From his manor he stands out onto the balcony of his bedroom and with deep breath in takes in the gift of life. So many things have changed since he was but a small prince and growing to protect his two sisters Hysteria & Theadora and so much is still ahead of him. There was guilt for having done wrong at times and failing others he's cared about but there was hope for tomorrow burning brightly in his eyes as he captures the horizon in his eyes. Word from King Aldon had reached Roland about their long discussions for his union with Princess Athena and with a joyous heart he has read from one the letters that Aldon is going to allow them to be together in holy matrimony. His and Athena's wedding was to happen after Aldon's marriage to Princess Elentiya but for this prince it couldn't happen any faster. He wanted desperately to be with Athena but he also wanted her to be able to live here with him. Roland had asked if Aldon would allow that to be but his told Roland no. Athena is a princess that needs to be defended and with no real army of his own Aldon felt it unwise for his sister to live in a foreign country with Roland. There was also the letter Roland had received from Count Dixon which weighed on his mind. Roland had sent a letter back saying how he would also like to meet and talk of things once more with a fresh start. There were some obvious signs that there was a miscommunication between them the first time they had met but seeing Dixon extending the olive branch first how could the prince refuse. It was good of that man to say something first and out of respect Roland had to seek peace with the count as well. There was a few things he wanted to talk to him about actually so this was all perfect timing. With his crimson eyes still on the land he sees his serfs working on the farmlands and the world working as it should. Yet, there was something off which kept bothering him. He originally helped in the civil war to aid the change of the world and to allow way for the republic to brake away completely from the empire, but this wasn't enough for Roland anymore. There was a change in the winds and the land kept calling out for something. As if the gods and goddesses were restless, Roland could hear the voices of the ancient ones still wanting their world changed. The divines still wanted justice upon the lands of all; and so with his mind set on making a difference for the entire world Roland smiles to see some of the serfs training with just as he hath commanded of the men so that he can begin building the army he needs for his wife and for the world.

✺Forgotten Son Outfit (minus the tacky cross) EC: 100 It was still harvest season, wasn't it? He could tell: there might not have been any word coming from the other countries at this time, thanks to whatever had been going on, but that didn't mean there wasn't a certain pressure at harvest from the land of a thousand rivers. Dixon knew just what it meant to lose out to them, feeling it most because he was on the boarder, but this year things were different. He and his land, Youkimi's too, were able to eat without relying on Bellris, and that made all the difference.
He wondered how they might be received, coming to them as equals now. He knew one thing: whoever was in charge of the land would have to pay them respect regardless. He knew another thing: that man was called Roland Bellris; he was a prince.
He came to land first. Making as little impact as possible. Those in the fields might sense it any way they could, but Dixon would keep his cool and stand, just as promised, as a guest in this gentleman's land. He waited, sure that it wouldn't be long.
"Is there anything you want to ask him, Lady Kai?"

Baroness Youkimi Kai Youkimi's icy blue feathers followed Dixon's brighter ones as they flew the distance to Bellris lands again. The air had been pleasant, making the journey smoother and easier. The fields were busy, and there was no sign of joy, but the common tone of work, of tasks to be seen to, of things that were commonplace. Indeed, this was a different world. A different nation. Different leadership.
On landing, she stood once more on her feet. She was dressed for a normal day, but she lacked the decorative colors that might have alerted others of her rank. At present, she accompanied Dixon. She did not come in her own fanfare, proven difinitively by her lack of guard this time.
She didn't have any questions. So, she shook her head. "No, not yet. That might change as we converse."

Company:: No one Outfit:: prince outfit (in picture) Feeling:: Condition:: Healthy Location:: Currency:: 1972¢ EC Items:: DyrnwynOOC:: ^u^ Prince Roland Leoharz Bellris It was early that word had reached Roland's ear of unknown bodies coming in by the skies and after the description of the feather fliers the prince gives command that three horses be made ready for riding. Through his lands he is glad to see the gears of home turning as well oiled as ever: Half the men training in defense with pitchforks and bows while the others make new plots for food and animals. The children were even productive when asked to work by their folks but with the morning being bright so too were the children's minds as they all were presently at school; Made from the castle Roland once called home. On the horizon Dixon and Youkimi would see Santiago along with two others, a horse of white and a horse of black, with leather saddle for the comfort of the prince's two guest. "You've arrived at an opportune time my friend!" Roland saluts as he rides down with his trusted steed and with Santiago leading the pack the horses slowed as the distance closed between the prince and the visitors from far. "I didn't expect you to come here with Dixon, Lady Youkimi, but you've arrived at a good time as well." With a smile and gesturing hand he would ask his guest to take a horse for the road ahead. "Come with me into my mansion and we can talk a little more in there. There's something big I'm preparing for and would like to speak behind closed doors."

Well, this it nice. ... I wonder what it must cost to keep such a lovely beast. Such a comfort--no... It's a mastery of nature, it is! Rich, rich, rich.
"My lord," regarded the count with a soft bow, only from the chest up. He took the time to straighten himself out again, smiling and regarding the others with Roland with much the same dignity. He couldn't help it; his eyes lit up at the tone with which Roland spoke.
"Opportune, you say?" It seemed as though all the sun rested under the man's chin. "I couldn't agree more, my good man. Lead the way!" He wasn't sure if the horses would take to him, but damnit if he wasn't busting to find out. He tried his best to look natural, hopping on eagerly and holding on with perhaps too tight a grip.

Baroness Youkimi Kai In time enough, they were met along the road by three horses, two of them being led by the one in front, an impressive beast carrying a prince as his rider. In view, she confirmed that it was Roland. It was good to see a friendly and familiar face. It was also pleasant and a continuation of a good day to see the interaction between Dixon and Roland as pleasant and amiable. She had worried a little concerning this because of the friction that she observed in past meetings. Now that the worry had been alleviated, she felt they could more openly handle what they were here to discuss.
At the warm greeting, Youkimi bowed respectfully. "I apologize for not giving advance warning. I was only recently asked if I would accompany this meeting. I hope it is not too forward of me to do so."
Fortunately, there was welcome in Roland's tone. Dixon, clearly, was eager to ride. It had been a while since she had seen him this excited, and there was something rather entertaining about observing it.
She made her way to the remaining horse, careful of her approach so that the creature could take the time to see her and hopefully avoid spooking it. However, she found that the creature was very well trained. It followed the lead horse without a guide and stopped when the first beast stopped. She took the reigns in her grip, and after a moment of setting her foot in the stirrup, she managed to haul herself into the saddle.
In another time and place, she might have chastised one of them for not stepping over to assist her as proper gentlemen might have, but this was today. She was in a good mood. Besides, lately she hadn't quite been feeling like a proper baroness. Perhaps it was the interaction with her people. Perhaps it was how she had been living like a merchant and a stranger in foreign lands for the last many months. Whatever it was, it made this moment no injury to her pride.
She settled into the saddle and sat astride it, her legs gracefully set side-saddle, as she had long ago been taught to ride. She was in a dress, despite the more subtle colors and durable layers she wore, so it was not practical to sit as the men did.
"How fares your country, Sir Roland?"

Company:: No one Outfit:: prince outfit (in picture) Feeling:: Condition:: Healthy Location:: Currency:: 5000¢ EC Items:: DyrnwynOOC:: Prince Roland Leoharz Bellris While his guest ready for the ride there was something the prince could feel. It was a tugging inkling, or more like a nudge, but what for he couldn't quite figure out was why. Was there a command he had forgotten? Was there a cue he had missed? Without knowing what it was he missed in the first place it was hard to say he had forgotten anything at all, but this feeling was bugging him like knowing someone's name on the tip of your tongue but the words just wont come out. "No need to apologize, lady Youkimi. Your's is a welcomed sight like a neighbor to a lad." But careful indeed. While Roland was obviously fine with the lady being asked to have come as company he was a little cautious about her being here. Not the Roland felt she posed a threat to his life but he had his own reasons as to why. The lady took her careful time getting upon her horse, the prince suddenly knowing what it was he forgot, a slightly embarrassed blush upon his cheeks now, and with his eyes turning away he would then see Dixon taking his first steps with his chosen horse; A veteran horse that was easy going but tugged at time to like Dixon know he wasn't holding the reigns to his liking at times. "The country is going somewhat smoothly actually." So Roland says as he begins his calm ride as well; Cooled cheeks allowing him to meet the woman's gaze once again. "We've been having a fantastic harvest and some more development in the Thousand River Delta is should be underway soon. As you can see the people around here have been prospering and growing, that is except for the refuges that remain." He says with slight discouragement. "The republic hasn't been the kindest to them but I believe that is because there isn't any good relations between the people of the republic, the refugees and the government itself. And I feel largely at fault for that. I wanted you, lady Youkimi, to be on the council of Bellris to prevent exactly what is happening now, but because I didn't go through the proper channels your people suffer injustices almost on a daily. It pains me to know my people are capable of such ignorance but what pains me more is that I failed the minority of my republic and I have failed you as well...This is why I am saying, I am sorry I failed." The prince was use to being a prince for his whole life up until the queendom became a republic and though he hardly ever used his power for his benefit he was use to having things go his way when spoken on a whim. He tried to assist his republic as a prince but that wasn't how his home functioned anymore and so the young man felt shame for letting down people while also looking rather ignorant in too many ways. Thankfully the mansion was not too far away now.

Baroness Youkimi Kai There was that unfortunate reality. While in Bellris, it had been the height of her effort to get her people settled where she could, to pave opportunities for them, and to have the families settled into the most stable situations she could find. Unfortunately, as was highlighted most pointedly in her interrupted and unwelcome conference with the High Chairwoman of Bellris, they were not welcome regardless of the circumstances or the intent of the people.
Youkimi had given up on waiting for an apology in that very same meeting, assuming that once the councilwoman had decided, that the baroness' efforts would be henceforth ignored, she was honestly surprised and humbled to hear the prince apologize to her after he politely answered her inquiry.
She bowed her head slightly. It was harder to show proper appreciation when on horseback, but his words were well received, and his intentions were well meant. He was a friend where there were few, she felt.
"Thank you, Prince Roland. Please do not take all the burden onto yourself, for there were many decisions involved, and no one person can be responsible for the choices others make." She turned her eyes forward, letting the horse carry her. It knew the way and needed very little guidance from her. "Besides, as word spreads, more and more of the refugees return to their homeland. In time enough, I feel they will no longer be the burden to Bellris that they are sometimes perceived to be." (OoC: Pardon, gentlemen, I'm breaking out of order just a little bit to answer the question.)

✺Forgotten Son Outfit (minus the tacky cross) EC: 100 Watching Dixon wrestle with the magnificent beast was something glorious and tragic and hilarious all at once, like some kind of Greek play. Maybe it was the way his accent seemed to be strong enough to cut right through the bolded space--the space in the country was always bold and thick and seemed to multiply with the growth of shadows--but not enough to resist the shock of his appointed steed's adjusting, and perhaps protesting, buck. It was this way for a good half the journey; so the count had nothing at all to add to the other's conversation--he could barely hear it! All the while he was silently praying for the end of the trek; and a soft sigh curled his lips upon dismounting his noble equine.
"Oy..." Poor guy looked dizzy--pale even! ... No. Not quite. He did work up a light sweat though, which he dabbed from his forehead like a charcoal artist finishing the month's rent--work.

Company:: Count Dixon & Lady Youkimi Outfit:: prince outfit (in picture) Feeling:: Friendly Condition:: Healthy Location:: Outside --> Parlor Room Currency:: 5000¢ EC Items:: DyrnwynOOC:: Prince Roland Leoharz Bellris A prince, she still addresses him. He feels unfit to wear such a title but the words from the lady did not fail to lift the spirits of the foolish young man she would call a prince. "I guess there is your silver lining in this; Your people come back home and my people can stay put...I thank you for your words baroness. I won't be forgetting your kindness anytime soon." The rider says as he has Santiago slow to the pace of Youkimi's horse, a calm brush of the horse's neck being the unspoken signal the prince has with his faithful companion. "You have a lovely humanitarian nature, Lady Youkimi." It's a pity I couldn't have you in court with me." He speaks with a gracious coo and though he holds a brightened smile it is slightly dimmed by the dark rings along his eyes; The current state of his country and the unsure future weighing on Roland's ever revolving mind. A manservant awaited his master and his guest at the front of Roland's large estate and with open arms he would welcome them along, asking for their coats if they pleased to walk around and feel more at home rather than sweat things out in uncomfortable extras. Having seen Count Dixon have a little bit of a struggle getting off of his horse Roland would smoothly swing off of Santiago, a natural transition for the trained horseman, and there walk to the lady's side, offering a hand to assist her in dismounting her horse if she so chooses to accept his help. He failed in upholding his chivalrous ways last time and would not make the same blunder this time. After everyone had entered Roland's home they were shown to the parlor room where tea and fine wine along with empty handcrafted glasses were ready for their enjoyment as set by the live in maids. With only himself and his guest in the room, a maid or two waiting on them outside the door, Roland would open conversation with slight teasing; But we all know the guest were not here just for a drink. "How are things going within your own home lands?" A question aimed to both parties as the prince took his seat and pour himself a cup of tea with eyes looking at them to ask if they wanted some but also to await an answer. "Hopefully running business is a lot easier than dealing with horses for you, Count Dixon."

Baroness Youkimi Kai Humanitarian, he called it? Perhaps she was surprised to hear this kind of compliment. All she had done for her people seemed to be out of a sense of duty and a selfish kind of pride she had for those who came to her for help. Had she been wrong in this assessment?
Youkimi inclined her head, and found that her eyes turned elsewhere, focusing on the road ahead. While it was possible that she was bashful, it was also true that she wanted a moment to gather her thoughts. How to respond to such praise? How could she respond to such a statement?
Focus on the details, she decided. "It cannot be helped, I'm afraid. Especially not when there might be one or two on the council who might dislike the thought of my presence in the court. Nevertheless, I'm honored to have earned favor with a few."
This was concluded with a smile and she was brave enough to look back, only to see a weariness that was familiar indeed. It mirrored her own and how haggard she felt when she worried for the plight of her people and there seemed to be no definitive goal in sight. Now, when she could at last sleep, it seemed that someone else could not. Unfortunately on horseback, Dixon looked about as terrible.
Fortunately, it was a short ride, and they were able to free the count from the illness he had unfortunately gained on the back of the horse. It was fascinating to see the contrast in his almost reckless flight and the feeble weakness he seemed to so suddenly gain on the back of a horse. Motion sickness? Hopefully he would return to himself when his feet were on the ground.
When they stopped, Youkimi began to dismount. Now, anyone who's ridden side-saddle knows that getting out of the saddle is not always as graceful as one would sometimes wish it to be. And besides this, it had been a long flight from Ethe. She accepted the offered assistance and dismounted safely. (Which also meant with a reasonable amount of grace.) With a word of gratitude to Roland for his assistance, she went to check on Dixon's condition.
Then they moved into the notable estate and the horses were led away to the stables. Once within, they were shown to a room and drinks were brought forth. Youkimi took a cup of tea for herself and added a bit of cream and sugar on this day. She mixed while she thought of how to answer for Kaishin.
"Things are well at home. There is much to do, but my people are happier than I have seen them for a long time. The motivation itself is a remedy for much of what ailed us."

"No... Please..." Dixon could only hold up a hand for a moment as Youkimi approached. He waved off any worry she had and, with a stiff inhale, gathered himself much like the rooster readying for a fight, hard-faced, and followed the others in.
"Oh, you have no idea, mate," said the count, exasperated still.
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════The conversation seemed civil enough. Dixon sat there, a calm smile on, wishing he might have had the chance to introduce himself in such a pleasant environment. He laughed internally, knowing it was for the best not to expect such things; he flicked his toes as he recalled such a time, a series of moments, in which the count knew for certain his struggles made him strong; he knew the only reason he could make it through the present toil was because he'd already been harden by a past one.
He loved the mood of the conversation, also, because it was so conducive to business-like talk. He found himself leaning every-so-slightly forward as they went on. He, of course, also shared what had been happening with his lands. This was crucial.
"So," he concluded as the sun finally said 'adieu,' "we've been doing quite well for ourselves. I don't see any slowing in the trend." He stilled his hand on the table.
"One regret I have, however, is that our deal was unable to go through." He gave a small shrug, as if to absolve Roland and his family, or any on party for that matter, from guilt. "I would have like to have seen both our lands grow together: I am not blind enough not to see a new tide coming in."

The kindly face of the elder woman seemed a smile as she wandered through the estate. Others were left to cleaning things up, and she was just about ready to move herself out, out to aid the health of a pregnant woman at the request of her lord. But, at the moment, all she was doing was looking around and counting her blessings in her old age. Hopefully she wouldn't be around when the fighting hit. She was old, but certainly not stupid. She also was fortunate enough to know what she was doing, to see things coming before the young people even thought of them, and then to be around to handle advice when all hell broke loose. Oh the things she had seen. What she had survived. Sure, yeah, it was impressive, but all of that came second to whether or not she had pudding for dinner. Oh the stories she could tell. She paddled through the estate and stopped in the kitchen. She set herself in a chair and picked up a few slices of bread that she began to spread jam upon. Satisfied with this tastyness, she ate, and waited for the next emergency or catastrophe to reach her ears.
