It was a nice day, as nice a day as it could get in Zena at least. Rhag’na had almost finished his morning chores for the day, but now wielding an axe he was headed off to split some wood for the fire. Once there, a small clearing surrounded by a few cut off stumps, he put down the axe and removed his shirt so it wouldn’t get soaked by the sweat he was about to have. He didn’t feel like doing laundry for a few more days and hoped this shirt would last him that long or a little while long.
Running a hand through his hair to pull it out of his eyes, he picked up the first log to be split, placed it on the middle stump making sure it was straight and then took his stance. The axe in his hands still felt heavy even after all the work he’d done since he was small, he had muscle but the thing still felt odd in his hands. Pulling the axe back, it went up and calculating the blow swung the axe down and split the log in half like a hot knife through butter. Rhag’na picked up one half, placed it and once again split it in half before throwing the smaller halves to the side.
Then the process was repeated, he had a pile to go through nothing could distract him.

Riya had found a place that was out of the way and secluded, or at least she thought so. So when the sound of an axe hitting a log reached her ears she straightened. She shifted slowly and pulled her shirt back up. Since she had thought she was alone she had taken it off to put a snow pack against her side. Her ribs were feeling much better but there was still the nasty bruise that colored her side. Clutching the front of her shirt with one hand she grabbed the two belts that were supposed to hold it in place with the other since they were on the ground.
Since there was someone else nearby she wouldn't be able to put them on without risking her shirt falling open. Riya moved to see who it was that had found her little spot. What she saw stopped her in her tracks. A shirtless boy with an axe in hand. Her eyes were glued to his chest as his muscles worked to lift the axe then bring it down onto the wood. Sweet Chi! As she stood there watching she forgot that her own shirt needed to be held closed and her grip loosened slightly. Riya also happened to be standing just in front of the boy so he could see her if he looked up long enough.

Rhag’na had been entranced by his current work load, but in his veins the blood of a warrior ran and so he reacted as such. Even if his eyes were trained on his work, the moment the figure made themselves present he knew exactly where they were. He raised the axe, one handed, and pointed at them before narrowing his eyes. And then... And then he blinked. Once, slowly, twice again. Was he seeing properly? In one movement he planted the axe back into the stump and then picked up his shirt before rolling it into a ball and throwing it directly at the girl.
“Put on a shirt will you?” He told her gruffly before turning around and crossing his arms. He rolled his eyes as he stared at the tree directly in front of him. “What is a lady like you doing out by herself and dressed in such a manner?”
Rhag’na wasn’t totally oblivious to the mannerisms that some of the other warriors had. He knew they visited woman when they were in villages, he’d just never seen the reason why.

She watched the axe as it was pointed at her. Then it seemed that the boy was more interested in getting her to put his shirt on. Riya had to let go of the edges of her own shirt to catch the one that had been thrown at her. Thankfully the boy had also turned away. Though she didn't put his shirt on, instead she rolled her eyes and tucked half into her pocket so that it hung out slightly like a scarf around her thigh. As he asked her another question she watched his back while securing her belts around her waist and chest to keep her shirt closed. "Are you trying to say I need someone to go with me at all times?" Rude.
Riya cleared her throat to let him know he could turn back around. "As for my state of undress, I was putting a snow pack against my ribs. I didn't think anyone was around." Now it was her turn to cross her arms. Of course she made sure to avoid hitting the bruise that was on her side.

“Well,” Rhag’na began before pausing slightly. Why were woman so difficult? He sighed internally, everyone was always telling him to be sensible when it came to woman. It sounded like he had somehow already offended her, how he had no clue, he’d been worried about her safety, this should have made her happy.
Another long internal sigh.
“It’s safer to go out with someone,” he finally said. Because it was safer to go out with someone, especially if she went out alone. It was a very logical response. Upset woman made him uncomfortable and if he hadn’t been Rhag’na he would have squirmed a bit at the thought.
Instead, he listened to her answer to his shirt question. “Another good reason to be out with someone else.” He murmured quietly to himself. When he finally heard her complete her shuffling he turned back to face her. She still looked upset and he had no idea why. “Can I have my shirt back please?” He extended his hand towards her. “What are you doing out here anyways?” He asked, wondering why she was wondering to begin with and how had she stumbled on their camp.

Her eyes dropped down to the shirt that was dangling from her side then went back to him. "But you were so quick to toss it at me." Riya chuckled as she unfolded her arms and grabbed his shirt. She held it out for him to come get.
"Well I'm sorry, my brother was busy." Her shoulders came up in a shrug as she waited for him to take his shirt back. When he asked what she was doing she sighed. "I was out for a walk when my side started to bother me. I have bruised ribs." Not that it was any of his business.

“You we’re… Exposed.” The last word had been hard to say, these things made him so uncomfortable! Give him blood and guts and war and he was ready to take it all head on full force. Give him… Well, what he’d just seen and if he wasn’t a warrior he would have ran off screaming for the hills. It was just the way he was, he hadn’t met many woman in his life, he could count them all on a single hand, and well they all just seemed so… Different. Yes he thought, different was a good way to describe them.
“How come you didn’t wait for your brother?” But the more pressing question on his mind was why her brother wasn’t fulfilling his duty properly. What if she’d actually gotten hurt? What if something had attacked her. He shook his head ever so slightly so she didn’t notice. If he’d had a sister, such a thing would never have happened!
“Bruised ribs?” His brows furrowed, he had been right. She’d gotten hurt while her brother hadn’t bene present; someone really ought to have a talk with that guy! “Why don’t you take a seat and rest, never good to be up and about with bruised ribs,” honestly she shouldn’t have been out at all. “Your brother needs a talking to.” He said sternly.

Riya just looked at the guy. Was he serious? Her weight shifted and she put one hand on her hip. "Whoa, hold up.. I was hurt weeks ago. Some guy attacked me and kicked me off a cliff. My brother was in Sauti with my parents when it happened so he's not at fault." There was no way she would let this boy make it out like her brother was responsible for something that was out of his control.
"And I'm out now because sitting around is boring. I needed fresh air. My brother..ss... were busy. I'm a big girl I can take care of myself." Riya claimed rather pointedly. "Are you going to attack me? If not then I'm perfectly safe, right?" Being seen as some damsel wasn't what she wanted. At least not from this ice male.

Again her reply made him frown, he simply didn’t understand it. If she had bene his daughter, and boy he hoped he only ever fathered sons! He would never have let her out of his sight, least get her far from his side. It was an odd family dynamic for him, one he wasn’t used to. “If you say so,” he said slowly, eyes narrowing. It was never good to argue with women, you just nod your head and agree with almost everything they had to say. That’s how the other men seemed to go about it and they all were alive to tell the tale right?
“Of course you’re perfectly safe around me,” Rhag’na said a little offended, he straightened up a bit. “I’m not a thief; I am a prentice in a swordsman clan. There is no one as honorable as us.” He finally concluded with a nod of his head. He debated if he should send her off on her way and continue his work or have her sit about under his supervision. Finally he relented; it was safer if she stayed here. “You’re more than welcomed to sit then,” he got back to his work, then letting her chose what she wanted to do.

Her head nodded again and she made her way over to where the split logs were. She'd toe one out of the pile so that she could sit then watch him as he took that axe of his to the others. "What's the swordsman clan?" Riya might be a pure Ice girl but she had been born and so far raised in Sauti. So she didn't quite know everyone and thing in Zena. Yet. She had every intent to learn all she could about her snowy homeland. Mainly because she wanted to live there. Or at least spend a good amount of time in it.
She still had her promise to Li to think about. A promise that was made a bit more difficult the more time she spent in Zena. "You have a name, shirtless?" As of now Shirtless was what he would be called unless he told her otherwise.

Rhagna brought down the axe over and over again while keeping an eye on the girl. He repositioned himself so that if anything happened, nothing would hit her. It was just the way he was. “What’s a swordsman clan?” he repeated, sending her a look. “It’s a group of warriors and we keep Zena safe. It is our duty.” He didn’t think it was more complicated than that, but he’d answer any questions she had if she had any. He enjoyed talking about the group of warriors he called family. It was a comfortable subject he didn’t mind sharing even with her.
“I’m Rhag’na, you?” Shirtess wasn’t a bad nickname but he was fond of his real name and he’d rather she call him that. Gods only knew what people might think if she called him shirtless around others.

Huh. Well that was certainly interesting. "I take it from the name you all use swords then?" Riya wanted to know if they were more diverse. After all, her grandpa was one of the best hunters in Zena. The furs he sold and traded were among the best quality too. The fact that he used a bow appealed to her. Though some of her uncles did used swords. And then there was her mother, who used a whip.
When she learned his name she tilted her head to the side and blinked slightly. What kind of name was that? Riya shrugged her shoulders, giving a small twitch to the pain it caused her side. "My name is Iriyana." She kept her last name to herself, just in case this boy had heard of her father from back when he was a playboy.

“Most of us yes, we also have one shield bearer but he’s the only one.” He was old and mostly just gave out advice and helped train the younger generations. Rhag’na didn’t add that though, he wasn’t about to spill the inner workings of his group after all. This girl was a stranger and she was a girl so really she had no business with a group of mercenaries. So Rhag’na just kept on cutting wood.
“Nice to meet you Iriyana.” Rhag’na said formally, pausing just long enough to give her a head nod. He had manners after all. “So what are you doing out here anyways?” He asked, glancing at her as he chopped some more wood.

Huh. So the swordsmen had a shield bearer. Interesting. Riya looked around then back at the boy as he continued to cut wood. This was boring. Then he asked her, again, what she was doing out here. With a grin she just couldn't resist. "Oh you know, walking around naked, luring guys to their fates. The usual girl stuff." The way she said it seemed so serious and since she didn't laugh, or at least not yet, it could be taken as truth.
Riya looked around once more trying to find something that she could do. With how this boy was she was sure that she wouldn't really be allowed to go off on her own. He'd probably follow.

Rhag’na would have choked and died on his drink if he’s had something in hand right that moment. Instead he faltered, slowly turned his gaze towards her with his eyes wide open. She had to be joking right? But she looked so serious… There was no way… He made a face and shook his head.
“That is no way for a lady to act!” He thundered, turning back to his work and avoiding any eye contact with her. She was just trying to get him off his game, but wasn’t that exactly what she’d just said she did to men?
“Your tricks won’t work on me.” He finally said and doubled his efforts and speed at his job. “I was not raised that way.” He half mumbled to her and himself.
“But I can walk you home once I am done with this, but there will be no luring to my fate I can tell you that!” Maybe she’d just go off on her own or something.
