True to his word, Leucite had immediate left his meeting with Queen Laurelite to schedule one with Hessionite. He wanted to bury any potential qualms between the two of them as quickly as possible. And now, on the hour of that meeting, he felt his jaw tightening as he felt the still somewhat raw rankle of his wounded pride attempting to flare up. All the same, he refused to let it get the better of him. This meeting was meant to smooth over troubled waters and build a bridge to ensure the strength and security of the Negaverse.

The Special Operations branch was important, and Leucite did not want to see it weaken from any lack of effort on his part. He wanted to ensure that he got everything he needed to get from Hessionite, to ensure that he only sent her the best and most dedicated of potential recruits for her to advise entry into the Special Operations branch.

He had once served in Special Operations, and that was a point of pride to him. He would not simply see it wither just because he had not understood Hessionites intent during their initial meeting.

He rapped his knuckles against the door of her office, and cleared his throat, returning his arm behind him before he spoke.

"General Leucite, reporting in for our meeting, Ma'am," He said, his voice clear and strong. He would swallow his pride, but not his backbone.

One Hessionite meeting start as promised

Hessonite was at her desk, papers strewn about in her own unique way of organization. Her camera was currently a paperweight on the largest stack and she looked up at the door when Leucite knocked. She had the door to conceal her emotions, which bought her a few seconds to collect herself.

She sat up straighter, brushed the hair from her face, and tried to make her desk at least slightly more presentable. She was working, though, and didn’t want to mess up where she’d paused in her project.

Papers were stacked on nearly all surfaces, sans one of the two chairs across from her desk. This, apparently, she had cleaned off specifically with him in mind.

Leucite had not been so awful that night. She could understand some of his emotions, some of his behavior. She could not condemn him so quickly, especially when he was reaching out to her.

Leucite was, after all, the only General to request a meeting with her. She had rolled that fact over in her mind several times since that night and respected him more for scheduling this meeting. Even with the response she'd gotten from the original crowd, she was confident that she had done the right thing and was determined to get the Negaverse back on its feet. Metallia had trusted her with that, and she was going to try her hardest to make her proud.

There had been a little bump in the road when she'd gotten here, that was all. She'd seen bigger bumps, and she'd overcome them all.

Hessonite drew in a final breath to compose herself; she was ready. She wanted this.

"Come in," she called, voice as clear and strong as Leucite's.

Leucite did not waste time. When she told him to come in, he opened the door, taking two steps into the room, and then closing the door behind him and making sure it shut. He was immediately struck by how... cluttered... the room seemed to be. But then, he had no room to judge. His own studio at the gym was in a very similar state, but that was neither here nor there.

A few more steps and he stopped behind the chairs. Falling into attention and snapping a crisp salute to the General-Queen. "General Leucite, reporting as ordered, Ma'am."

He dropped the salute a few moments later, not expecting a returned one since Hessonite was seated. He remained standing though, bowing his head.

"Under any other circumstance, I would open with the business at hand, unfortunately there is an elephant in the room, and if may speak candidly, I would like to address it," Lecuite said, keeping his gaze on Hessonite as he spoke, not once moving his body from attention. He would not, not until she ordered him to, because he had to prove to himself that he could do this. He could follow her orders no matter what.

Hessonite didn't rise from her seat but she nodded and kept Leucite's gaze. As he had suspected, she did not return the salute. She did, however, gesture for him to take a seat.

There were quips she could have made, about how it didn't seem like agents in Destiny City needed permission to speak candidly, but she held her tongue, and she appreciated his request and his manners.

She had been paying attention to his tone, his posture. He didn't seem like he came here for trouble. "Go ahead," she said, inclining her head a bit. "Elephant, and then business. Speak as candidly as you like."

Leucite did not sit, even when it was offered, he did move to stand behind the chair though, his hands resting lightly on the back of it as he continued to watch Hessonite, trying to judge her reactions as he spoke. Had she needled him about things from before, he would have taken it in stride. She had earned her right to criticize after all.

"A few generals spoke against you at the Special Operations meeting, I was among them," Leucite began. Knowing it to be not the most elegant opener, but it was the one that he knew would address things directly, and he was in no mood to ply platitudes. "I have thought about that night quite a bit, I left in anger, I felt betrayed by the branch that had so warmly welcomed me into the Negaverse, and that I had willingly served. I know I and several others questioned your methods and your intent. We were only looking out for those in our branch who we felt needed protection. We felt that we knew better."

"We were wrong," Lecuite said, continuing on, letting the words flow freely. "While I still do not agree with you on Lieutenants not being allowed in Special Operations, I was still wrong to speak out against you at the meeting. We all were. Special Operations requires a level of loyalty and commitment to the chain of command that is nearly impossible to train. That loyalty must either be earned or it must come naturally. Mine was both earned, and I have lived in a similar environment for most of my life. I should have known better."

"We should have come to you with our concerns after the meeting. Privately. Not in the view of all of the potential branch and those that we served along with. We openly dissented against a superior officer, and while I will defend my reason for doing so, I will fully admit that I was wrong. I was wrong, and you were fully justified in removing me from my post. To do otherwise would have only lead to more dissent and insubordination, and that is not what the Special Operations is supposed to be.

"Special Operations are the sword in Metallia's hand, they are her shield against those who would seek to convert our numberr away from the true and righteous path. They are her hunters, and her most loyal of soldiers. The moment I spoke out against you - was the moment I spat in the very face of the branch I so desperately wanted to protect. I apologize again, for this meeting should have come sooner. But, I first had to soothe my wounded pride, and accept that I was at fault. In a way, your dismissal was a boon for me, for it showed me that my path lies elsewhere." He said, lowering his head in a low, respectful bow. "For that, I wish to thank you."

"I do not expect forgiveness for my transgressions against you, nor do I expect you to forget that I wronged you in the face of the assembled Special Operations branch. But I come to you in earnest, wishing to work with you not as a direct subordinate, but as someone who wishes to see the Negaverse remain strong." He continued, as he raised his head to once more lock eyes with Hessonite.

"In order to do this, I have spoken with Queen Laurelite. I shall be founding a Training Corps. My goal is to ensure that all can find their rightful place in the Negaverse. They they will receive the proper care and training they need to see them to where their talents best suit them... To that end... I ask of you, earnestly, to provide me with the guidelines and requirements you feel would fit someone wanting entry into the Special Operations branch. So that I will have a template to mold a curriculum to ensure that the Special Operations is never wanting for talent.

"The Special Operations branch holds a... special... place in my heart, and I would not want to see it hindered or harmed by lack of talent. It is that point of pride that makes you the first of the General-Sovereigns I have come to speak to about the Training Corps, and it is that same pride that demands me to ensure that I do nothing but the best for my old branch."

With that, he forced himself to be silent, and braced for the potential, oncoming storm.

Hessonite watched quietly, with eyes like a predator ready to strike. Her expression seemed the exact opposite; she seemed like she wanted him to say more. She had seemed guarded at the beginning of the conversation, but by the time Leucite finished she found herself nodding.

"I think I like you, Leucite," she said after a final moment of thought. "And maybe you might not like me for what happened in the Special Operatives Meeting, but I stand by what I said. I respect you, though. You--you and some of the other generals. I know how hard it is to earn Metallia's favor. I know what it's like to work your way from the ground up. Unlike most of you, I know what it's like to lose everything in the process, but."

She shrugged. "My goal wasn't to piss everyone off. My goal was to make a point and know where we stand. I learned a lot. Lost a lot of favor, but." She shrugged again; she seemed convinced that what she had done was right but her shrug spoke of more emotional hurt than she'd let on. "You don't make friends when you're the boss. Of course, you don't make friends when you change things around."

She twisted one finger around her curly locks. "...Or when you push buttons. I don't have a lot of friends in Destiny City. I know this wasn't easy for you, General. I appreciate you doing this. I don't have any misgivings. It wasn't what was said, it was how it was said, and in what context. Things in the past can't be undone. I'm not a forgiving person, General, but I'll make an exception for you. And I hope that we can work forward in a productive, mutually beneficial relationship. So, before I get into your whole Training Corps..."

She jutted out a hand, as if to shake on it.

"...All forgiven?"

Leucite was half wondering if it was a trap of some sort. He knew the Negaverse was not an organization that easily forgave trespasses. He'd been in long enough to know that. All the same - if Hessonite was being earnest, it would be a dire insult to refuse her request to put everything behind them. If this was just an elaborate set up for a future punishment - then so be it - he'd take his licks and deal with them.

Moving from behind the chair, he crossed the space between them and took her hand, shaking it firmly, but not trying to crush her hand or anything - but meeting her as one would meet someone they KNEW was their superior.

"I have nothing to forgive you for," He said, plainly. "You were acting in what you felt was the Special Operation's best interests and I acted counter to it. While I doubt you and I will ever see eye-to-eye on policy in that regard, it was not my place to question your reasoning. Nor the time."

He released her hand then, and bowed his head slightly. "I am loathe to admit it - but there are many here who would do well to learn a bit more about etiquette and protocol. Myself included."

Hessonite watched him with a keen smile on her face, and even managed a light laugh. “I don’t disagree with you on that front. But, that being said. If you disagree with my methods, I am open minded to constructive criticism. Well thought out feedback goes a long way. I’m new here. I expected resistance. But I also expected support, especially from those of you that have been around the block a bit. I don’t want you to keep your mouth shut if you find a weakness in my methods.”

She shook her head for emphasis. “No. The fact is, I’ve had techniques work outside of Destiny City, and I’m going to stick with them. But it would be a disservice to Metallia to pretend like we don’t need to give it our all, here. Destiny City’s going to take a lot more work. The thread here is much bigger, and we’re going to have to work as a team. So—regardless of whatever path you take in the Negaverse, I hope you remember that I will still look at us as a team. And I expect you to come to me—privately—with grievances. We’ll work things out. All right?”

"If you'd like I can draft up a report on my suggestions. But, that was not the reason I came here today." Leucite said, once more placing his hands behind his back. "Like I said, I am here to request from you what you feelbare the base requirements for consideration into Spec Ops. What you feel an ideal canidate."

He kept his eyes on the General-Queen before giving her a realspectful nod. "This will allow me to gauge potental canidates and steer them accordingly."
