Creepy Crawlers
Prompt 1

Counts as 3 EXP Growth Points, or 5 RP growth Points (only if done with a friend)
Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7

Something strange is going on...

Creatures that don't belong are appearing in the middle of the night, like ghosts, haunting the world around them. Their creepy markings make them stand out, and their dark coloring leaves many feeling cursed. These creepy crawlers are invading the world of Tendaji, and it's up to brave souls to step up and run them off, or even tame them as pets.

Do you think you have what it takes to face these creepy creatures that have wandered away from home? Well test your luck, and see how you fare.

|| These spooky familiars have been spotted in the following locations: Maglardilla (Oba, Matori, and Yael), Perzi (Jauhar/Chibale and Tale), Keldari (Sauti and Zena). Only individuals in set locations can encounter the specific familiars.

Aaircia was still stuck in bed, trying to heal from her ordeal. She looked blankly up at the ceiling of the room she was in, mind lost in a fog of nothingness. So much had been happened, and she still could not quite wrap her head around it. Once again, she was in a strange place with strange people, but, this time, it was mostly of her own doing. There were many strange animals around, too.

She knew that Oba still held many mysteries to her, so much continued to surprise her during her stay. One of those surprises managed to pull her from the edge of her numbness!

When she heard the scratching noise, she gave it little attention at first. The scratching continued though, and her honey eyes shifted slightly to look at the doorway. No one was standing there. She must have been hearing things... She turned her head straight again, closing her eyes. Maybe sleep would come for at least a little while...? The scratching came again though, and it was only pain that kept her from screaming when she finally saw the source above her head, clinging to the ceiling.

It was some kind of bug monster! It had a long horn, no fur, skinny legs that certainly didn’t look like they could hold up that body, and.. some sort of skin that was connecting those spindly limbs.

Eyes wide, Aaricia pushed herself and looked around as quickly as she could. No one else was there. She was ready to try screaming for help when the bug suddenly dropped to the floor, landing on its back. Aaricia let out a yelp of surprise, and gripped the bed sheet to her chest. The monster bug thing laid there, legs moving weakly in the air.

Slowly, Aaricia slid her legs off the bed. It was the first time she had put weight on her legs in a while, and they shook weakly. She gave herself a moment before leaving the support of the bed to creep toward the creature. It continued to reach at the air... The skin that stretched between those legs looked dry and cracked. Perhaps that was how it was supposed to look? Or maybe this was all a trick to get her close, and then it would eat her face!

She thought of a conversation she had once had with a man of Yeal and frowned at herself. Different did not automatically make something bad. Nearby was a pitcher of water and a metal cup for her to drink with. Her arms shook as she grabbed the pitcher and set it on the floor, managing to not spill it everywhere. She grabbed the edge of her sheet to dip it into the water, and cautiously tapped it against the hard shell. Goodness, it was hot!

“Come on, man. That thing’s worth more than your week’s pay!” a gruff voice yelled out.

Aaricia stiffened up and looked back at the boarded up window to her room, the angled slats allowing both privacy and a breeze.

Another voice whined back in response. “Come on. We’ve been lookin’ all day for this damned thing! We brought a few of them things from Jauhar. Just make the guy buy a different one. He won’t even notice, I bet.”

The voices trailed off as they passed the building. Feeling a tug on the sheet, Aaricia looked down to see the creature was gripping the sheet with one leg. The tip of the sheet had been pulled into the creature’s mouth. “Are you what they are looking for?” she asked softly. “You were taken from your home, too?” She poured a little more water onto the sheet, and another twig leg gripped the damp cloth, while a rear leg hooked around Aaricia’s arm. How could she have let herself forget? Different was not a trait to fear...
