The Border Town of Ukupaia ORP With Ruihi It was only a few days since Ruihi told the Menehune leaders of the great gathering, and already she heard rumors of the event from both sides of the canal. After taking some time to let it settle, she traveled back to Ukupaia to see how things were going, and to see who might be brave enough to traverse from land to land. It was a curious thing to witness, the Kaha'iko were much more open to interactions than most Menehune. That was expected.
What wasn't expected was all of the Menehune, mostly younger ones, who let their curiosity lead them across the waters and into Ukupaia.
Ukupaia was a border land much more open than most of the others. It was filled with open minded creatures, mostly those who traveled occasionally from side to side and shared wares. It was the perfect place for both races to wet their gills and take a moment to meet each other. Ruihi, used to such interactions after years of traveling, set it upon herself to be a welcomer and open up the lands to those who were willing to travel.
"Come one! Come all! Don't be shy! There's a fine inn with many rooms available for those to rest!" She said joyfully in the clear waters of the Pale'iko, smiling to her whiskered kin as they curiously waded. Some covered their eyes, not used to such light shining through the moving waters, while others seemed a bit out of strength after swimming through the moving currents. All were curious, and it seemed Kaha'iko were even taking a moment to greet and welcome the travelers.
This...this was a moment that would be remembered for many years to come.---

Kaimi - Post 1
After the salvage at the border he found himself noticing the fact that things were going on near to where he'd been gathering things. It seemed that people, a good number of them in fact, were gathering. It was something that drew his attention, held it, and drew the young Menehune forward. A little peek at the border town would be alright, right? Not as though his brother was going to be home tonight, he'd said as much this morning. As such it meant that it should be fine for him to go to visit the place. As he got closer he learned that the place was called 'Ukupaia' which was an interesting name.
Pack slung over his shoulder he moved to swim as quickly as his dolphin kick would carry him so that he could explore the town. This was rather neat, wasn't it? A town on the border between where the Mehehune and the Kaha'iko could be found, meaning that it was the perfect place for him to attempt to do trading between both people! He didn't have much with him today save for a couple of pretty rocks that he'd found so today would be more of a recon mission.
Coming to a halt he found himself taking in the mount of people around, and instantly he wondering if maybe something was going on that he didn't know about? Kaimi would admit that he was a little out of the loop, so maybe he missed something important? He supposed that he'd just have to investigate and see what he'd missed because he had been out salvaging instead of paying attention to the goings on around him.

Ano'i pua - Post 1 They were hesitant despite making it here. Ano bit down on their lip a bit and floated there for a bt, staring, looking around. They got a funny feeling in their tummy about this but right now, it made no sense. Steeling theirselves, Ano approached cautiously and let out a noise when they heard a female voice greeting them. Oh, okay. Swallowing at the whiskered others, Ano put their arms behind their back and swam a bit closer. Immediately their eyes fell upon Kaimi, who they'd actually met previously to this! Ano swam up to him and wrapped arms around the other's shoulder and spun with him, giggling a bit. "Kaimi!" They practically chirped, giggling even harder. It seemed Ano relaxed once they realized they knew someone here. At least relaxed enough to actually look at the others that gathered around. "What's happening? Why are we gathering? I ...followed someone here because they were moving with other someones.."

I'oa - Post 1
The swim from Pu'honu to Ukupaia was not a short one, but if anyone could have made it, then it was I'oa. The young Kaha'iko spent a lot of her time not just out in the water, but occasionally even on the surface. There, she pushed her body to the limits, if only to see how long she could go out of the water that their kind loved so much. Simply put, she was a girl that was made for endurance, and thus the long trip from her small town to the border town did not seem to faze her one bit. If anything, she was eager for it, having heard talk that the Kaha'iko and the Menehune were actually gathering together for once. Not only was it an uncommon occurrence, but it would probably make history, and thus I'oa begged her uncle to let her go.
It didn't take much, of course. Hapeka relented and allowed her to venture off without even second-guessing his decision. Mostly because, he knew, that even if he said no, I'oa would have swam off anyone. She went wherever the river current took her, and this time it was taking her to Ukupaia. "This is going to be great," she told herself as she swam into town, slowing down her kick to a slow, rhythmic breast stroke kick. Swimming more slowly would allow her to get a better view of things, and already throngs of her kind and Menehune alike could be seen gathering.
Would she make some new friends? Could she even run into some familiar faces, like those of her family members. Maybe she'd find Niuni around - he'd probably venture to Ukupaia, especially if he figured his older sister would be present. Only time would tell, and I'oa had all the time in the world as she arrived into the town. Cornflower eyes scanned the horizon, and fell on two kids who were talking: a Kaha'iko child, and a Menehune kid. "Anything interesting happen yet," she asked to both Kaimi and Ano, whoever wanted to answer first. "I just got in, but I heard both groups are meeting. It all seems very exciting, and I don't want to miss a single thing."

Kaimi - Post 2
Kaimi's barbels gave a little twitch, sending a little jolt through him, as he found himself he suddenly spun around in the water, hearing his name called as he turned. Blinking a couple times he found himself starring at a very familiar Kaha'iko tribe member named Ano. His features brightening instantly he said, "Ano! It's been far too long!" Alright, it hadn't really been that long but for someone Kaimi's age it felt much longer, as though time moved more slowly making things take forever to happen. Getting to see Ano again was great because to him it felt like it had been a while sice the two of them had first met up.
As his friend asked him what was happening, why they were gathering, and explained why he came Kaimi gave a humming sound, "Well... I wonder..." Was it due to what his brother had been talking about? Moke had said that the two groups were gathering due to the fact that the water seemed to be disappearing bit by bit. They were supposed to get together and discuss what to do about it. Did that mean that this was that meeting? It was a thought that actually excited Kaimi a little.
Before he was able to really say too much more another voice seemed to cut in, calling for their attention. Turning toward the voice he found himself looking at another of the Kaha'iko, this one seemingly older then Ano. Giving a humming sound Kaimi shook his head, "Nothing interesting that I have seen so far so... I don't think you've missed anything." Not that he'd seen at least. Now that he knew it was in fact the meeting his brother had spoken of though he couldn't help but to look back and forth, his eyes seeking out anything he might have missed before. The meeting was sure to be an interesting one, right? The two tribes coming together to take care of a great problem together. He hadn't thought that he'd be lucky enough to be around for that meeting but now that he was here he didn't want to miss out on any of it! This was very important after all and he wanted to see it with his own eyes instead of relying on his older brother for a run down of what was happening.
Giving a smile, "Now that I know what's going on I am rather excited too!" He said to the older Kaha'iko girl.

The Border Town of Ukupaia ORP With Ruihi
Post 2 Ruihi watched with excitement as the colored skin of the Kaha'iko and the Menehune meshed. They were coming together and greeting each other, if abit nervously, but it was still progress. Soon enough people would be making friends, visiting each other, and creating plans to continue that friendship. It was all so exciting, and she almost seemed to dance through the water as people neared.
"That's right, hello there! Hopefully the water isn't too strong...take a break if you need to!" Ruihi almost laughed in glee as she saw two young children seem to dance a bit, and greet each other with friendliness. That's right, the youth would be the ones to break the barriers.
So, she contained her excitement, and sat back to watch everyone as they gathered, a mix of silver, blue, green, and brown.---

Ano'i pua - Post 1 Ano's head snapped up at the sound of a new voice, and a fellow Kaha'iko was talking to them. Their arms stayed around the Menehune and just canted their head to the side. Nothing had happened that he took note of, other than finding his friend here. So, they shook their head and just let out a bit of a giggle. "Nothing's happened so far! I hope we haven't missed it either." And like that, Ano was messing with Kaimi's hair because it was so long and floaty and so dark compared to the blues and greens they were used to. Vaguely, Ano'i pua was wondering if it was weird, that they were basically hanging on a Menehune who they'd only met once before. Probably not, given this gathering was to try to fix things. At least, that was their assumption. Why else would the two races be called together like this? Then Ruihi talked and Ano's attention turned to look at the other, giggling a little more before looking around. "I wonder who else'll show up." But more importantly. if they could make friends with anyone else. "It's not easy to swim too, but I really hope more show up.."

Post 1 Ikaika swam over to the big crowd of people, curiously. He looked to be a little bit late, he supposed he should really have skipped breakfast earlier to make it here faster then he had. He looked around with unusual glee. It wasn't only the secret part of him that was excited about this mixing of the peoples it looked like so many other young ones were too! He was so glad, he wasn't alone, wasn't weird or outcast..at least with this group. He saw a group of three others and floated over, hoping to make some aquaintances here. "Hello there, sorry for interupting, I just was wondering," he flushed really dark, "If-if perhaps I could join the conversation here? Please?" See he hadn't left his manners at home.

I'oa - Post 2
While Ano and Kaimi mentioned not much happening so far, I'oa's eyes turned to Ikaia, who had just swam up. A smile tugged at her lips, and she could tell right away that he was nervous, though she kept those thoughts to herself. "Of course," she went on to tell them, her eyes then turning to both Ano and Kaimi again. "We have another who wants to join in the fun," the eldest of the group explained. Normally, large groups would have bothered her, but this was a special event.
Besides -- if she got overwhelmed by all the kids, then she could easily slip away and find some other company around her own age. She didn't see that happening, though. All these kids...they reminded her of her many siblings that she didn't get a chance to interact with. She'd make it up to them somehow, she thought, but in the meantime, hanging with these kids would do just fine.

Upon his initial acceptance Ikaika settled down quite a bit, his shoulders relaxing and his swimming rythym becoming more fluid and less frantic. They were not here to attack or hurt him, so he might as well unclench and enjoy the flow as it were. He breathed deeply of the water and felt all the better for it. He nodded his eternal thanks at the older female. "My name is Ikaika, a pleasure to meet all of you." He was aware too that there was one person in particular some ways off who seemed to be running this little underwater pow wow of theirs and he was very grateful to have access to this opportunity. What better way to make the friends that he had always wanted, then when a group was all together with seemingly open minds. He welcomed the chance to have one of the others as a friend whether or not they were menehune.

Kaimi - Post 3
Kaimi turned his head to glance toward the one that was calling out to them, telling them that if the water's current got too strong that they could take a break if they needed too. The Menehune boy lifted up a hand, waving it to Ruihi, "I will keep it in mind, thank you!" He called out to her, giving her a smile before turning back to the gathering group before him. It was a group that was getting bigger and more cheerful, something that brought a smile to his lips.
"If you start to get tired we can find a place out of the current to rest, Ano." Kaimi offered, not wanting for his friend to get too tired since that risked the Kaha'iko getting swept along by the current. It wasn't something that he wanted to see and as such he scooted a little closer to Ano, just in case. He gave his friend a little nod before he found himself turning toward a rather friendly voice that suddenly asking if he could join them. Giving a bright smile the dark haired Menehune gave a nod of his head, "Of course! The more the merrier!" It seemed as though they were gathering together quite the school of fish, weren't they? Something that pleased him like nothing else. It was especially fun since now another Menehune had joined them!
Looking from Ano to I'oa to the new comer he said, "I think after we are done with introductions we should go and see what we can see! This gathering has to be for something interesting and we should team up and find it!" He patted a hand against his chest before he said, "My name is Kaimi!"

As their little gathering carried on Ano found themselves looking around rather than pay close attention to what was being talked about. They were spinning, watching everyone else, seeing what they were doing. A new voice rang out however, and Ano's attention whipped back to the new one and they blinked and kind of mumbled their name. If it was picked up, they didn't know, but they honestly said it! "I'm Ano'i pua.." The Kaha'iko was starting to feel a little anxious. Slowly they moved closer to Kaimi while everyone was talking and sort of took him by the arm and hugged it to his chest. Time to say their name again? No. Maybe Kaimi would just introduce them to people. He was overwhelmed with everyone around but buzzing in an excited way. They simply didn't know what to do with themselves and so hopefully Kaimi didn't mind being used as an anchor? "I'm.. not tired. Just overly excited!"
