rules 01. Follow all shop rules. 02. Please turn off your cell phones. 03. Keep careful track of your rolling bonuses and event roleplays by keeping a record (explained below). 04. If you have questions, ask them in this thread. 05. If you do not post within 24 hours of a prompt, the GM is within their rights to move on without you. You will be able to join in once you are able to post again. 06. A summary of events will be provided for each section of the meta. You must keep up to date with this. 07. Please listen to staff and meta moderators. 08. If you have a problem with something that's happening and you can't fix it on your own, address it to the mule. Don't IM a moderator. Just go right to the mule. 09. Tag all sensitive content, including but not limited to: gore, self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexy stuff.

questions previously asked I've been put into a group or era I don't want to play in. Can you move me? I will move players between eras if they can find someone willing to swap them. I will do this only until November 7th. After that, groups are locked.
Why are groups locked/limited/predetermined? In order to prevent massive misbalancing of the event, I have chosen to level the scales. Your position has been determined by rolling all character names in order and then using preference lists to get everyone into an era. However, as stated above, if you truly can't live with your era, you may find a buddy to swap with and it will be done.
Why is balancing so important? Each era has certain checkpoints to hit, such as speaking to every NPC, or arriving at a certain location. Pacing the event relatively equally would be quite difficult if two players were attempting to speak to six NPCs as compared six players trying to talk to six NPCs. I thought the second option was optimal comparatively.
FORGET PLAYERS ONLY: Why are the moderators playing my "past" character? This is the beginning of the true story of the shop--we're done with prologues and tests. Therefore, each character has access to a backstory and information that you, as players, do not and in fact may not for a long while. The moderators have been entrusted with this knowledge in order to ensure the story is as smooth as possible.
FORGET PLAYERS ONLY: Can I retract permission to have my character involved in Forget? No. It was made clear to you what this meta would involve and you agreed. This meta has been specifically written to open up new lines of inquiry and new plot possibilities using the characters who were entered into Forget; to have any one character removed would cause a rewriting of a significant part of this event and events to come.
I have another question. Ask it in this thread. If it's private, PM it to the mule (Ashdown Crier).

records It is common, in events of this size, to have difficulty keeping track of your RPs and any benefits you've accrued. In an effort to forestall this, all players are required to create a thread compiling their RPs, their bonuses, and their recovered powers. Each character you're playing in the event should have their own record thread, as it's essentially a mini journal!
formatting There is no specific formatting. However, in your record you must cover at least these three things:1. Rolling bonuses. Any advantages acquired to be used with dice rolls must be recorded in your record. 2. Recovered powers. Any powers recovered through the meta must be recorded in here. 2b. Meta temporary powers or disadvantages must also be recorded. 3. Event RPs. This is for your sanity, not mine. You may otherwise fill your meta record with whatever you want. These things must be recorded and turned in at the end of the meta in order to claim your character's event credit.

moderators Staff will be assisting with this meta, and as such each of them has an era of responsibility. Should you need assistance, go to the moderators in charge of your era first. If they can't help you, then you should PM the mule. Silverah or shibrogane will assist you from that point onward.

The Great War ended just last year with the nuclear annihilation of Berlin. The Russian Empire has not yet fallen. Prohibition is going strong (or not) and the Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Station has begun outputting enough electricity to light up all the North Shore. And just last week, some old biddies in Boston claimed to be able to speak to the dead.
None of that matters in the seaside town of Ashdown. There's real magic there, they say, and real spirits. Who gives a fig for what the big cities are doing when there's so much here?
This is where the story updates for 1 Nov, 1922 will go, when there are some. For now, check out the information thread!

A few months ago, a man walked on the moon. Down here in Ashdown, three kids disappeared and two were murdered. It's not our style to let that get us down, even if it happened hot on the heels of continuing Soviet buildup. Nuclear weapons are on everyone's minds, so close to Boston as we are, but why take it too seriously?
It's only impending death.

President Kennedy didn't die. He didn't get re-elected, either. And President Goldwater? Hoo boy, he was a trip. Trippy enough that President Reagan still happened, with all the attendant shitty economic and social policies. People are dying, and New York City is the epicenter. There's all the magic in the world but people are still dying...
It's a new day, a new future, and we're just going to see where it goes.
This is where story updates for Nov 1, 1989 will go, when there are some. In the meantime, why not take a look at the information thread?
