Chel casually stepped onto a treadmill right next to where he was lifting weights. "How come yer never in the pool? Seems like you'd like it 'cause it burns calories an' s**t."
Then she pressed a few buttons to begin running. She actually had come to the gym with a purpose other than annoying Shun after all.

A low grunt escaped Shun when he realized Chel was working out near him. He just muttered under his breath, "Why would I go into the pool?"

"Why ... not go into the pool? I guess f'yer shy 'bout yer body or somethin'. But you got a great one so." She gave a shrug. "Just seems weird I never seen you there."

The sergeant closed his eyes, letting the weights rest for a bit.
"I would accomplish nothing in the pool," he stated flatly, reaching for his water bottle to take a drink.

She raised an eyebrow but continued looking forward as she ran. "What's that supposed t'mean?"

"Look. I cannot swim. Going into a pool would be pointless. I would just be wading around aimlessly," he huffed.

Chel didn't stop the treadmill but she did press a button to slow the pace a bit.
"Whaaat?" she asked in her lazy drawl. "You need someone t'teach you?"

She stepped onto the side panel of the treadmill and held onto the side rail to face him.
"What f'we go back t'the rainy place an' it's a life or death swimmin' contest?" she questioned. Her eyes lit up as she realized a way to put it: "Think of it as more trainin' fer next time."

Shun scoffed, then let his voice drop a bit quieter before he spoke.
"If it came down to that, I can just use magic to find a solution."
Like... make it so he could breathe under water, or something.

"Magic ain't gonna pull yer drownin' a** from the bottom of a lake or somethin'," she pointed out, "an' s'better to rely on yerself than magic anyways."
She began walking on the treadmill again. "It really ain't hard an' we can do it late night when no one's around or nothin'." In case Shun was embarrassed about others seeing him or otherwise. "C'mon m'a good teacher, swear."

"I cannot swim. I will not stay at the surface for long, no matter what the ******** I do. Leave it at that," Shun hissed.

This time she hopped off for good. "I don't wanna leave it at that," she said stubbornly, shaking her head. "I don't want you dead fer somethin' I can help. Not after I was useless as ******** at the ball."
She crossed her arms but her face was legitimate concern. "Please?"

Shun placed a hand over his face, "This is not something you can help me with. I go under, and my body just stops doing what I want it to do. I cannot swim, nor can I learn. Now drop it."
And he began to walk away.

She followed. "I won't let you go under Shun, promise." She bit her lip. "M'not sure it's can't learn- think yer kinda bein' more won't learn."
There was a big difference after all.
