Rumors are spreading of a traveler who has entered the area. Apparently, this traveler has a strange item they claim comes from a different time. It's hard to believe what people are saying, and the only way to really know what is going on is if you see it with your own eyes. So, you make it a point to travel to where the traveler was last sighted, and as you approach you notice a crowd. The traveler is holding up an object, high above their head, and shouting across the crowd. Some approach to get a closer look, some appear fearful, but everyone can agree...this is something no one has ever seen before.
What exactly is the traveler showing off? Roll 1d6 to determine what strange item has been found using the guide below:

Kieran browsed through the markets in Oba. So far the Yaeli had managed to keep mostly to himself while wandering the busy streets and was rather thankful that there was some other buzz going about the market place to allow him to move about even more freely. Normally he was paranoid with his cloak held tightly against his body so that no one could see his features – after all the quiet Yaeli preferred to not be screamed at or chased away by those who still believed that Yael was a place only for monsters and spirits. Smiling faintly at the thought the boy tossed coin at a merchant who in turn passed some more food along to him. It wasn’t his homeland’s food, but it was still good…
He had truly gotten used to being here then. Shaking his head at himself, Kieran stumbled into a pair of young apprentices who were rushing through the streets. Eh? Blinking with surprise, the Yaeli pulled his hood down while catching snippets of the boys’ conversation.
“Did you hear? Apparently it’s so strange that Liana fainted!” One of the boys laughed as he nudged his friend, “We’ve got to find this traveler and see what he has!”
“But what if it is something super special? Can we even use it? Should we?” Questioned the other with a worried frown.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine, come on!” Grabbing his friend’s hand, the boy urged him forward and further down the street – leaving a rather baffled Kieran standing behind in the dust. What was so spectacular that those boys would almost run him over without a problem? Most would at least do a double take if they saw even a hint of his features beneath the cloak. Knowing that, Kieran definitely had his curiosity peeked. What exactly could it be that was stirring up so many people?
Tucking his purchases into the heavy satchel that laid across his back, the man began to move forward. It was then that he spotted the surging crowd around some strange looking man -perhaps a hybrid or a race he had yet to see?- flaunting something that shone brightly in the sunlight. What was that? Kieran found himself frowning as he moved forward.
“Come ‘ere! Look at all these strange artifacts I’ve found!” The man grinned as he continued to pull up items. Others in the crowd were whispering while some even had made spiritual symbols in the air for protection. Younglings were being held by parents who wanted to allow them to see better while others were being ushered out of the crowd, “Come little one. This isn’t something to interest you.”
“But mom?”
“Ssh, it’s nothing big.”
A pout as they walked past and Kieran found himself able to move even closer through the crowd. As someone who traveled and went through underground passages in search of artifacts this definitely held his attention. The piece that the traveler now held out was a particular piece of metal with curved edges. Kieran found himself rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Could it have been scraps for a weapon perhaps? An axe or a broadsword may be able to hit well with that… He shook his head – he would have to be able to actually feel the metal to make such an assumption. Plus, what was that? Frowning, Kieran leaned forward. Was that….that writing on the metal? No runes are that giant either. He pondered even more as the crowd surged about him.
“Where could he have found such strange pieces?”
“I don’t know, but I wonder if there are more?”
Excited apprentices nearby spoke of action and adventure – what if they could use such a thing and gain fame or fortune? “We should go treasure hunting like that!” Kieran could only chuckle and shake his head. Though admittedly he was a bit jealous. How was it that this stranger had managed to find such a peculiar piece? All of his time underground and he found interesting pieces of his own – mostly gemstones and some strange rocks – but nothing like this.
Kieran had to wonder if he could even dare press closer to the traveler. But the crowd was still excited and it was hard for him to truly study the item. What he did get to see he would draw later with a puzzled expression while trying to place it. Weapon, building material, or something completely different…what could that strange thing be? He was still leaning towards weapon, but at the same time he didn’t understand how it could have been used. A shield perhaps? Or maybe it was scrap metal…sighing, Kieran simply closed his journals later than evening with a frown.
I suppose the world may never know…
