-Masquarade -Located inside of an abandoned amusement park -Murder Mystery!
Story intro:
Three weeks before the date, news began to spread that (name) would be hosting a Masquerade Ball at an abandoned amusement park. Its signs have long since fallen, the rides are rusted or rotted, and the booths are looted clean of all items. The gates creak and dust covers every uncovered inch of surface
Breaking in to set up the party was a rather easy thing to do for (host). (Sure it was breaking and entering, but who'd know?) First he cleaned the area for a dance floor, then stocked the food booths with delicious treats, and finally, hooked up popular music tracks to the old speaker system that surprisingly still functioned.
By all appearances it would be a simple Masquerade fundraiser on Halloween, hosted in an abandoned theme park. What could possibly go wrong?
NOTICE: Do not dance on graves while devouring pot plants
Art contest Proposal:
You see how dreary this place is right? I mean, sure we livened it up a little, but it's missing...something. So, why not brighten it up with a couple of art pieces, provided by you, the guests!
Draw any of the hosts, individually or in a group, and you may win amazing prizes~
I am the thread admin and Mush is the main host. All other positions are still open.
The park was shut down years ago due to one too many accidents on their unsafe rides. The last one killed someone so they were forced to lock it up.
Now it's party time!!

For characters I don't want to tread on the toes of Heart Break Cafe who are doing a monster theme. That's one reason I chose a Masquerade. And we've done supernatural before. I am putting this out there so we can be our own rp and generate our own interest from people.

Mush and I have come up with a solid idea we want to run by everyone. We feel a murder mystery is more fitting for Halloween than any other time of year. And we propose that it's extra perfect to happen in the abandoned closed down amusement park. As admin I would take care of roles so everyone who wants to rp can, and no one will know who the killer is except the killer and myself. I'm thinking Mush's rpc will host a huge fundraising masquerade at the park, then the chosen victim turns up dead. The player playing a detective will arrive on seen, but all of the guests are challenged to find the killer first.

I'm not sure I see why the rest of the host/co-hosts wouldn't know who the killer is? It wouldn't really change anything, it would help with plotting but their characters wouldn't know who the killer is obviously. The guests can work with the detective and give suggestions and alibis. Maybe the detective tries to question everyone who 'seems guilty' including the guests. Murder mysteries are always fun when the guests can be considered suspects, even if we know they couldn't have killed anyone.
Also possibly having a day before anyone is killed so the guests can possibly get to know the characters before anyone becomes a suspect. Often times at irl murder mystery dinners, there is some big event that happens where everyone meets the characters and then the person dies after the guests see how the victim interacts with the rest of the characters. Then from there the detective often questions the suspects one at a time in front of the guests, guests and characters all can interrupt and argue if they wish.
Then whoever is 'voted' by the guests as being guilty is taken away. Either they give a complete confession or they argue their innocence.
That's just my experience writing and planning murder mystery dinners. I know this will be different as it is a forum based thing and not a real dinner but still. (also getting an extremely over the top character is always fun and it pulls attention away from the real killer.

Because knowing changes how one reacts to things. And changes how the person acts. I don't mean the rpc but the writer. Sometimes they avoid a character, or they press too hard for someone else. Often people don't even realize they're doing it. And the party will happen for a bit before anyone dies. But all rpcs are suspects and all could be the victim. No one will know until it happens is the point. It's meant to be real not 'fake'.
Usually the one running it gives a card to each person though. And only they know what they have. We use to do these for birthday parties. But that's how we do it here.

I guess, though I just figured if you are host or a co-host you shouldn't let your knowledge of the killer interfere with how your character acts.
I've never done it at a birthday party or with close friends. I imagine it would be different doing it that way versus being a formal event. Would you want to randomly assign the jobs than after people have put their characters forward? Or how would you decide which character plays which part?

In another guild, we did a murder mystery event. Since having one of the contests was guessing the murderer, what we did was make sure all the suspects had a motive and an equal opportunity to murder the victim (they were shoved in a freezer). Then near the end, we use the RNG to pick the murderer. It does mean that people guessing the murderer are totally just guessing, but it helped to make sure no one told their friends who to pick.
This was based on a murder mystery kit my work used for our halloween party irl, lol. I ended up the murderer, and it was so much fun!
Edit: This was the event. The hardest part of it was people who wanted to play suspects not showing up or posting to look suspicious enough. Because of that, we had to narrow down who to include in the RNG to make it plausible.

The way we did it was drawing the parts, like how you draw names from a hat. I was thinking of doing it either randomly or having people volunteer and picking from the volunteers. For some half the fun is not knowing. And Mush and I thought the staff here might want to fully play, guessing their way through the game for real. I would say whatever is most popular as a way to choose though.

I will totally be the Host/Victim for this event since Halloween had offline obligations for me. I might be able to post something the 1st day/night of the event depending on when that is.

Got it, thank you! heart

So we all know the setting is at an old abandoned amusement park. Can it be named the Old Abandoned Amusement Park? Then on-lookers can be all like "Hey! Look! Its the old abandoned Old Abandoned Amusement park!"
