Destiny City Media is aching for some interviews following the Bat Attack; after bats attacked the Fall Festival, newspapers, news stations, and local bloggers are trying to speak to everyone in sight. They're looking for interviews, pictures, anything they can get their hands on! Are you interested in sharing your story? Your character has been invited to answer a few basic questions--where were they when the bats attacked, what happened, and how do they feel about the safety of Destiny City now? Your character can give an interview for any media they want. Or, maybe, you are the one conducting the interview!
Pat didn't know why he agreed to do this interview. He really didn't want too at all but apparently the brass thought it would be good publicity especially since there had been a news clip that had caught him fighting the monster bats. They saw someone who had skill all Pat saw was someone falling all over themselves and still managing to knock the bats away. That clip was patched together with a shot of him trying to administer first aid as first responders showed up. Go figure... Now he had been shanghaied into an interview. At least he was being comped lunch costs.
The tall redhead grumbled to himself as he found a back booth of a little coffee shop, where they agreed to meet. Even though he was feeling better, no more serious lethargy or anger or hunger or thirst or any other symptom the city had dubbed 'The Vampire Sickness', he still wanted to stay out of the main flow of the place. That first day really sucked but it disappeared quickly enough for him, with no lingering side effects as far as he could tell. He didn't realize just how little he actually had to eat and drink in his place until now, it was kind of pathetic.
Checking his phone for the time Pat flagged down a waitress and ordered himself some hot chocolate. A beer would be better but it was too early in the day for that, damn it.

Ryan was running a little late for thus interview, but it had been in the middle of his work day. He had Katie showing him the progress on there second article about the aftermath and the vampire sickness. It included accpunts they had collected that hadn't gone into the and speculations from the masses. The bat attack wasn't the only weird thing that was going down in the city. Katie and Ryan hoped they were on to something here and we ready to keep chronicalling this one.
Today he had an interview with a Pat O'Ryan. He'd been covered in a brief news clip, but hadn't given an interview until today, not that much time had passed.
He walked up to the table where he spotted the red head, "sorry I'm late. There is a lot of work surrounding all this and I got a little held up." He took a seat, "but we can get right into now."
He sat his camear down and pulled his tablet out ready to start.
Pat had kind of zoned for a little bit, just staring into his cup, his mind drifting back to the fair. What could he say to this interviewer, hell he didn't even know this guy's name... or girl? Did his boss even say? There hadn't been any hint of 'negaversian' interference when it came to the bats but seriously, what else could it had been? Granted he didn't see any officers there, not unless they had been mixed in with the costumes, but he didn't see any blatant evil stuff going on. If it wasn't there fault then whose was it? and what exactly had those bats been because Pat had spent a surprising amount of his 'sick leave' researching bats. The largest one he could find was a giant golden-crowned flying fox which was a fruit bat... not a blood sucker. Besides according to wikipedia they only had a little under 6 feet wingspan and the bats that attacked the fair, they were bigger.
His musings were interrupted when a blond guy walked up to his table. "Oh... uh no worries." Pat looked a little startled but that quickly faded, "I was a bit early anyway. Patrick O'Ryan," He stuck his hand out over the table as he introduced himself. "Not really sure how this will work. I kind of was told to do it by the bosses, didn't get much heads up." Or choice. He silently added.

He gave a bit of a smirk and quickly introduced himself, "Ryan Hanover, Destiny City Times. Sorry to hear your weren't really given time to prepare, but hopefully you can give a decently accurate account."
"I've seen your video, there are quite a few on youtube. How you managed to capture that while fighting is impressive," he said leaving his opinion to himself, being that he found it more impressive than the bat fight. He'd seen the mash up too."
"It seemed like quite an busy night for you, straight from fighting crazed bats to supplying emergency medical services. Could you explain to me, as clearly as you can recall what you remember of the night? Did anything feel odd or out of the ordinary?"
They said construction disturbed the bats, but after hearing some bats were simply huge beyond reason, he gone back to festival grounds and good some pictures of the dead bats he came across, large and small. The large bats were particularly insane and size and he could see why the bite marks were so visible."
Pat shrugged, "I'll do my best. That s**t was crazy." He sighed at the mention of that damn clip. It wasn't like it had been a big deal, now all he hears about at work is that video. He even got it from a few of his neighbors. How was he to know that someone was using their phone to video the insanity. "I didn't. Someone else did and for some reason they decided to video me," Pat tried to explain with a shake of his head. Like he really wanted to be taped fighting giant bats. Yeah he ended up kicking a** at the end but he got bit quite a bit before that, besides he mostly won by sheer dumb luck.
Apparently Ryan was just jumping right into the interview, not that Pat didn't understand that. "Um.... well I was off that night, I'm a EMT at the local firehouse, I was the designated driver for my friends so I had spent most of my time poking around the booths. Played a couple of the games and even won this ugly a** teddy bear." That bear had actually been a pretty good weapon, all things considering. Granted it fell apart after a few good swings but Pat still recognized the service the bear had done... by drinking a few beers. He finished off his hot chocolate and continued with his tale. The sooner he got this over with the sooner he could go back to working on his family's halloween costumes.
"I was about to pass the damn thing off to a couple with some kids because I had no use for the bear when this mass of bats just descended from the sky." He paused for a moment, his gaze distant before adding, "right before... there was this smell. It just, settled, over everything. Like dust, must, and dirt. It was the only warning that I remember."

Ryan hadn't realized it was someone else filming him, whoever it was, either zoomed in really well or was very close. Either way it was an oversight on his part and mattered very little. When Pat started explaining about the night, Ryan when about taking notes and getting the account down in his tablet. He described a normal night, like all the other, the only difference being the smell. That was new no one had mentioned a smell.
"The smell may have been from the construction crew hitting what I'm assuming was the bats nest. That's the explanation for the bat attack and as of right now, it consistent and fits the stories I've been given.
"So once the bats attacked, what was going through your head? Did you think to run, hide or were you ready to fight from the first moment. I can imagine as an EMT you are very use to adrenaline rushes."
Pat shrugged, "I guess. I never really thought about where the bats came from. Honestly trying to forget it." It was one thing to fight the forces of darkness, not that Pat had actually gotten into any real scrapes with the negaverse, but it was a completely different thing when something so very strange happened. And if it was the negaverse he couldn't very well say so or even that he didn't believe that the bats were natural.
"Um well. When I spotted the bats I just instinctively swung at them with the bear. Any weapon on hand you know." He shrugged. "The job can be stressful but this didn't really give me any chance to think so I fell back on the standard 'serve and protect'." It might have been the police motto but as far as Pat was concerned that's what his job description was as well. He might be more on the serve side of things but when push came to shove he was willing to protect. "Besides I wasn't the only one fighting. A lot of other people were too. I kind of figured that I could atleast give some of the people running and hiding some coverage. I didn't do that great at that." He looked at the rather large bandage on his hand from where a particularly nasty bite was currently slathered in antiseptic. Even with the shots he was worried about the kind of contagion such a bite could carry.
