Aphelion was nearing freshling graduation, which meant it was time to start thinking about what he wanted to do with himself. He'd never really given it much thought- his father was still in school pursuing his own ideal career... an astrologist with an actual background in astronomy. He could appreciate that- he did like the science side of what his father did... but he also liked the magical aspect of it. Divination was not really something he was sure he could grasp clearly, though. It was a very murky field and while his father seemed to have a decent time of making sense of it... Aphelion felt entirely lost when Starlet did readings out loud in the evenings.

Still, magic was very much an interest of his. Starlet was happy to provide him with any books he might want- and oh, did he want many. From magic basics to advanced spellwork, Aphelion read them all. The thing that seemed to speak to him the most was rune crafting. It was subtle work, but highly effective. It seemed to fit his personality- quiet, in the background, but always there when he was needed. At least, that was what he hoped he was. He tried to be there as much as possible for his younger twin siblings and for his best friend, Alice.

Speaking of Alice... he should ask her what he thought of his idea for what he wanted to focus on- and if she knew what she wanted to do. Maybe she would be a nurse like her mom? Or a tattooist like her father? Honestly he didn't know- he knew she'd be spectacular at whatever she wanted to do, though.

Before speaking to Alice, though, he'd need to speak to his father. The discussion was long and in depth, but they were always like that when the two of them finally sat down to have some quality time. Starlet of course fully encouraged him to follow his interest- that was what he had done after all. He even offered to help him test it out when Aphelion was old enough to really start making runes himself, which made him quite happy. He was very lucky to have such a supportive parent- he'd met far too many children at school that didn't have that at all... and most of them were Hallowed like himself.

People could say all they wanted about the irresponsibility his father had displayed by purposely awakening him in October, but Aphelion was grateful for it. Sure, things had been a little hard from time to time because there were narrow minded people out there, and not everyone seemed to be able to handle his four eyes... but overall, it had given him a unique perspective on dealing with others that he was sure non-Hallowed people didn't have.

So for that, Aphelion was grateful. No matter how reckless it was for his father to have done what he did, he would always stand by his side. He was a far more responsible and loving parent than many he'd heard of without Hallowed children, after all.

His first rune would definitely be for his father, he was sure of that. And then the second one would go to Alice.
