"Get back here!" Rajani shouted as she gave chase after a Kipepwa. The large winged beast had managed to swipe her necklace from her when she was fighting with it. Normally she would have let the thing fly away but that necklace meant a lot to her. "Give me my necklace!"

With a grunt of frustration she gripped her hammer with one hand and did what she could to run and catch up. The shifter was angry with herself for letting the necklace be taken. She only hoped it wasn't completely smashed to bits when she did get it back. When the Kipepwa flew low under a branch she leaped at it and swung her hammer. Rajani managed to clip it's wing but it still escaped her and she ended up smashing the trunk of a tree. She landed on her feet and sighed before she started to run after the beast again. "Ethra! Fetch!" The girl called to her familiar who was a mere ten feet behind her.

The Maglardilla let out a scree then leaped into the air to glide after the Kipepwa. Even though he was newly acquired he knew the game of fetch and also knew the flying creature had something of his mistresses.

It was a yelling voice that drew Lixes's attention and he jerked himself up right, looking from side to side before he glanced toward the radaku that was laying near to him. Pushing up to his feet he grabbed up his hammer and said, "Come on, Pyre! Someone is in need of saving and we have to go and help them!" A declaration that had the radaku starring at him before giving a huge yawn. Lixes gave a mock pout, "You can stay here if you would rather but I am gonna go ahead!"

The moment that he started forward, racing toward the yelling voice, trying not to look excited as he felt at the moment. He knew that he shouldn't be as happy as he was when moments to act the part of the hero came up, but he couldn't help it! He just wanted to be able to help people and today had been such a painfully slow day as far as heroics went. Whatever had happened to caused the voice to need help was a Godsend! Aisha was obviously on his side in this... or maybe it was Chi? He'd take the help from any Goddess that felt like helping him out so long as it meant he wouldn't have to sit still anymore.

Lixes hopped along a couple branches then started forward again... only to nearly have a kipepwa crash into him. He flailed his arms for a moment to keep himself up right while Pyre gave a snarl, snapping his teeth at the creature in its attempts to protect Lixes from the creature. A moment later a maglardilla appeared and it was able to finally given him that extra nudge he needed to fall backwards, landing in a tangle of roots in a very unheroic manner. Giving a little grumble he muttered to himself, "Why is it always maglardilla, Pyre?" Every time...

Ethra didn't seem to stop to check on the person that he passed, he was focused on giving chase to the creature. His mistress wanted what it had and he needed to get it.

Rajani wasn't far behind her familiar and she noticed the guy that fell. She slowed and paused for a moment, though clearly she was keeping a distance from him. Her eyes lifted to stare at where the Kipepwa was going then dropped back down to the boy. "Are you alright?" The girl was breathing heavily from her run so her chest was rising and falling quickly, making her words a little breathless. She honestly didn't want to linger but since she had seen that her insect was the one to send the boy to the ground she knew she had to at least make sure he was okay.

Her hammer was at her side being held tightly while her other hand seemed to twitch, fingers itching at her palm. Rajani pressed her lips together tightly.

Lixes looked up at the one that he had been attempting to help, at least he guessed so given that the voices matched, before he set to work dragging himself to his feet. That was rather embarrassing, wasn't it? Here he'd thought that he was going to rush in and help but as per usual he got himself in trouble due to a maglardilla. He was starting to think that those particular insects had it out for him or something. What a pain! Giving a little smile as he worked on dusting himself off he said, "I'm fine! Not the first time that I've fallen and I am sure that it won't be the last, thus is the trials of a hero."

Leaning over he scooped up his hammer once more, lifting it up to rest on his shoulder, before he glanced at the one in front of him. It would appear as though she too were carrying a hammer? Something that caused his mismatched eyes to brighten before he said, "Cool! You're a hero too then? That's great!" Though if she was did that mean that she wasn't going to require his help? He tended to help where damsels in distress were concerned and given she had a hammer of her own surely she was no damsel... right? He didn't think so at least.

"Does this mean you don't need help then?" That was a shame, here he'd though he finally found something to do. Here was to hoping that it wasn't the case and she had a whole army of danger standing between her and whatever she was doing. At least that way he might be able to help.

He was getting up, that was a good sign. And then he said he was fine. Perfect! Rajani looked away from him to see where her familiar and the Kipepwa went. Thankfully the winged creature was flying in a straight line and not trying to zig zag through the trees. Then the boy asked her a question and she blinked. Hero? "What? Uh, no.." Rajani was no hero. Even if she wanted to be she couldn't. Didn't that require touching people? It was one thing to hug her dad and her brother but quite another to go around touching strangers. They might get the wrong idea and try something.

She managed to glance toward the hybrid boy, catching just the right light to show off her own Alk markings, and register his next question. Then her eyes went to the beast he had with him. "Is that fast enough to catch a kipepwa? It stole my necklace and I want it back." That was really all she could think of to ask and say. Rajani wasn't one to seek help from others, unless it was Chal or Aysun.

The shifter turned her attention back to where the two insects had gone and debated for a moment. Would it be rude if she just ran off? Yes. Frustration took over and she turned her hammer in her hand. "If you're alright I need to be off.." Rajani barely finished before she started to follow Ethra and the Kipepwa. It was up to the boy whether or not he wanted to help. She had given him a way to without actually asking after all. And if his beast could catch the other she would be happy.

"No?" He looked confused, as though the idea that someone wielding a hammer might not be a hero had never even once occurred to him. How could she not be a hero? Heroes used hammers after all! Something he only knew because his bigger, Alkidike father wielded a hammer and he was a hero! It was the very reason why Lixes had taken up the same weapon, his desire to follow in his father's rather large footsteps. A shame that he didn't get his height like Drexl had.

As the girl turned toward the bug that she was after, telling him about what was going on and what needed to be done he was suddenly scrambling closer, his eyes going wide, "Ah! Hey, look at that! You're part Alkidike, too?" He asked, sounding rather excited. Here he'd thought that she was a Shifter only but in just the right light he was able to see those markings that she had and he couldn't help but to get rather excited about the prospect that he'd found someone that had at least two things in common with him. She might not be a hero now but maybe he could get to join the heroic side? Though that might involve getting the necklace back first?

Turning toward the thieving kipepwa he said, "We will have to hunt that thing down! After that we should definitely talk! Pyre! Go get the kipepwa! You can do it!" He said, encouraging the fiery colored radaku who gave a little huffing sound before turning to chase after the creature at Lixes's behest.

And all at once she felt her personal space become invaded. The hammer in her hand was lifted defensively. "H-hey.. what are..?" Rajani leaned away as she also took a few steps away from him. This resulted in her almost tripping over a root and she had to right herself by holding one arm out to gain her balance. "Uh, yeah.. one eighth I think." The girl couldn't remember the exact percentage since she hadn't really thought about it much. Why was that important though? There were plenty of Shifters with Alkidike blood.

Rajani gave the boy a miffed look. Why did everyone need to be inside her personal bubble? Did she look that friendly? If so she needed to fix that.

Then he sent his radaku after the insect and she learned that it's name was Pyre. Fitting given the colors. "Don't break the necklace!" She called after the animal. If nothing else she just wanted the shell to survive. She could always put it on another string later. Rajani followed after the beasts, going into a run almost instantly. All she could think about was getting her jewelry back. Please let it be okay. Her inner voice whispered. It meant too much to her to just accept its loss or destruction.

"One eighth?" Lixes's head cocked to one side as he tried to do the math for a moment, "So... that would be like... if one of my brothers or I were to have a kid with someone without any Alkidike blood." He said that half to himself, then nodded, "Cool! I noticed your marks when you turned, they look really neat!" They were far more decorative then those that he and his brothers had, and it was something that Lixes found to be pretty interesting. To the point that he didn't even seem to notice that she'd been a breath away from hitting him with a hammer.

Lixes gave a smile and said, "I am sure that Pyre will be careful. He was trained initially to be a babysitter for my brothers and I when we were younglings after all." He could fight if the need arose, to keep other safe, but otherwise he seemed to have a fine touch. Here was to hoping he didn't accidentally mess up the necklace while taking down the kipepwa though. He didn't think it would happen... or at least he sure hoped that wouldn't be the case.

As the radaku jumped up at the kipepwa, catching it with his mouth, Lixes went tense for a moment, then sighed in relief, "I think the necklace should be aright since he caught it by the middle?" Please, Mother Aisha let it be so he thought to himself on the inside before he walked toward Pyre, eager to see if all had gone right. Last thing he wanted to do was for Pyre and himself to fail at helping out the hammer wielding damsel.

((Edited my post. >> ))

When he mentioned him or one of his brothers having a kid she paused for a moment then nodded her head. "I guess so." Rajani didn't know how diluted his Alkidike heritage was so she couldn't give him a for sure answer. Not that she really wanted to since it meant she'd have to think about her actual family.

As the radaku caught the kipepwa she took in a breath and held it. her own familiar moved toward the creature and searched with its pincers to find the necklace. Rajani waited before she moved closer and bit down on her bottom lip. All the worst scenarios played through her head and then Ethra popped up with the necklace in his mouth. Rajani sighed and bent down to hug her beast and take the precious item from him. "Thank the stars." Her grey gaze went toward Pyre and she smiled at him. "Good boy." Since the radaku wasn't hers she didn't hug him. She set her hammer on the ground and moved her hair out of the way, showcasing the scars on her neck, so that she could try to put the shell necklace back on. As she did it appeared as though she had on a soft look. Clearly it was more than a simple bauble to her.

Lixes moved closer to see how things were going and when it seemed as though the necklace was safe he breathed a sigh of relief. He'd been a bit worried that the necklace might come to harm but it seemed as though Pyre had grabbed the kipepwa just right and saved the necklace from being carried off as well as saved it from harm. Reaching a hand out he patted Pyre on the head, "You're a good boy, Pyre, good job! I'm really impressed with how you caught that thing out of the air like that!" He praised the beast.

Pyre glanced up at Lixes, tail swishing slowly, before he finally spat out the kipepwa. It seemed that he'd waited until after the necklace had been retrieved before allowing it to fly off again as he settled down alongside Lixes, nuzzling against his hand for more attention. Something that Lixes was only too happy to do as the Shifter girl set to putting the necklace back on.

"It's a neat looking necklace. Something from your boyfriend?" That was what girls liked, right? Presents from boys? Not that Lixes really knew for certain. He was the sort that saved damsels in distress but he didn't really date any of them. He was far too busy with his hero work after all! He'd leave that sort of think to Drexl.

She paid little to no attention to Lixes as he praised his beast. So long as the boy didn't try to touch her she was fine. Rajani made sure the knot was tied tight this time before letting her fingers rest on the shell. Then she heard the hybrid ask if it was from her boyfriend and she turned her head to look up at him. "No. A friend gave it to me before he disappeared." She knew he had been saved and was living his life peacefully now but she still missed him. Taking a breath she reached down to grab her hammer and stand back up. "Thank you and Pyre for helping me to get it back." Rajani was disappointed that she hadn't made sure the knot had been tied better before but it didn't matter now that it was where it belonged.

Resting her weapon on her shoulder she dropped her eyes down to her maglardilla and patted her thigh. "Come along Ethra." With her necklace back she had no reason to be near this person. She could go back to being alone in the woods and hunting. As she turned the shifter used her free hand to run through her white hair, not because it was in her face but more out of habit and something to do. Her soft markings showed up again in the right lighting and since the back of her shirt was open the spots could also be seen on her lower back. Clearly she had more of them hidden away.

The insect clicked his jaw a few times but scurried after Rajani when it saw the hand gesture. He knew that was the sign for him to follow.

Lixes went a bit wide eyed at the comment and found himself asking, "Your friend disappeared?" Was he still missing? Had he passed away? Was that why she was so attached to the necklace, because he had gone missing and never came back? t was such a sad story! One that made him want nothing more then to give her a hug and tell her that it would be fine! Before he could really do anything though she was picking up her weapon before calling for the maglardilla to go with her. Wait, she was leaving?! Already? She'd said thank you and now it seemed that she was on her way.

He took a couple steps after her and asked, "You're going already? In a hurry, huh?" Pyre gave a grumbling sound before stepping forward to catch hold of Lixes by the pant leg, as though to keep him from wandering after the young woman if she was leaving. Normally he saved people then went on his way, they should be doing that... or so the tugging on his pants seemed to imply.

Her small pointed ears heard the boy ask his questions but it wasn't until she heard Ethra chitter that she paused. Rajani turned her head to look back at Lixes. "Yes, my friend disappeared. It was for the best. Being a slave isn't fun. I was happy to see him leave." There. He wanted to know so bad so she told him.

His last question about her leaving and being in a hurry made her shift her weight so that one hip jutted out. "I need to go hunting." Was this why her space was invaded so much? Because she answered questions and spoke with others? Rajani rolled her tongue in her mouth for a moment as she did her best to keep from simply turning and walking away. Chal had told her that she needed to be polite. She no longer carried a knife so that was a huge thing. Rajani wanted nothing more than to make Chalcedony and Aysun proud of her. Chandra too, if she ever got to meet him. "I'm not in a hurry or anything but you already helped me with my necklace so I should be on my way." Then a thought struck her and it wasn't a good one. "Unless you're expecting something in return for your help.." Her grip on her hammer grew tighter and her jaw locked then tightened. Rajani wasn't sure what this boy wanted.

One could almost see the gears in Lixes's head slowly turning, grinding more like, before they seemed to kick into gear and everything so of made sense. Giving a little nod of his head he said, "Ahh... I see." To a degree at least. So her friend had been a slave and it wasn't so much that he disappeared as much as he had escaped? That sounded like it was a good thing though he could see why the necklace meant so much to her. It made him that much happier that nothing had happened to it under her watch.

"Eh? Hunting? Gotcha." Alright, so she was busy then and had only stopped because she'd been waylaid by the kipepwa? That much have been a pretty big bother, huh? Getting bothered by a thieving kipepwa when she had to get other, more important things done must have been a pain.

"Eh? Oh! Yeah, yeah... that makes sense." She had to be going and now that she had her necklace she had no real reason to hang out with him, did she? As she asked if he were expecting something in return he gave a rapid shake of his head, "Of course not! Heroes help people because its the right thing to do, not because they want something in return. If you ask for things in return you're not a hero, you're a mercenary!" At least that was the way he saw it.

Good! Rajani thought to herself as she was about to turn away and walk off again. Only, she saw that he looked almost disappointed that she was leaving. Did she care? A chitter from Ethra and him bumping into her leg made her give a groan. No, she didn't care, but she knew her dad would. So she closed her eyes and took a deep breath before reluctantly turning toward the boy. When she opened her eyes she was looking up as though she was issuing a prayer but eventually looked at him. "Did you want to help me hunt?" Oh she knew she was going to regret that. Rajani was going to need a therapy session with Maw later. A long ride with no complaints from her brother. Either that or she could spoil the black janarm with all the treats she wanted and make him fat.

"I need enough to feed a small army." Considering she wanted to make enough treats for all of Aysun's beasts she was going to need a large animal. She would also need to hunt for fruits. Rajani would have thought about going fishing but she couldn't swim and the last time she had been near water.. well she'd almost fallen in. But... She looked at the hybrid boy with new interest as she tilted her head. "Can you fish?" If he was going to stick close to her then she might as well use him.
