Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.
What exactly is the traveler showing off? Roll 1d6 to determine what strange item has been found using the guide below:
Rolled 1-2
The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, warped a bit on the edges and covered with an unknown language. It looked similar to what you've read, and you think you can make out words, but overall it doesn't make much sense.
Rolled 3-4
The traveler pulls out a strange piece of metal, wound around and almost bouncy in nature. It seems a bit sharp on the edges, but in general it looks like it could possibly be some sort of jewelry piece, if it was smaller.
Rolled 5-6
The traveler pulls two strange pieces of metal, which don't seem to go together outside of their color. One is covered in a language that sort of looks familiar, but isn't fully legible. The other is a winding spiral, which is too big to wrap comfortably around a wrist.

Orin ran and stomped through the city market, kicking up the dry sand and dust as he went with his bare feet. It always made their nanny upset when he dirtied his feet, and while he should be more respectful and it was something his mama always said... well... it was too fun sometimes to see her angry. And she never let them go anywhere so if she had to wash his feet sometimes it served her right.
Orin looked back at the nanny, who was sitting on a bench watching him play, and waved with a devilish grin. He could see her sigh from where she was sitting and his grin turned bigger before he turned and ran some more. He got closer to a group of people, hearing all of the murmuring and whispers, but among that was a very loud voice. Someone was bragging it sounded like, and Orin knew all about that tone of voice. He stopped in his tracks and shimmied his way through the crowd and closer to the person talking in the middle.
They were holding up something strange. It was glittery like metal, but he had never seen metal like this before. Not that color at least. And it was coiled around really tight. The man in the center was wearing clothes and cloths not from Oba. It looked like he didn't really belong anywhere, or at least from anywhere that Orin knew about. The man raised his voice over the group of people. "It washed ashore from the ocean I tell you! I've never seen anything like it before." The man started. Orin nodded his head to himself, he would agree with the guy. "Look at the way it gleams, the way it sparkles in the sun. I bet you it's from the gods." He held up the coiled metal and showed off the way it could catch the light. Orin was more than intrigued.
He came forward and tugged on the man's cloaks. "If it came from the gods why would they give it to you?" He piped up. He just couldn't understand why the gods Orin believed in would give something so special to a man not from Oba. What would they be thinking?
The man stopped suddenly in his ranting and looked at Orin quizzically. "The gods give many gifts, they don't just give them to specific people." He started.
"If the gods gifted it, it would have to be to a person, or else it's not a proper gift." Orin argued. If it wasn't going to someone in particular... then why would it be considered a gift? Maybe the gods lost it, and this guy stole it from the gods. "If it wasn't meant for you, why don't you give it back?"
The man chuckled and patted Orin on the head. "Oh youth" he laughed to the other adults in the crowd and they joined him. It infuriated Orin. What was the joke? Why was him being young so funny? He crossed his arms and stuck out his chin. "I mean it. You say it was a gift. If it wasn't meant for you then you're just stealing from the gods. It's not nice of you." Orin reached up to tug the coil out of the man's hands. "You should give it back."
The man lifted the coil out of Orin's short reach and his face was a bit more solemn. "The gods give their gifts to whomever would be smart enough to find them, boy. You should know better." He addressed the adults again. "I believe this to be an omen. Whether it's good or bad tidings I'm not yet sure, but I believe that the gods will be showering us with more gifts from their divine generosity. It might make many a wealthy man." He lifted the coil once more and twisted it in the sun. Orin could tell he was trying to hold back a smirk like he was up to something. He knew that look because it was just another look that Orin liked to use when trying to get his siblings to do something for him. "With enough persuasion I might be inclined to part with such a gift..."
Orin scoffed. He was just after money! "I think you're a phony!" Orin yelled out before turning tail and leaving the man behind. He didn't believe a word that man had said. His nanny was already walking toward him, it looked like his fun was over already.
