Constynce was quite delighted today. She was getting a break from all of the formal discussions that had been surrounding her as of late. She could let loose a little, and focus on what she loved. ..Not that Constynce's idea of 'letting loose' was anything much outside of procrastinating, but still!

A foreign trader was said to be traveling through Tale, and Constynce was wandering one of the larger markets around to hopefully find this trader. Maybe they had some plants or seeds that she didn't have? That would be fun to play with.

It was really just a sheet on the ground with bowls of paste and leaves, dried herbs around her, some of them hanging on sticks she stuck in the ground, trying. It was pretty clear what she did.

She sat there, cross legged, a book out and mortar and pestle in hand. Her hair was in a messy sort of bun and her tongue was poking out as she concentrated. Her ears, however, did seem to wiggle when someone got close.

Constynce had found the trader, but was decidedly underwhelmed by the man. Apparently, she had misunderstood what he was; a trader of Tale items to the other countries.

Disappointed, she continued her trip through the market anyway. Maybe something else would perk her up?

Then she saw the woman sitting on the blanket, mixing for all to see. The woman was so focused! Intrigued, but unwilling to disturb, Constynce walked over and squatted quietly next to the blanket, eyes locked on the process with interest.

When footsteps approached her green eyes lifted up to spot another woman there watching her. She paused and then blinked while the rest of her face turned into a business smile.

"Welcome," San'thari said, going back to the task at hand. "I make and sell salves, balms, potions, and powders to help heal and treat illnesses. I'm not a healer, and advice you go to a healer if these do not help. My name is San'thari. How can I help you today?"

Constynce looked up from the pestle when those hands stopped moving, meeting those soft green eyes with interest. "Oh, I don't have an illness. Not at the moment, anyway. Thank you, San'thari." She pointed to what the woman was working on. "I am learning more about the uses of herbs, myself. What is it you are making?" Brow rising, she gave a little nod of greeting. "By the way, I am Constynce."

"An elderly woman came to me to see if I could make something to help her joint pains when the weather changes. I can only help ease it a little.." She took a few leaves from another plant that had been drying on her blanket and added it to the bowl before starting to mash it up. "So I'm going to make her a powder to mix with her drink. It'll take a bit to dry." San'thari looked up at the sky and nodded. "It's a good day, so it'll be dry right before sundown, I think.." If not, she'd finish drying it in her room and give it to the woman tomorrow morning.

"I'm San'thari. You're just starting out?"

Cocking her head, she looked around at the various herbs displayed. After a moment, Constynce reached into her pack and pulled out a small bag. "Here. If you like, you should add some of this. I find it's a soothing pain reliever to have."

San'thari. "Your name is very pretty." She helped herself to sit on the ground, nodding lightly. "I would not say I'm 'just' starting out. I have always been learning and experimenting with plants. I will admit, though, that any formal training has been limited.".

San'thari took the bag and opened it to look at the contents. She looked at her mixture and then sprinkled some of the contents into her paste mixture and continued to mix it up. "Thank you, I'll try it and see."

When she said she wasn't starting out, San'thari nodded. She could understand. Honestly she had always been doing the same, herself. They were similar like that. "I've had no formal training. I've asked healers, but never trained." She shrugged. "I don't have the knowledge or skill to be a full healer, so I've settled for helping them with ointments and things." She gave a patient smile and a shrug. "Ah well. Making the best out of it."

Unable to suppress her delight when her offer was accepted, Constynce grinned brightly. She hoped it would help the woman needing the relief! "I love being able to visit the healers. I do not have the skill for being a healer myself, either. They are quite open to me coming around to try out improved salves and such." Her eyes slid away a slight bit. "It's okay with me, though. I fear that the sights that sometimes arrive to the healers are not ones I am able to handle well."

San'thari thought back to something that had recently happened and sighed a little. "I'm not very good with burns, myself, but cuts and what comes with it..." She shrugged. She was a woman. She was used to dealing with blood, especially from cooking when she did.

"Everyone's different. I can do enough for a quick patch job, but my advice is, and always will be, go to a proper healer once I'm done." She held up her hands as she shrugged. "It's up to them if they listen or not. I don't think I ever met anyone who didn't, though... I can't check for internal bleeding, or mend bones, or anything of the like." Of course, San'thari realized she didn't have to say most of this, the other woman understood. It seemed they were cut from very similar clothes.

It was a comfort to hear that she was not the only one a little squeamish about certain things. When San'thair spoke, Constynce cocked her head and listened attentively, a small smile growing. "I sometimes wish I could have been a healer, but I love my plants too much." Her smile warmed, looking at the other woman curiously. "It's always fun to see another who shares a passion, and see what is similar and what is different. Do you have everything you make use of here?"

"Most of it," she said after a moment. "I've got more herbs drying in my room, some plants steeping in water to draw out their goodness that I mix into a kind of tea.." She shrugged a little more and continued to work on this paste, making it extra smooth.

When that was done, she gathered it all up with a spoon and put it on a piece of paper in a cloth and then set it all to the side. "This is going to dry into a solid, then I'll crush it up into a powder. It'll be used for various things, but mainly to be sold as a powder to mix with water for really mild pains. You drink it. It's not the best tasting thing, but it does the trick if you have a headache or general pains from walking around too much. Nothing too impressive."

That was good to hear! Being able to make sure a few things were going at once was an important skill, in her mind. She looked intently at the creation being made and set aside, smiling sweetly. "For some, even the relief of a minor pain can have a big impact on a life~" she encouraged.

San nodded. She'd met many who were grateful for the relief. Too bad for those with chronic headaches she could not actually cure it. Rubbing her hands together after a minute, she leaned back. "So that's it for this. We just let it dry and then I'll break it up..."

She looked to the other herbalist and smiled. It was nice finding someone who knew what they were doing. "So we both missed the mark on being a healer, eh?"

Constynce watched the little pile with a small smile, always happy to see the use of herbs in action. Looking up when addressed, she smiled bashfully. "So it would seem. I can't help admiring the work the healers can do." She might even dare to say it was fringing on jealousy, but no need to point that out~ "Plants have their own kind of magic, I believe. When used properly, they have some amazing abilities."
