Roll - 85 Location - Tale Beast - Perzi Word count - 501
Shea was busy sleeping on his bedroll with his head propped up on his bag when he heard the tell tale noise of a twig snapping and dried grass being rustled about not too far from him. Someone or something was out there and close by. Too close for his comfort. Dragging his eyes open he blinked a couple of times to adjust to the darkness, though he was aided by the many stars in the night sky. When he heard the sign again he sat up as quickly as he dared and turned his head this way and that. No person was visible in the dark, or at least no silhouette of a person was. So unless they were army crawling across the ground he wasn't in danger of being robbed or killed by anyone.
That meant that it was more than likely a beast. Instantly he feared the worst so his hand went toward his sword. Granted he wasn't very good with it just yet but it was better than a stick!! Shea squinted as he tried to find the culprit that had woken him from a deep sleep. He was looking for any sign of movement. The grass swaying, a shoulder or back of the beast.. anything.
When nothing immediately jumped out at him so he slowly got to his feet. Shea wanted to be able to face whatever it was head on rather than on the ground already like prey. "Alright.. where would I be if I was a beast that was stalking prey." He asked himself out loud. Slowly turning in a circle he waited until he didn't have to wait anymore.
Out of the tall dead grass stepped a.. cat? Shea blinked slowly and tilted his head to the side. It was a hairless cat with crystals. He'd heard of them! They hailed from Oba. What were they called again?
As he thought about it the thing lunged at him and he went slightly wide eyed before dodged to the side. Did it not understand that he was bigger than it? He would lift his boot and step on it! When the Perzi, that was their name!, turned to come at him again he noticed the rather spooky looking design on it. "Oh, okay! I get it now.. the spirits are angry with me right?" Shea asked the beast as he backed away while holding his sword out in front of him. "Well now you just apologize to them for me. I didn't mean anything by being snarky to that one guy." He nodded his head then ran full speed at the hairless thing to scare it off.
Thankfully his tactic worked. The beast hadn't expected him to come rushing full on and to it hissed and spit at him before tucking tail and heading in the opposite direction. That left Shea to stand there staring in bewilderment. What was an Oban beast doing in Tale? Didn't the cooler temperatures bother it since it was hairless?
