Thorn had been about the town, attempting to fight boredom when some startled calls brought his attention to a crowd of people hustling away from something. Well this was very odd indeed in the flowing grasslands of Tale, nothing scary besides the odd regal kinfa lived here. He hurried in the opposite direction to spot..a cat? Here of all places? Were those things not supposed to live only in Oba? With like the sand? Was it on a birding rampage or what?
As he got closer to the smallish animal, he could see why everyone had gone off in a rush, it had strange markings like it had been magicked or something. Well he was no expert on magic, but he and Ime had dealt with their fair share of judging before knowing. It was right then and there that he decided the perzi..thats what they were called he was sure, needed a champion, in the form of himself, whether or not it thought it needed one was beside the point here. He would try to tame it and take it home to Ime. She would understand right off the bat as he had. That was part of what he loved about her, her open heart and her kindness. This kitty would not be wild or unfed for long, it would probably end up being atrociously spoiled as was proper for them. He had heard that some breeders bred revered perzi which sold for top dollar in the homeland. However, this would be a personal pet and not want for anything ever again..it might not have its own palace, but surely once they found a nice house it would have the run of that.
Now for the tricky part..actually catching the cat. Luckily the market was nearby and the shouts and yells of people describing their wares gave Thorn a most mischievous idea indeed. Thus he found himself buying a whicker basket of all things. He thought it would be about the right size to fit around the cat. Anything to save himself the scratches, after working with sailscales for so long, he couldn’t afford to gain anymore.
To that end he snuck up the alley behind the perzi, catch basket in hand..thankfully his arms were nice and long, it would be getting close enough with his abominable height that would be the real problem here. Nothing like a giant leafling looming over you to get you to vacate in a hurry.
Thorn kept to the shadows and leaped unexpectedly at the cat, enclosing it within the ring of the basket and gasping with excitement as he put his weight down partially on the rim, checked for paws, then pinned it properly. Now he had a cat..he just didn’t know what to do with it next. He didn’t have much in the way of a basket cover and if he let go..well he would loose the cat forever.
Eventually he concocted a plan pulled his bag over the basket, pinned the whole thing down with all four limbs and worked the bag under the rim until he could pull the drawstring around cat and basket. There! He knew this grocery bag was going to come in handy! Just apparently not so much for groceries as was his original intent. He ignored the hissing and spitting merrily, and toted his prize back to Ime. Eventually the yowling and angry noises subsided and he was most pleased with his success.
