Thorne decided to bring Leila homemade sorbet on a late friday night when the world was asleep and he could pass easily in and out of the shadows without being seen. After all, flying things were often either considered UFO's out here - or really big birds that needed to be shot at, neither of which Thorne was inclined to bring upon himself.
Landing in front of the house, Thorne tucked his wings and sighed, readjusting the clothing he wore with ease. The chill of October crushed against his back, the nape of his neck, but there were few articles of clothing he owned apart from low cut tank tops that could fit his wings, and he'd wanted to stretch them on this side of Ashdown too.
Knocking on the door, Thorne sighed and shook his head, waiting to be let in lest someone on the street see a monster and start screaming.

Julian answered the door, and the Curse of Ashdown Being Full of Hot People reared its unreasonably attractive head yet again. "Hello?" Poor guy was so overcome he couldn't even notice the horns and wings. Plus the stranger smelled amazing.

Thorne blinked at Julian, wings fluttering eyes widening, and he made a small little noise in the back of his throat like surprise. He prided himself in not stumbling, in pretending to play into the idea that because Julian hadn't even bothered to make a reaction to the non-human appendages - maybe he was just -
Another one of Ashdown's most accepting.
Thorne said, "Good evening. I was looking for Leila... I'm sorry to come by unnanounced." His mouth curved into a guilty half-smile. "I haven't seen you around before."

"They're both very extroverted," Julian replied, they implicitly referring to Leila and her wife. "I've gotten used to unannounced visitors. They're out on a date, though." Now he was noticing the wings and horns and s**t. The wings were big enough that they could be wrapped all the way around the stranger and a whole other person and Julian aborted that train of thought immediately. The important thing was the other man was acting as though they weren't a big deal. So he was going to be polite and also not regard them as a big deal. "I'm Julian, Eve's nephew," he continued while waving Thorne in. The introduction had the tired cadence of someone who'd already had to say it a hundred times. "Moved here... a few weeks, almost a month ago." A month already?

Thorne smiled mildly at the comment, eyes flicking over Julian with curiosity, a warm sort of interest. His eyes roved down and up, assessing, before he added, "They put me to shame. I'm sorry to disturb you so late at night."
He followed the other in, languid and predatory, his eyes wild and galactic, pulsing with an inhuman glow. He tilted his head at Julian, eyebrow lifting.
"Alexander Thorne, but you can just call me Thorne," Thorne responded, giving a half-shrug in return. "I'm sorry for the drastic appearance. I suppose Ashdown must have done taken its toll on you, then?" He gestured to the wings, flaring them slightly, above his head. "I can make them disappear, if you'd prefer."

Julian tried not to give too much thought to the roving eyes giving him a once-over, and Thorne's apology was waved away with an inert face. "I live with two shapeshifters," he said, "so honestly I'm the weird one here. As long as you're sure you won't knock anything over. What did you want Leila for?"

"True," Thorne retorted, and laughed. "I can promise you I won't knock anything over." He shifted and set the box he'd been carrying with him down on the table, a soft rumble rippling from his throat. "I bring Leila presents sometimes, and I know she loves icecream so I brought her a treat as usual." He paused and glanced up at the other, eyes bright. "So how are you enjoying your stay?"

At the mention of ice cream Julian led Thorne into the kitchen so they could find room for it in the freezer, which was definitely more crowded than the last time he'd seen it due to the acquisition of a couple new tenants. "I'll let her know it's from you," he noted. "If you want something to drink, help yourself. I can also make tea if that's better." He leaned back against the counter to consider the question about his stay. "Obviously it's been full of surprises. I think a ghost played wingman for me a couple weeks ago." It was frighteningly easy to speak candidly about his experiences so far. Thorne was also just frighteningly easy to talk to -- it was no surprise that he and Leila had become friends. Julian hoped he wasn't going to be asked after the details of that hookup. It would be difficult to keep them to himself with that innocent face smiling back over at him. Instead of taking that risk, he made a pointed glance out the doorway to the main room of the house. "If you were here for Leila, though... I guess that means you wanted to see the eggs." elkbones gimme your best puppy face thorne

Thorne found a space in the freezer easily, and slid it shut to look at the other man with a warm grin. "Thank you," he said easily, "and it's alright. I'd rather not impose." His smile turned a little wider and he tilted his head in wonder at the mention of a ghost, laughing a little.
"Well, what better way to get acquainted with Ashdown?" He drawled, shrugging his shoulders at the other man. "It's eccentric nature is surely charming if you avoid discussing just how morbid it can get."
He paused and blinked at the mention of the eggs, and his entire disposition turned dog-like, eyes widening into the most beautifully exaggerated puppy-dog look he could maintain without even realizing he was maintaining.
"Oh," he said, clumsily, "Well, that would be nice, but again, I don't want to impose..."
But now, he really, really did.

Even if Julian had the mind to say no, there's no way he could now. That face, it was just so... there were a jumble of words ranging from innocent to outright sinful he could use to describe it. Instead of doing so he opted to wave Thorne along in the direction of the dining area. Leila had put them on the table there purely so people would notice them and ask her about them. There were seven eggs in all, safely locked away behind the clear plastic dome of a home incubator. "Well, here they are."

Thorne did not relent at all, even when Julian led him in the direction of the dining area. His entire face was a perfect puppy dog expression. If sheer will and power of the cosmic universe could impose a wagging tail and bent ears onto him, it probably would, because he looked outright puppy-ish.
Whether or not it was his actual expression or a very dangerously cultivated talent of his was up for debate.
At the sight of the eggs, Thorne made a loud "Aah!" noise and moved closer to them, settling down at the table with a wild-eyed stare of reverence and excitement. Animals were the one thing that got him excited every time.
"How long until they hatch?" he asked Julian, practically wagging his tail at him, tank top sliding low to show off his tattoos and the flat plane of his chest.

"I'm not sure." Julian was, strategically, standing behind Thorne while he sat to view eggs at just the right angle so a wing was in the way to discourage any more bawdy glances on his part. Nice move, Julian. "No more than a week or so, I think. You should text Leila if you want an exact date."

Thorne hums a happy melody in his throat, the sort of lullaby sound that was warm and fuzzy with fondness. His wings flutter a little bit around him before simply dispersing into smoke and wispy black shadows that burn away beneath the light, and he settles a little closer, chin in hand.
"I will," Thorne retorts, grinning back at Julian, nothing but sharp lines and tattoos, "I hope you don't mind seeing more of me around here until then."
Oblivious and pleased, and puppy-like, Thorne sighs and pushes away from the table, turning to grin at Julian.
"Thanks for showing me," he says, all warmth.

"Of course." Julian nodded, on both counts - a covert admission he'd enjoyed Thorne's company. "If you stop by during the day, I can introduce you to the finches." He squinted in thought. "If you don't mind going wingless for that. They'd be terrified otherwise."

"I think I can manage that," Thorne replied, dangerous and devious, his mouth curved into a wicked smile. "Though I do get a kick out of terrifying the masses. Or making them stare. I won't lie, you let me down on that front." He stretched his arms above his head as he padded back for the door, exhaling a sharp sound of pleasure and turning to look back at Julian.
Warmly, he added, "Let me know if you like anything in particular and I'll bring a peace offering too. Icecream is usually reserved for Leila, but I'd love to get into the good graces of the nephew as well."cibarium good to end in the next few posts? O VO
