“Knock Knock!” Called Zac, rapping his knuckles on the doorframe, though as it was familiar, he let himself in so things wouldn’t be odd. He’d just stopped by to see if his Father was free for lunch. With all the hours Jer had been putting in lately, he assumed to catch up, it seemed like they had very little time for it after all. “It’s just me!” He called to fill the moments of dead air. “I wanted to see if you wanted to go for a cup of tea and maybe some fresh pizza or some such. The wood fire oven place does pretty well I think?”

Despite the fact that it was a day off, Jeremiah had actually gone in to work and then proceeded to bring work home. Which he was working on currently in the downstairs office that was his. His head raised up when he heard Zac. "In my office!" he called back, filling in some paperwork with ease. His handwriting was neat and orderly without the need to take time to make it so. "Let me finish this up and, yes, that place does sound good. We've not been there in- well, not since before last Christmas."

“Working?” Zac asked with a small frown. “Isn’t it your day off?” He shook his head brushing it aside. Maybe the work loads after all the seizures was just that bad. “Please don’t burn yourself out. I still worry after those… seizures and everything else.” He said with a furrowed brow of anxiety. Still, he wrapped his arms around himself, his normal pose of general unease. Nothing that anyone was doing, but more of a baseline mood for the day, he was worried for Jerimiah after all.

Jeremiah looked up at Zac from his desk and saw the posture. Read it as clearly, in fact, and he gave him a reassuring smile. "It is but this isn't something that I can't handle." His lips twitched into a wry smile. "Not after everything else I've dealt with. This is surprisingly easy and relaxing, oddly enough."

“Paperwork and relaxing are… not words I ever thought would come out of your mouth.” He admitted with a small laugh. “Should I have a seat till you get to a stopping spot?” He asked and glanced for a chair he preferred before settling into it, folding one leg under himself and leaning over it.

"I wouldn't have thought either but after everything else ..." Jeremiah shook his head and bright blue-green eyes looked up. The older man certainly looked healthier than he had in the past and seemed to be doing far, far better. "You don't mind? I only need a few more minutes and we can head out."

"No! I mean, better this than... seizures or Tithes, or blood moons and fetches." Zac said and shuddered slightly. He did find it a bit odd but, well... seizures. And 'Ezra' mucking around in his head and lord knew what else.

Jeremiah nodded in agreement. "It certainly is and much preferred at this point." Still he turned his attention back to the paperwork and then started typing away at the laptop on his desk a moment later. It would only take a few minutes before he was saving and then shutting down the laptop. "So you were saying pizza?" He stood and stretched, shoulders rolling in that familiar way they did to try and ease the discomfort that never went away.

“Yeah… I thought you could use a break so your eyes didn’t turn into eight by eleven sheets of paper and single spaced print with ‘please fill in pertinent information’ for your irises.” He chuckled “They can split the pizza into two halves if we can’t agree on the toppings. I was just going to get cheese. They do this… whole wheat crust now and the bit I got to try was pretty awesome.”

Jeremiah huffed, stepping close and putting a hand on Zac's head and ruffling his hair. "You've got no room to talk, stars in his eyes." He let out a hum of approval. "That sounds like a plan then, though splitting the halves sounds like a good idea. I need a bit more than just cheese on my pizza. Let me get my keys and I'll drive us there."

“Stars in my eyes had NOTHING to do with filling out paper for excessive hours. And to be fair I have no idea what did cause it, so there.” He said with a decisive nod before adding. “Are you sure you’re ok with this? I mean… “He waved a hand vaguely. “But um, yeah, what did you plan to top it with?”

"Probably the same thing that has me smelling amazing all the time," Jeremiah snorted because it was true. Not that he could notice it but there had been enough reactions that he was aware of it now. An eyebrow was raised. "It's supposed to be the best it town, isn't it? That means I've got to try it at least once." His shoulders lifted once, a faint shrug. "I'll have to see what they've got in the way of toppings. Mostly vegetables ..." Still not quite alright with eating a lot of meat.

“I was kind of wondering if you had a new after shave. But you’re right.” He mused. He did give a brief glance at Jer and trying it once. Maybe it…wasn’t so odd he was so amenable to going out. “Yeah…. especially, anything rare.” Zac said quietly and winced at the thought. He worried at his lip for other reasons entirely though.

Jeremiah actually made a face at the mention of rare. "Algie's been cooking some nights and we've been having more vegetable dishes." There was a sigh. "Working back up to meat being a main dish." He leaned to grab a coat out of habit more than actually needing it. The silver-haired man paused and looked over Zac. "Everything alright there?"

“Oh…yeah. I was just thinking about things. I mean, this crazy weather since the ball and …” He shook his head distracted. “And… this runic stuff, I saw some, names of runes when we were looking at the paintings, but I saw a book of runes when I went to um… I was looking up some things about Heliodora. And it was this, this absolutely normal book in the middle of Other Ashdown. So strange.” He shook his head again. “And… I don’t know. I know they meant to strengthen the cage again after they stabbed, well her. I just mean… it, feels like…” He sighed. “I am not sure if we messed up or did well. I just, I r ally want to see if we can’t actually get someone home, one way or another.”
