[PRP] Fight it Out

For a Hunter, Huozin spent a lot of time on the Training Grounds. After all, just because he wasn't a member of the army didn't make him any less a member of the pride, and they did have a reputation to maintain. So it was reasonable that the white-maned male would spend part of his offtime honing his combat skills.

Sometimes they were even of use in hunting.

So when the Regent demanded a challenger, Huozin saw no reason not to answer. Agni-pariksha looked frustrated (a fairly normal occurance) and probably needed some help finding a calmer state. If he defeated her, it might shock her into calm. If she trounced him, it might be the outlet she needed. Regardless, Huozin saw it as his duty to hlep the Regent out.

"I will do so," he answered, coming to within a few steps of the dark lioness.

"Huozin," the male answered, moving in a corresponding circle, not at all willing to allow the Regent to face his back. She was a powerful warrior, that was what he knew of her, and fierce. She lived for battle in some ways, and so he had not voted for her when the time had come. Ah well, his only choice had not been elevated to the Regency. Showed how well his interests coincided with that of the pride as a whole.

Still, he wasn't about to argue. Times changed, and in so very many ways. The pride still needed feeding, and he'd have a job.

The lighter lion nodded politely in response to the greeting. He was somewhat surprised that the Regent had yet to attack; she seemed like a much more forceful personality outside the duel.

Still, all this circling was getting old and stale. The Hunter skipped in and swiped at the lioness before retreating back to his former distance. His paw had struck nothing but air, though he didn't know if she would think it intentional or not.

Almost as if Agni-pariksha was a Seer herself for how this fight would go, Huozin tripped and stumbled on his retreat, going down with the lioness on top of him. This was, well, unfortunately somewhat expected. He was not a Soldier and while he believed in keeping his skills honed, they were not nearly as sharp as someone who spent most of their time focused on combat.

Huozin was more focused on trying to get the Regent off of him, or himself out from underneath her. He had no breath to spare for replying to her. The lioness was much heavier than he'd realized - there was a great deal of muscle under that dark red fur.

He may have miscalculated badly in accepting this duel. Still, if beating him to a bloody pulp helped the Regent out, Huozin couldn't really argue with the results. But by the fire, he was going to be in real pain after this.

It was embarrassing that he hadn't been able to shift Agni-pariksha off of himself, but Huozin was resolved to make this fight more than the pathetic slaughter it had been. He did have his pride, after all. So when the Regent stepped back, instead of getting to his feet like a sensible lion, the Hunter rolled onto his stomach and made a grab for the lioness' legs with tooth and claw.

After being beaten on for a while, he was ready to sink his fangs into something, just to prove that he could.

Huozin smiled to himself as they lay in a typical Firekin parody of lovemaking. He tried to inflict more damage while separating himself from the Regent, but aside from connecting brilliantly and knocking her down, today was just not his day. Ah well. At least he'd shown that he wasn't a complete failure of a Firekin.

"I think this may have gone on long enough," he panted.
