Same season different year. Aiden knew it would happen again, it was only a matter of time on when. Summer was gone and winter upon them and yet again Alexandre had initiated his buying spree.
“I swear I hid those cards.” Aiden rolled his eyes. “Must have expedited replacement ones…”
Pulling open the drawer he had stashed the Visa cards in revealed his assumption was true, the one that was connected to Alex’s parents account was still there. The man had a problem that’s for sure.
Just like before boxes were arriving at the house on an almost daily basis and while the scented candles were pleasing, they were in overabundance and completely unnecessary; they still had several left over from last year. “Where the hell do you even have room for all of this?” He wondered out loud as he sifted through another opened box that held yet another set of candle holders.
“I swear, you’re the reason Yankee Candle,” he paused to look at the side of the cardboard box for the logo. “Yeah… I’m sure you’re the sole reason they stay in business.” Nobody in their right mind would spend this much on decorations every year. Ever three years maybe, hell even four would be more sane, but every single year… yeah Alexandre had a problem with obsessive compulsive buying and in truth it kind of scared him a bit.
Halloween was right around the corner and Aiden knew that meant incense were going to be added into the mix as well as themed decorations; minus the spiders of course. It was fine and all, this was Alex’s house, but it would be wiser from a financial standpoint to at least buy things that were not tied to a single holiday but rather a more general theme. But who was he to tell his boyfriend what he could or couldn’t buy; he knew getting into this relationship that the blonde had a weak spot for candle collections and the works, he just kind of hoped it was something that would tone down over time.
It was when the two had last talked this time last year while Alex had been unwrapping his latest purchases that Aiden had found out where the money was coming from. Seemed that not all of the money came from his parents which was a relief to find out at least. To his surprise Alex not only had a job at a clothing boutique but he seemed to also have part ownership as well in addition to his teaching job at Romano’s. If there was one thing Aiden had to give the other credit for it was that he was at least hard working and earned his money; it wasn’t completely necessary for him to rely on his parents credit card.
Now if only he’d stop spending it like water...
“Times like this I don’t know if I should hug you or strangle you…” He sighed again when Cadha came bolting into the room barking excitedly. “Ohh… no you don’t.” Aiden leaned over to wrangle the little terrier and carry him out of the guest bedroom.
At the moment Alex was upstairs taking a shower. Winding down from another full day before he’d be down to work on grading the art some students had done. It seemed, from what his partner had told him, that he didn’t have a lot of students so it shouldn’t take long for him to complete. It still had to get done though which worked out well since he still had some homework to do. Alexandre would work on grading and he would work on his math while candles would burn around them, filling the living room with one scent or another, and the fireplace would roar with fiery life and warm the room.
