[FIN] Creepy Crawlers - Nuri & Aseara FIN

Creatures that don't belong are appearing in the middle of the night, like ghosts, haunting the world around them. Their creepy markings make them stand out, and their dark coloring leaves many feeling cursed. These creepy crawlers are invading the world of Tendaji, and it's up to brave souls to step up and run them off, or even tame them as pets.

With the kids being older now, it was nice to have a lot more time with Nuri. And by a lot, Aseara tried to spend almost all of her free time with him. The kids were asleep, and Aseara was currently cuddled up to Nuri in bed. She was peacefully asleep until a sound brought her back from the dream world; it was some kind of scratching and buzzing. She groaned a bit, cuddling closer to Nuri thinking the noise would leave but it did not. It persisted. Groaning again, Aseara opened her eyes and could only see the darkness.

“Nuri,” she whispered softly. “What’s that noise?”
 

[Elyessi]

By the time Aseara asked the question, Nuri was already awake and still like a board. He took a long moment to listen to the silence, hopeful that Aseara would let him listen and figure out what the noise was. It didn't sound like the scratching of Perzi claws, although often the night would be full of the noise of the three cats his children brought home. It also wasn't the sound of any of his familiars, although he was a bit concerned none were awake either. Why wasn't Naraka moving about to find out what was going on.

Taking a deep breath, he finally moved to sit up, his eyes narrowed in the darkness, and his hand reaching out to brush against Aseara's arm.

"I...am not sure..." he finally whispered, taking a breath before moving to get out of the bed.

“Nuri…” Aseara whispered into the darkness but he’d already slipped out of bed. Sitting back a bit, Aseara went to find the matches, the darkness was thick and even though the moon shined outside they were drenched in the shadows. Feeling for a match, Aseara finally found one and lit up one of the bedside candles by her bed. The light was soft, and didn’t illuminate as much as she had wished it had but if she lit up a few more they’d be able to see something.

“Take a candle with you.” She extended the candle she had lite up towards him.

Nuri was near the window, peering outside to their silent back yard. The waters of their pool were undisturbed beside the creature that slept below, silver and shining in the moonlight. Everything seemed calm, outside of the scratching that appeared to be coming from the hall. Did something sneak in through the windows there? Shaking his head, he turned back to look at Aseara.

Returning to her side, he took a candle.

"It's in the hall...I'm not sure what it sounds like, but it might be a stray creature who flew in the window...." his eyes darted to the side, where no additional candles were set, "Maybe you should stay by my side?".

“In the hall?” What could have gotten in? Was it dangerous? Aseara was no familiar expert. “Nuri the children,” instantly she was by his side. She looped her arm around his and gently squeezed even though she wanted to squeeze the life out of his arm. The trips were older now, but still if there was a creature in their home they could still be in danger. She hoped their Perzi would keep them safe. “What could possibly have gotten into the house?” Aseara followed as Nuri moved, she was just a little behind him but she didn’t want to hinder him either so she tried to keep up a good pace.  

[Elyessi]

Nuri wasn't as concerned about the kids as Aseara. Sure, he thought of them, but his worry was more they'd try and fight said creature than they'd cower in fear. They took after his passion for animals a bit too much, and he had to admit he raised them to be brave in the face of such animals. If their capturing of three perzi wasn't enough of an indicator, maybe it was their desire to climb atop his largest animals and making it with ease.

However, he didn't try to reassure her, as he knew she was justified in her concerns. If anything, she was more fierce than a mother snapptrotter when her children were potentially in harm's way.

So, he instead focused on her second question. What could have gotten inside?

"I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem big. Maybe it's a zore...although it'd be far from home..." As he moved toward the door, his hand brushed against hers while his other lifted to light the way. He didn't have his whip, but he was sure he could find something in the hall if there was a threat outside.

“A zore?” Aseara whispered quietly. She knew very little about familiars but her knowledge had expanded some since her meeting with Nuri. He knew they were some type of scavenger birds native to Oba, but she’d never met one in the city unless brought in by someone let alone in their neighbourhood.

“Do you think it could belong to someone?” She didn’t know anyone who would want to keep one. But then she spotted something crawling on the ground and her hand went to her mouth to stifle a shout. It was at the end of the hallway and while it was trying to stay as far from the light as possible, the candle still managed to catch some of its body.

“That’s not a zore,” Aseara said.

The Beast Master was silent as he moved throughout the room, letting Aseara's words fill his mind and keep him focused. As she lifted the light, his eyes caught a glimpse of long legs, hard shells, and membranes like wings. Maglardilla, the bugs of the jungle, were crawling around his home. Despite the surprise, Nuri felt his shoulders relax.

These things wouldn't harm his home or children.

"No, it's not. But it wont hurt anyone. We just might have some issues encouraging them back outside..."

“What is it?” They were still getting closer and now they could finally get a better look at whatever had entered their home. Aseara made a face. “Are you sure it’s not dangerous?” What if it spit venom or something when it got agitated? She trusted Nuri to be able to handle the thing though.

“So how do we get it back outside?” Maybe with food? Maybe another familiar? She didn’t really want anything large trampling through the house and walking up the kids but if that’s what it was going to take then that was what was going to happen.
 

[Elyessi]

"It's a bug from Jauhar, the Alkidike sisters eat them for meals from what I understand..." He then laughed as he shook his head, brushing a hand across her shoulder lightly, "No, the most harm they can do is if they glide at you, and even then they will do more damage to themselves than what they'd do to us..."

As he neared the side, he grabbed one of their candlesticks on the side that weren't lit. Maybe if they used a little fire they could inspire them to go in a different direction. So, he grabbed it and lit it with their candle, fully illuminating the creepy crawlers before turning back to his wife.

"Just hold out the candle and wave it lightly back and forth, we might be able to scare them back without hurting them..." he paused a moment before realizing they were near the stairs, "...if we can, let's try and funnel them to the window...are you ready?"

Elyessi

“They eat them?” There was shock and horror in her voice, they ate that thing?! Aseara made a disgusted face. It did make her wonder however if Nuri had ever eaten one before. She made another face before pushing the thought to the side; they had to get these things out as quickly as possible from their home.

“Ready!” Aseara began waving the candle at the bug while slowly advancing on it. “Shoo!” She whispered at it angrily and made hand gestures at it. she really wanted to be back to bed cuddling with Nuri instead of out here and trying to get a pest out of their home.
 

[Elyessi]

Nuri didn't respond, already hearing his wife's uncertainty about the claim. She was of another breed, and didn't really live that type of life. Maybe when she was younger, back during a world she didn't often share with him, but not now. As she waved the candle, he moved forward and swooped his low. The Maglardilla closest to him began to chitter, and then climb the wall away from the fire. It was then that he pushed ahead, and soon the thing was gliding away and out the window without any sort of difficulty.

It was then that he moved to support his wife, bringing a bit more light but unable to get close enough with her being the closest. It'd be up to her to initiate the chase.

One thing had gotten out but the other was stubborn, little did it now Aseara could be just as bull headed. She moved forward, this time extending the light as close to it as possible and waving it around as fast as she could manage without extinguishing the flame. Finally the thing made some noises, which only made Aseara get closer least it wake up the children, before it finally followed it’s friends down and out the window. Mission accomplished, Aseara turned to Nuri with a smile and approached him, blowing out his candle and then her own. She cuddle up against him, giving him a kiss on the lips

“Let’s get back to bed,” she murmured quietly.
 

[Elyessi]

Nuri chuckled at her response, coming close and laying a gentle kiss on her forehead and following it up with one on her cheek.

"Let's." He said simply, blowing out the candle set he had and letting her hold on to her own. It was an eventful night, and he was exhausted because of it disrupting their sleep. He could feel his body still tired from the day before, and he wanted to just get some sleep and talk about it in the morning. Hopefully there'd be no more surprises for the rest of the night.
