Ochre lacked the knowledge and drive to practice Halloween last year, but with his recent trainings within the Negaverse, he started to see the holiday as an excellent means of running some Negaverse exercises. Already he looked the part, with his outfit suggesting witchcraft, so passing amongst a group of teenagers proved no problem for him on Hallow’s eve. But walking about and draining people couldn’t be the only task the Negaverse had up their sleeve; they still had much to make up for after the Rift invasion, so it fell to all officers to get creative and muster up some operations to recoup their losses.
Ochre figured the first, and easiest step of the process entailed decorating the Dark Kingdom. Maybe it was a little tacky, and he definitely didn’t run it by Laurelite first (but in fairness she often busied herself with other matters, and the other General-Sovereigns had their hands similarly full).
Ochre found some entertainment in hanging the plastic bat figures across the different glowing crystals in the Cathedral hallways and arming a few of them with ghost sheets. On one of the ancient tables, he placed a wide spider-like bowl full of various name brand candies from the grocery store. Still freshly wrapped, nothing about them suggested any tampering. Next to it he felt a handwritten note inviting anyone to take one, and a smaller portion suggested enchanting candies for draining energy. Ochre himself knew not how to do so, thus he hoped that one of the many rolling through the Dark Kingdom that day might have an idea for it.
Next came the spiderweb lump that he held in his hands, still packaged, but he couldn’t determine how best to string it about the smoother walls in the Cathedral. A few crystals jutted from the wall for light, but beyond that, nothing remained to hold the webs in place. Humming thoughtfully, Ochre leaned against the old table while he studied the last of his decorative opportunities.
Maybe he’d recruit some poor lieutenant into helping out after all.SSXBrosB i can't remember your nega's name because i am awful so i'll edit it in with your response!

Arsenopyrite had been wandering around the negaverse space for a bit, trying to figure his way around and learning about all of the places that were there. At some point he came upon the Cathedral and looked at it for a bit, wondering why it was there, but he was sure that he would soon find the answer. And if not he could just ask about it later.
Halloween was one of his favorite seasons; the excuse to dress up in costume was too hard to pass up. He just wished that there were better Halloween movies rather than all of the slasher films he and his friends would watch at the parties he went too. Luckily his brother was preoccupied with school stuff and wanted to celebrate with his friends this year, so Arseno was free to go and do what he wanted, including more negaverse training.
And so that was how he found himself here, now wandering the halls of the Cathedral, noting the candy that had been put out, until he finally came upon someone else in the building. It looked like the man was hanging Halloween decorations. Interesting, he didn’t think they would celebrate that sort of thing here, though he didn’t mind.

Despite efforts made to hang the fake spiderwebbing, Ochre discovered that the task proved too difficult. It wouldn’t simply stick to the wall, and the jutting surfaces came too few and far between for him to appropriately stretch the cobwebs. „Damn…“ He muttered to himself as he looked upon the cottony wad. Well, he could take it home to Porsha’s and tease the cat with it still.
When he turned to reassess the remaining decorations, he startled at the sight of the visitor. Ochre recalled feeling no signatures closing in, but the Negaverse was busy enough in its bases lately that signatures felt ubiquitous. Ochre could not recall a time when the halls were empty, when officers of all ranks patrolled through these areas in expectation of another, more devastating attack on their territory. Thinking back on it, he shouldn’t have been so surprised by the appearance of a lieutenant. Inwardly he laughed it off.
„Oh, hi,“ he greeted informally. Ochre still lacked adjustment to the taciturn patterns of communication that his brother produced so well. „I didn’t hear you come in. You’re pretty stealthy.“
Finally Ochre retired the ball of spider we to the nearby table. „Um, do you have anything you’re doing right now? Cuz I could really use some help hanging the cobweb stuff. As soon as I try to hang it on that crystal over there, and bring it to this old sconce thing here, it falls off the crystal. Kind of annoying.“ He smiled then, and hoped that the lieutenant would not object vehemently to his impromptu decorum.

Arseno noticed the man having a bit of trouble hanging up the decorations. He was afraid the man might fall with the way he was trying to put the decorations on, but it looked like the guy knew what he was doing, at least until he spotted Arseno and looked surprised. Luckily though the guy didn’t waver, he just seemed surprised.
“Err… sorry for scaring you, wasn’t sure if I should say something or not.” It was true, either way he probably would have given the guy a fright, either by standing there silently or by suddenly speaking without announcing his presence first.
Arseno shrugged. He didn’t see any harm in helping the man decorate. Or at least he didn’t think they would be punished for it. “Sure, I don’t really have anything planned right now.” He replied as he moved a bit closer to the guy. But not knowing his name was kind of silly, he couldn’t just keep referring to this guy as… guy. “I’m Arsenopyrite, may I ask what your name is?”

“Oh, um, that’s alright. I guess I just got carried away.“ He smiled bashfully.
The lieutenant seemed nice enough. His time spent in the Negaverse grew more positive with each passing day; those who once jeered him for his missteps early in his career soon fell to silence, and others emerged to support him. Even despite being a senshi, some treated him with respect. Was it because he ranked higher than this lieutenant? He doubted it; Ochre wasn’t exactly the commanding type.
He even offered his name, and Ochre nodded to the introduction. „Wow, that’s kinda long. They didn’t want to give you a short one, huh? I’m Ochre. My brother’s Umber, so I guess we got matching names. I’d ask if you met him before, but he’s been focusing on his own thing for a while now.“ Briefly he wondered if the Negaverse would call his brother back, or punish him for abandoning the ranks.
„Anyway, here’s a piece of the web.“ Ochre picked up the chunk, pulled a piece of it apart, and handed it to the lieutenant. „Do you think you can get it on that sconce over there? I’ll try to put this side on the crystal.
„I gotta admit though, I’m kinda new to this Halloween stuff. Do you like the holiday?“

Arseno had no reason to dislike the guy. He went with how people acted rather than their status here. Of course, if they had a higher status that he knew of, he gave deference to them. “Yeah it is pretty long. Usually I just go by Arseno.” He replied, taking the piece of web from Ochre.
“Good to meet you Ochre, can’t say I’ve ever met your brother though.” He had barely met anyone here in the Negaverse, but he would just keep that to himself.
Walking over to the sconce and trying to place the web piece on it as best he could without it possibly catching on fire, Arseno thought about his question for a bit. “I like it better than a lot of holidays, though I like it more for the decorations, costumes, and treats more than anything else. People can come up with some amazing costumes.” He probably wasn’t going to do any trick-or-treating and he didn’t know quite enough people to be invited to any college parties. He would probably just stay at his apartment, trying to get diabetes and watching some Halloween movies.
“You’re new to it? I bet it’s interesting for you then. It’s more fun if you can do something with others on Halloween though, at least for me.”

“Yeah, the costume part of it and the candy would make for a great way to drain energy, huh? I mean, no one would look at us twice and think of anything but costumes, right? You look like a plague doctor and I look like a witch, I guess. Can’t be anything wrong there.“ Ochre still struggled with wrapping the web over the crystal, which had remarkably smooth sides. After some finagling, he managed to wrap it about the base of the crystal and rely on the outward-sprouting facets to hold it in place. „There.“
Standing back, Ochre admired his handywork. He stepped in soon afterward to work on spreading the web toward the bottom of the wall. He had no idea if it looked good or not; he hadn’t exactly studied spider webs in detail before embarking on this impulse.
„It’s interesting, yeah. I don’t really have any plans for it, and last Halloween uh… Nevermind.“ He waved the thought away. „But I don’t really know what to do on Halloween? I mean, I’m not really a kid that can just dress up and go trick-or-treating. Do you have something you usually do?“

Arseno liked the idea a bit for draining energy while in costumes. “True, we could probably drain a lot and it would be hard to tell.” And since they had a quota to meet, it would be nice if they could get it all done in one night. He watched the other struggle a bit for the webbing. It didn’t look like a professional had done the decorating of course, but it wasn’t too bad either. It’s not like spiders cared about uniformity. And it being a bit off made it look more authentic. “I think the decorations look good.” Arseno wondered a bit about what Ochre was going to say, but decided against it. If the man didn’t want to tell him then he wouldn’t ask. “Well usually you go to a party of some kind when you’re older. In high school I used to host a party for my friends, and me and we would watch Halloween movies. Now I mostly just buy a bunch of candy for myself since there aren’t a whole lot of trick-or-treaters in apartment complexes and spend the night gorging and relaxing. Don't know too many people here yet to be invited to their parties.” At least he couldn’t think of anything else. “I mean you could go around scaring people and scarring kids for life, but I’d just rather keep a hoard of candy to myself.” He said with a chuckle.

I’d rather have their starseeds than their fear.
„I haven’t been to a party before,“ Ochre returned nonchalantly. Crossing the room, he dipped into the candy bowl for some of the notably tamper-free treats. He liked Kit-Kats, he found - even if he and his brother both agreed that real chocolate was infinitely better. „What’re they like? I mean, I’ve seen some of the movies where it’s just a bunch of kids dancing around to bad music and drinking, but that doesn’t look really fun. Though, I guess you could still get a lot of energy by holding parties. I wonder if people can like, enchant those plastic cups to drain energy. I dunno.“ Another Kit-Kat was stolen from the bowl.
„So you just moved here?“ He unwrapped the candy and took a bite. „It’s kinda hard to make friends here. I guess it makes sense though. I mean, the war’s everywhere here, right? So like, why would anybody want to talk to anybody when that might be the day they get mugged or starseeded or something.
„I was pretty lucky, though. I’m living with a general so I get to know her friends and stuff too. Otherwise I’m not really sure how I could make a lot of friends here.“ And suggesting a house party to invite the neighborhood sounded like a similarly bad idea. If anyone could show up, wouldn’t that guarantee senshi and knights too?

Arseno wasn’t sure if the candy was safe to eat here. Sure, he probably didn’t tamper with it but then again… this is the Negaverse, filled with serial killers and other horrible people and things.
Arseno looked at Ochre. “Well at my parties we mostly watched movies and played video or board games while enjoying the food.” He was NOT a drinker and refused to have alcohol at the parties. They were underage after all, but his best friend still tried to spike the punch a few times. He of course had never used the parties to drain energy considering he had only joined the negaverse a few years after he moved here. But Ochre did seem to have some pretty good ideas on how to drain energy with large groups of people. He would have to ask about that later.
“Well, I’ve been here a couple of years, but I’ve mostly concentrated on my studies so I haven’t been out much.” It was actually pretty embarrassing. But then again he was doing pre-med. “Yeah, I think people are starting to get a bit paranoid with what’s going on.”
“I’m living by myself, though my general allows me over so I don’t feel too lonely. Hopefully I’ll get to know some others that are under him.” He looked around the Cathedral a bit. “Sometimes I feel like this place needs a bit more energy in it or something.”

“That sounds fun. Well, I think it sounds fun.“ Ochre never tried videogames before, either, and the excuse of ‚I’m not from around here‘ held its obvious faults. „Maybe we should have like, a Negaverse party after Halloween. I dunno how well videogames will work down here, though - last time I brought my cell phone out down here a youma sucked it dry and tried to eat me next.“ He laughed, despite the threat to his life. „I guess I got lucky.“
Ochre decided he was satisfied with the decorum. It was only one room, but he lacked any remaining decorations to put over the walls. Budgets were low this year, and he lacked a lot of understanding for how much effort and energy it took to deck out a house or a space in a particularly spooky fashion. His choices looked fairly paltry compared to some of the places he looked up online. Oh well, he supposed; he still had no idea if decorating Negaverse property was acceptable. He couldn’t see the harm, though.
Ochre keyed back into the conversation when he heard that Arseno lived alone. „Isn’t it weird to live by yourself though? I mean, not like people look down on it or anything but, with all that space and no one else around I don’t think it sounds super appealing.“ What happens if you get attacked by a senshi in your own home or something? Or like, the house catches fire while you’re sleeping? I don’t wanna be down an agent that way.
„Um, so I don’t wanna interrupt your studies, but do you think we could work on making a Halloween party or something? It’s kinda late in the game, but I think I have some ideas about how to get the invitations out. What do you say?“ssbrosb if arseno accepts we can probably do a fade-out close of them hunkering down to start discussing party business. i think we've tackled the prompt party pretty thoroughly~

Arseno chuckled a bit at Ochre's phone story. Perhaps he had been here too long, laughing at stories of youma trying to eat people, but it seemed as if the other hadn't been too bothered by it.
Arseno shrugged a shoulder at Ochre's question. "It's fine by me I can control everything in there which is nice, so I don't have to worry about food being stolen. And if it's messy then it's my fault and I don't have to tell anyone they need to clean up." He replied, smiling a bit. "Having the fridge all to yourself is probably the best part."
Arseno brightened at the idea for a party. "Sounds good to me if you're willing to send the invitations out. I think a party would be fun at least." Though they would have to watch over the food and drinks, with those in the Negaverse one never knew if a fellow agent would be willing to poising another. Or at least he had already met a few other agents who creeped him out like crazy.
"If you want, we can start planning it here? Or is there somewhere else you want to go to talk about it?"Hetzerei If you want to put up a closing post that's fine! Otherwise I can edit this one to make it a close post.

“Sweet.“ Ochre grinned. „You actually make living alone sound pretty good. I don’t think I’d ever move out, though. I like my general’s cat too much.“ And the general too, but he didn’t want to cause problems.
„Okay,“ he started, clapping his hands together, „I’m pretty sure I can just get some addresses from the information database and just like… Kill my hand with invitation writing or something. It won’t be hard. Plus, I mean, a lot’s happened so maybe it’ll build some solidarity. Is that the right word? I don’t remember.“ Ochre scratched his head. How long had it been since he went into formal learning, now? Sometimes it felt like his brain was leaking out of his ears. Was school a proper investment for the Negaverse? They built Romano’s recently, so it must’ve been…
Afterward, he forced himself to return to topic. „Here’s a good place, I think. So, this is what I had in mind, but feel free to like, correct me when it’s something weird or you think nobody would do it…“
