Kaimi seemed to be having a rather good day when it came to finding shiny stones of various sorts buried in the bottom of the river bed he was currently investigating. He'd almost say that it was too good a day, as though he couldn't do wrong... and to him it was strange. It seemed as though his barbels set to buzzing in certain places, something that he'd figured out was a sign. It was as though the gems were calling out to him or something! He'd almost say that it was magic but why would someone like him be chosen to have a magical gift like that? As he didn't think it made sense he saw no reason to think too hard on it and instead see it as some sort of blessing instead! It were as though the gems were calling out to him from their hiding spots in the deep mud so maybe it wasn't the gems per say but instead Uukai who was reaching out to him? The Goddess of the Swamp and Marsh was in charge of the area he was diffing around in the passed few days. She might have taken a liking to his visits and was just offering him up some gifts, right? Taking that as being what it must meant he was more then happy to accept, digging up the various colored gems, putting them in the pouch that he had tied at his waist at the moment. The more of these he gathered the better things would go for him later in life. Presently Kaimi was saving back all that he could so that he would be able to move out of his older brother's house the moment that he was able. Having a place of his own where he could start a salvage team of his own and possibly a real family of his own was Kaimi's big dream. It was something he'd achieve only through hard work... and perhaps the blessing of a certain, wonderful, Swamp Goddess.

Moani swam on their back, gently swaying and letting the water take them wherever it desired. They didn’t have anything to do today, all chores had been done the day before and her parents were off helping a couple bring new children to the world. So close to the birth Moani was not allowed to come with them, they didn’t have the skills yet. That was okay, they liked just drifting about like this and soaking up some of the rays of sun that filtered through the water. It was an easy day, they could not complain about a thing!
And then they heard some rummaging. At first, Moani ignored it. It was probably some wildlife scourging through the mud for some food or something. But then they heard a clink and that made them whirl onto their stomach, hair wild about them. Moani pushed the strands out of their face, eyes narrowing as they scanned the water bed. So far it looked like it was just reeds that flowed. Moani swam a little bit forward, straining their ears to see if they could hear any other noises. When there was nothing, they flipped back onto her stomach and relaxed.
This time, Moani swam about. It was still a very slow pace, but at least they were getting somewhere. They entered the reeds and just kept on moving forward until they was out of them and then bam! Their head smacked right into someone and they flipped over.
“Oh I am so…” Their eyes started at the dark skin tone. Oh no! “Sorry…” They finally finished softly before swimming back a bit. “I didn’t mean it.”

So caught up was he with his work that he really didn't notice that someone else was about until they came through the cloudy area of mud that he was kicking up and ran into him. It was something that startled the young Menehune, dragging him out of his digging trance. Jerking himself up right he starred at the one before him, one hand rubbing his head as the other set to apologizing to him. He blinked a couple times before giving a smile, "Oh! It's not a problem, I really wasn't paying attention myself." Now that he'd been drawn out of his trance though his eyes were on the one before him, studying them, and he couldn't help but smile as he realized his luck. It was another of the Kaha'iko tribe! He set to waving his hands for a moment in the water, as though that would be able to get the debris to somehow clear up faster... which it didn't. Giving a bit of a shake of his head he looked over at the other and asked, "I'm sorry about mucking up the water, I was digging for something." He always felt bad about making a mess around the Kaha'iko because they were all so bright, pretty, and shiny... messing things up around them seemed almost like a crime in the Menehune's mind, one that he hoped this one would forgive him for.

"Oh I don't mind," they really didn't. Moani had just thought it could have been some fish or something digging about in the mud. Not a Menehune... "I didn't think I'd actually stumble on someone." Not that they could complain, at least she wasn't wondering about alone anymore. Perhaps they'd be up for a bit of a conversation and anyway she was curious to know what exactly thy were digging about for.
"Did you lose something? Or maybe you're looking for some kind of treasure?" Those were all very good and very valid reasons to be digging about, and certainly the Kaha'iko wanted to know. Perhaps they could help if they had lost something or maybe find treasure of their own if allowed.

Kaimi gave a smile as he shifted himself so he was treading water in front of the pretty Kaha'iko, "Good, good. And you're not hurt or anything, right? I'd hate to think my hard head caused anyone trouble." He said with a smile. Last thing he wanted was to hurt anyone. As the other one asked him about what he was doing he found himself starring, his brown eyes going for a moment wide, before he smiled, "Wow! Are you able to read minds?" He asked, unable to help but to swim just a bit closer, as though trying to figure out if the other was using magic. It was possible and it was impressive! Clapping his hands together the young Menehune said, "It's as you say, I was searching for treasure. There are a lot of crystals to be found in the mud around here and I was searching for those. So what brings you here? The same?"

"Oh no not at all!" Actually they would have treated anything that wasn't really major on their own. Their father had taught them just little simple things to keep them safe when they were out and about. A few herbs and plants here and there to treat scraps and bruises and how to bandage when necessary. Really, they were quite apt at such things!
"Oh no I don't read mind," Moani gave a small nervous laugh when the Menehune got closer. "Crystals really?" Their gaze swept the area wondering if she too could find some. "I'm here looking for a few herbs actually." This was the perfect place for one particular herb and she had already spotted a few she could pick. "Do you mind if I gather some? I won't bother you anything and if I find any crystals I can let you know?" It was a win win for both of them!

"I'm glad." Knowing that the young one was alright put his heart at ease. He gave a smile before his attention turned to what he'd been doing, then back to the other once more. So they were looking for herbs? A curious look appeared on his face and he found himself asking in a curious manner, "Medical herbs or the sort that are used when it comes to making food?" They were two very different sets of herbs and two very different sorts of work that they went hand in hand with as well. "Hm? Oh! Yes, of course. This isn't my territory or anything, it's open for anyone to gather in from what I've heard. As such you should feel free to gather all the herbs that you need." As the other one offered to let him know if they found any crystals he smiled, "That would be wonderful! I'd... let you know if I saw any herbs but I am not terribly well versed in them." There was no telling if he'd be able to find herbs over weeds.
