturally."
Forget it.
She lifted up a leg, pulling off her shoe and throwing it at the thing's head. It made another hissing noise, this time sounding put-out, and she grabbed the other shoe and threw it, too.

She's completely capable of doing this on her own, Danika told herself firmly. Perhaps she was um. Projecting too much. She'd known how to tussle when she first powered up. Not well against a youma, sure, but she knew the basics of how to fight, how to use her body to her advantage.
She kinda of um... assumed most people knew something, even the incorrect s**t from TV and movies. Most Pages and Senshi she'd met thus far at least had a grasp of how to throw a punch. And this Page here had just landed a solid kick to the youma.
But um. The way less than enthusiastic response to her previous experience against youma made Danika's shoulders drop a bit and her face to go a bit pale. "You... haven't been given like... any lessons? By anyone?" Come... naturally? Oh no. Well. It sort of did, she told herself, trying to cling to faith that the girl would just dust the youma.
She looked around, almost surprised that no other powered individuals had shown up to assist.
Then she watched a shoe go sailing and offend the youma. Then a second shoe. Danika was pretty much speechless at that point, and had to physically restrain herself from groaning and dropping her head.
To be fair, that was a very patient youma.
