It was a bright day, somewhere around mid-afternoon when the sun was in its descent but still high in the sky. There was still plenty of time to enjoy the warmth and light before dusk set upon the world. But for Stellina, it might as well have been the dead of night. The shadows of the woods around her were dark, darker than anywhere else in the wood. As if the sun had gone down long ago. Streaks of light still filtered through the canopy though, and the contrast between them and the pitch black shadows was blinding. It only added to Stellina's state of panic and confusion. She was completely lost and absolutely terrified.
What had sent her into the woods in the first place was anyone's guess. She certainly wouldn't have done so on her own- not with so much darkness to surround her. It could have been the cry of a hawk, a rabbit jumping out of the tall grasses, the rustling of the wind. It could have been nothing. Even on a good day the smallest of things could startle Stellina into a panic like this. Usually her mother would have been close by to calm her and take her back home. But her mother was not close by this time. And while her fear of the shadows was strong, the instinct to hide was much stronger. And where better to hide than amongst the thick overgrowth of the woods? Unfortunate that the combination of instinct and latent magic resulted in the deep shadows she feared so much. It would have been quite useful for hiding otherwise. As it were, all it really resulted in was Stellina hunched next to a tree with her wings draped over her face and her eyes shut tight. Trying as best she could to block out everything.

Raito had been awake since the sun had risen above the horizon, which was not unusual for him. He normally felt his spirits lift in the light of a new day, dispelling the darkness of the night and whatever may come of it. Today was different. Dwelling on things he couldn't change put a pall over his mood, like a dark cloud covering the sun. Unrequited love was... annoying, to say the least. He would do best to move on, let the feelings subside. Of course, he would always have a soft spot for the bright boy, but he needed to get over it. Of course, nothing was ever that easy. He had no idea how to get his mind off his feelings, so he did what he did best. Raito had found a high spot where he could catch the warmth of the sun as it rose higher, using it to center himself, remind himself who he was, what he was. And, to try and outshine the sun. At least, for a little while. He bright white light that he carried with him never really managed to outshine the sun, but he knew that when he was using all his power, at least all his Ulun'suti magic, he was a blazing beacon. Doing that, though, really drained him quickly, though, and left him at the mercies of his mind. Since he was traveling, still trying to decide whether or not to join the herd or not, maybe taking a permanent place as a wanderer, he had very little to distract himself. By the time the sun had risen to it's peak and began the slow process of it's decent, Raito had recovered quite a bit of his energy back and was trying to keep himself centered so he didn't randomly light up because his emotions were out of his control. So, in that regard, he was using his surroundings, focusing on each blade of grass, each breath of wind, each rustle of leaves to the point where the rest of the world melted away. It was then that he noticed the darkness. Raito had stepped out of the sunlight while following a sound, and found himself wrapped in the inky black of midnight. At midday. Startled, it took him a few minutes to get his barrings. Woods, okay, it was took dark for just woods, though. A Shadow 'suti? Little specks of light floated around him, almost blinding in the darkness, his eyes glowing without any effort from him as he took in everything that he could. It was then that he noticed a pale shadow, barely discernible in the dark. Raito couldn't really tell if it was something living or not, given how little of the pale form he could see, like something was covering it. Something other than the shadows. Concerned that it might be another Soquili, he called out softly, "Hello? Do you need help?" Then he lit up the darkness, drawing on his bright white light to make his skin glow, casting faintly tinted light over the darkness, his horn and eyes radiant. Finally, he could make out the form of another Ulun'suti standing against the tree, hiding in her wings. It didn't make much sense, so he waited for a response, unsure of himself.
