There was something oddly relaxing to being on ones own. Ai was not one to hunt, but she did enjoy exploring Yael. Sometimes she would volunteer to head out with the huntresses just to see it's sights, but today the young warrior wanted some silence.

Things had been odd back in Zinris as of late, and she needed to work out some steam.

So, in truth, while she wasn't a huntress, Ai was on the hunt. Just, instead of prey she could eat she was looking for prey to disembowel. Prey she could take trophies from, and present them as gifts to the truly macabre of her group.

Ai was looking for Yaeli.

She walked closer to the shore line, careful to stay in the protection of the trees. It was good camouflage for the young alkidike, and one that would hopefully keep her hidden long enough to find her prey...

Kieran had come back home just long enough to enjoy the festivals. Now though the yaeli was walking along the shores one last time before the boats were to arrive. Soon enough we'll be back on Matori yet. He thought as he reached a hand up to rub against the smooth scales of his keldari. Aia simply hissed from her perch along his shoulders as he continued his walk.

These beaches were far from the white sands and in fact had more rocks than anything. Still, it had some charm to the Yaeli who had missed his home during his months away. Perhaps if he dared to take the venture more often it would be worth it to spend more than just an occasional festival or two back home. There was just so much of the mainland to explore and he didn't know how he would even manage to cover it in a life time honestly...

Ai had grown still while waiting for someone to come along. Her muscles were coiled, much like the keldari around her neck, lying in wait for the right opportunity. A group of yaeli had made themselves known, but it had been far too much for Ai's tastes. She knew that on her own taking on larger numbers wasn't a smart idea, especially those in a hunting party.

No no, all she had to do was wait.

And when her waiting paid off, Ai felt herself slipping closer to the beach. From her hiding place in the trees she could see a lone figure moving up the coast. She crouched, reaching for a single blade as she moved around on the soft terrain. Ai ticked off the moments in her head before he was at the right spot....and she pounced, going after the yaeli at a flat run across the sand.

His first warning was when Aia tensed up around his neck. A subtle hiss from the keldari though was enough to make Kieran reach for the whip at his side. Who else would be out here on the beaches? It wasn't that close to the docks - after all he had a tendency to wander a bit too far from groups and busy areas.

Feeling a shudder down his back, Kieran took that moment to finally turn around. What he saw was like a nightmare come to life...one of those creatures were bolting at him full force and the Yaeli honestly didn't know how to react. But he had to force himself to move - that way she was running and the glint of the knife in her hands told him that if he didn't then he may never move again.

Cursing, the Yaeli then finally forced his legs to move as he tumbled to the right at the last second away from the blade....

When Ai swung her first sword in a downward arc, she was pissed to find that it simply cut through the air. The damn male dodged it! She spun herself in the sand, crouching low for a moment to assess the situation before preparing another strike.

She heard, rather than saw, Syn hiss at the yaeli from atop her shoulder. If she commanded it he would strike, that much was certain. At the male or his own keldari, Ai didn't know. Either way she rotated her shoulders, settled her fierce gaze on him and moved in for another strike.

"You know I was just getting used to your kind." Quipped Kieran as he rolled back onto his feet, "Guess you're one of the island prisoners." He spat dirt from his mouth before gripping at his whip. Looked like this one was not a lady for pleasantries.

As Aia hissed on his shoulder in return the beast tamer flicked his wrists out in an attempt to smack the charging Alkidike's ankles to unbalance her...

"That was a mistake on your part."
She ran through the sand, gaining speed as she went, outright anger fueling her now. Prisoner? Is that what the yaeli thought of them?!

Syn seemed just as insulted as his mistress because the keldari launched itself off Ai's shoulder straight for his throat. Meanwhile Ai raised her blades to attack...before being knocked off her feet, after trying to dodge the whip and failing.

Kieran raised a brow, "Nah, at least your sane sisters are pleasant enough. No wonder they sent you here - no manners at all to just attack like this." If anything getting the extremist pissed would make her even more unsteady in a fight. At least that was his hope. Already the Yaeli was thinking of some plan, some way to just escape. He wasn't about to try and fight to the death after all. Nor did he expect to talk reason into the warrior woman. He had enough sense to realize that much.

Hissing, Aia smacked right into the other keldari and both went tumbling into the sands. Cursing, Kieran turned on his heel - for he had been about to flee - so that he could smack at the other keldari in an attempt to free his own, "Aia." His gaze slipped back to the Alkidike who had fallen - he wasn't dumb the woman could easily get back onto her feet. So Kieran did the next thing he could think of. He grabbed a handful of sand in advance before trying to get to his familiar once more.

Manners didn't matter when dealing with beasts who thought they were equal to the alkidike. He was nothing better than the keldari he kept; the earthlings bred like wild animals, they cared nothing for the true ways and then they dared question them?

She was barely aware of Syn being knocked away, tumbling down into the sand with the other keldari and raising his fangs to it instead. Ai wasn't concerned about his safety; she knew Syn to be a vicious fighter, and was certain he would know what to do.

It was only when the yaeli tried touching him that she worried. She pulled herself to her feet, grabbing one blade instead of both and rushed him.

He was surprised. She actually seemed to care about the keldari. Still her rushing towards him did not stop the Yaeli from reaching down to grab his own by the tail - something he would apologize for later - and throwing her around his shoulders. The last thing he wanted was for his own keldari to die to one that had been trained to become so vicious.

It did, however, not stop him from using the other keldari to his advantage. Smirking, Kieran watched as the woman rushed towards him and rather than backing away from the keldari the man acted as if he were going to kick it before twisting and throwing sand towards the Alkidike's face. He waited until the last possible moment while being prepared for either her keldari or the warrior to get to him before he could do such a thing.

It was a breath taking moment as he felt the blade cutting through the air close enough to nick his vest, but it gave him enough time to gather Aia safely around his shoulders and to back off a few steps.

Syn curled up, preparing to strike when the larger creature acted as if he were going to attack him. Instead, when it threw the sand at Ai, he shot out, aiming straight for Kieran's calf.

Ai screamed; whether from the surprise of the attack or the pain of having sand particles in her eyes, one couldn't tell. She swung her blade in a wide, blind arch, cutting through nothing but air as she vigorously tried to rub the sand out of her eyes. It only seemed to irritate them more, but she tried to keep them open, seeing through a fog.

"You fight as cowardly as the rest of your pathetic race!"

Wincing, Kieran pulled the keldari from his leg before pressing down. It wasn't the deepest bite he had sustained from a creature, but it wasn't the least painful either. Dammit. At least he had gotten Aia though the man had to hold onto her as she hissed at the other keldari. If he was worried about having a time limit before the man definitely had one now. He had anti-venom but it was stored at home...he just hoped that his attempts at building some immunity could help him to keep a hold of himself until then.

Still, his biggest worry was on the keldari that was tensed on his neck. "No." It was a simple soft command, but stern. The last thing he needed was for another mess of snakes on the sands. He just wished that his snapper was nearby so he could perhaps slip through the waters...actually...if he could just buy time the creature should be nearby.

Letting out a whistle, one for Nya, Kieran acted as if he were reacting to the insult, "You are so creative with your insults. I would prefer to call it adaptive fighting - can you blame me?" The Yaeli spat at the ground as he walked in circles around the Alkidike to throw her off with the moving sounds, "I'm not the one waiting in bushes for someone to jump. I'm sure you wouldn't have hesitated at a youngling either - now that is pathetic. "

There was no way for Ai to be able to know that Syn had made contact, but the keldari seemed pleased enough. Even when wrenched from the man's leg he hissed before moving back to his mistress. He slithered up her leg, coiling around the tendons in her calf before coming to rest on the skull she kept around her hip.

Her vision was clearing, albeit slowly. The more she rubbed the more her eyes burned and watered, but the moisture was helping to flush out the irritants. He thought he was being clever, trying to throw her off, and for the time being it was working, but it wouldn't for long.

"Children are better off dead than allowed to grow into a world they do not belong in."
Slowly, ever so slowly, she was able to start tracking him and it showed. At first her antennae shifted, following his steps and then slowly her eyes began to pick it up as well...
