(Back dating a bit)

Quote:
If Terry, or anyone else he knew, caught him out like this and saw him - saw his eyes...they would flip. Terry would drag him to his house and force him to rest. He might get scolded for it even. He knew the knight of Ganymede, he really had issues pronouncing his name, would do more than scold him - he was fairly certain of it. They would not be pleased, to say the least. Xanthus he doubted would be thrilled either, consider it some sort of unnecessary danger being out here as he was. Fai would drag him off for dinner and then home, though he’d never been to the others home. If he ran into Havasu he figured some words but not much more, he didn’t figure much really. He seemed like the most laid back, and more easy going of the lot.

Seung figured he could of course be wrong with any of these assumptions, as he wasn’t any of these people, but he figured he had a fairly good idea of each situation and how it would play out. It was why when he went out tonight and powered up he told no one. He didn’t send a text out to anyone, didn’t let anyone know by sending some message via his ring. No one knew the page of Ganymede was out, his glasses on for the first time when powered up, and roaming the city.

His eyes still were sore, he felt it more since he had decided when waking up to take his pain killers to not do so. He had, at some point, decided he would go out tonight and he didn’t need to be that impaired. It meant dealing with the pain and soreness but he was managing, this wasn’t as bad as his nose had been years ago. A little pain for beauty wasn't much of a price really, at least not in his opinion. He just wished he could have his contacts in rather than the glasses, they were a risk as they could easily be knocked off his face, thrown somewhere, lost, dropped, or just straight up broken.

Since it was nighttime and the color changing frames would be of no use he’d opted for a different pair now, one which didn’t really match his uniform but he didn’t care much to be honest. He went with what he liked, and he did have a few pairs of glasses to pick from. Since he cosplayed, a lot back when he was in Korea, he had several pairs of glasses due to the costumes he had. It was why he had so many pairs he could pick from, and he figured he’d worn each one at least once in the last two weeks. He had a few more days of wearing glasses as well, he honestly couldn’t wait to get his contacts back in though, though Terry had said he didn’t look bad with glasses on and he wore them in the evenings around the other a lot.

Moving his hair out of his face he stepped over to the ledge of the roof top and jumped for the next one, the landing was jarring as usual, and he just stood there for a moment before he continued on.

Quote:
Havasu needed a break from work, class, work, class, work, class…. Something to break the tedium of life as an adult. It sucked that school had started back up, even worse now that it was his last year so he had his final project to do. Work was a mix of the bookstore and the simple clerical position he was temping at. He still had no clue how his mom had swung that position for him since as far as Hav knew their family was not connected to the temp business at all. It didn’t really matter anyway since apparently no one was willing to give him free time anytime soon. Not that he really could blame them since he really had been an a** for while.

So taking a sanity break Hav skipped his homework and went out patrolling. It had been quiet so he found himself sitting on a rooftop zoning out. Staring at the skyline but not really seeing it. His mind just wandering, traveling random paths with no real logic behind it.

Quote:
Venice meanwhile was on the move until he felt something, another knight...but stronger than he was. Should he? Dare he head that way? Biting on his bottom lip he finally decided to go for it, the odds of it being someone he knew were slim as far as he figured. There were how many knights in the city vs. how many knights he knew

Figuring himself safe, at least from running into someone he knew, he headed in that direction until he spotted a figure. They weren't moving they were just sitting on a rooftop and they seemed unaware of his presence. Maybe that was a good thing? It was Havasu and he really didn’t want the other noticing him, though the other wasn’t likely to give him a hard time.

Sighing he made for him anyway, calling out as he drew closer. “Havasu!”

Quote:
Even spacing out Hav had sensed someone approaching but since it was order he wasn’t too concerned about it. He just lounged on the roof and waited to see who was coming to say hi. Maybe whoever was coming would be up for a little practice or just some simple patrolling. Hell they could just sit here talking and he would be ok with that. Anything to break the monotony.

To his surprise he knew the voice that called out to him. With a welcoming smile Hav glanced over and waved, “Hey Venice. Come on over and keep me company.” He waited until the Ganny page got closer before asking the standard question, “How have you been man? I’m just chilling, letting my brain decompress after the repetitiveness that is being an adult. Bah… wish I was a kid again.” If he hadn’t spent several weeks straight pretty much drunk off his feet, it would have been tempting to just sit here sipping on a beer as the city lights twinkled around him.

Quote:
Standing over the other Venice stared down at his friend for a moment before seating himself on the rooftop next to the other. “Am good, tired...but good.” Tired was certainly telling the truth, he was, though the reason could have been a million and one things really.

“Too much work on plate?” He asked looking at the other, light from another building providing some lighting for them to see by. “Look good...look a bit tired.” Not that he was really one to talk, given how much he worked himself and how tired he was now and often was.

“Why be young? Lose too many things - privileges.” Couldn’t drive, more time with the parents hovering, school again perhaps. He was ok with being an adult, thank you very much, and prefered it. He had some freedom as an adult, though not as much as some people did. Adjusting his glasses he brushed his hair again from his face.

“How is school?...work at book store?”

Quote:
Hav eyed the page, brow quirking in question to the glasses the other knight was wearing. He didn’t think he had ever seen Venice wear glasses, either as a knight or as a civilian. It was definitely a different look for the young man. “That’s good. Whats with the glasses man?” He tapped the side of his face, right where the earpiece of glasses would have sat. The reflective light was good but not that good to see the small stitches that were a result of his friend’s surgery.

The sandy haired squire contemplated his friend’s question, silently wondering just how much to share. He didn’t really want to just dump his issues on someone else. Besides right now it was just repetitive days that was driving him nuts. “Just work. Repetitive, repetitive work. I’m pulling triple duty basicly, if I’m not in school then I’m working. Either at the bookstore or at another spot.” When it was summer the two jobs kept him occupied but now it was wearing on him with the extra work of school added on. Would his folks ok with him dropping the temp job? Or was there more too it than just keeping him busy and out of trouble?

“Naps man. It’s all about the naps.” Havasu joked. Naps, no bills, no responsibilities. That was the pinnacle of childhood. The knowledge that you could go to sleep without having to worry when you get up. That's what vacations were for but still, the end of said vacation always haunted you, counting down to the day you go back to being a productive member of society. “School is school work is work. It's going. Tedious but…”

He trailed off as he caught sight of Venice's eyes while the other was adjusting his glasses. “Dude! What happened?”

Quote:
“Can’t wear contacts for while...haven’t for last two weeks.” He couldn’t, he didn’t say why, but he knew they were a new thing for those who knew him. Those who had never seen them, and likely didn’t know his vision was...less than perfect.

“Too much work.” he said having listened to the other. The other needed a break, a vacation, though it was something he didn’t know about personally. He understood it as something people who didn’t work like he had been trained, since he was young, to do needed. He still pushed himself, a lot, but not as much as he used to. He was...getting a bit better but more so because there was nothing to fill the free time with. He worked, went to university and was a knight. He didn’t patrol every night and he couldn’t go to his wonder all the time, or he could, so he was left with free time...time he didn’t need to use for studying or homework or sleep...but actual free time...more than he was used to.

“Naps…?” He asked before shaking his head. “Didn’t have those….” Though he did now whenever Terry decided upon it, decided he was over working himself. There were also just the times at Terry’s where he went to sleep there earlier than he normally would. “Very different where I grew up.” He might have said more, Havasu might have also, but the other was staring at him now and asking about - oh!

Blinking he lifted his glasses, even though it messed with his distance vision and left everything blurry, in order to show the other his eyes. Swollen under them, making his eyes appear smaller, a stitch or two at either end under both eyes. They were dark and looked rather abused, and they sort of were. “They are ok, don’t worry.”

Quote:
Hav studied Venice’s face while his mind mulled over ‘no naps’ comment. What kind of childhood did he have where naps weren't the norm? “What happened?” It was kind of hard to tell in the uncertain light but Havasu had seen his fair share of stitches, had his own as well, and unless he was mistaken Venice was sporting some right below his eyes. “What's with the stitches? You get in a fight?”

Hav wondered if he had been so wrapped up in his personal life that he had missed his friend getting hurt. Then again it wasn't like he had been a very good friend to begin with, not between the drinking, the fights, being out of the country for a few months, and working the rest. He had spent time with Venice, more so than the others so far, but he really didn't know what was going on with the ‘younger’ knight. “Do we need to hunt someone down and beat them?”

Quote:
“No, no fight.” He said waving away the comment while bringing his glasses back down, so he could see the world properly. He really didn’t like wearing glasses most of the time, they got uncomfortable and in the way not to mention pushing them up often, but the styles he liked. At least they had nice style frames, even if a lot of other things he disliked about glasses.

“Was home this weekend for some...facial reshaping surgery…” What they called plastic surgery, although why he wasn't sure as there was no plastic involved, he had just reshaped things a little...very little this time. “Stitches come out in a few days, swelling will be down around then.” If not sooner. “Can’t put in contacts till then…” And he hadn’t been able to wear them in the two weeks leading up to it either.

Flattered by the other being protective of him the younger knight, though he wasn't that much younger, went and draped his arms about the others shoulders and hugged him. “Got aegyo sal surgery. No one to hurt for me.”

Quote:
Hav’s concern for the reason behind the stitches faded with Venice’s explanation only to be replaced with shock. He knew the other had gotten a nose job, he had told Hav as much, and the Pluto squire had seen enough people from the higher echelons go under the knife, but there hadn’t been anything wrong with the page so Hav really couldn’t understand why he had plastic surgery. And under his eyes as well! Wasn’t that like seriously dangerous? What did he get done anyway?

All of that passed through his mind before one thing that Venice said in particular filtered through. “Wait! Did you say you got this done this weekend? Why in the hell are you out here!?” The squire eyed Venice as the other knight came and snuggled up to him. He wasn’t really sure how to deal with it, first because he didn’t want to hurt Venice’s feelings and second he was wondering just what kind of pain killers the page was on. “Man, you really should be home in bed letting the pain killers work. Being out and about is not a good idea.” What is Eggyo Sall anyway???? Hav wondered as he tried to work a way out of extricating himself from Venice’s hug without actually changing spots… he was comfortable and didn’t actually feel like moving at all.

Quote:
“Not on pain killers right now. Was early today...or yesterday...time differences.” He said to explain that, so he didn’t sound drugged up - since he wasn’t. But there was an eleven hour time zone difference so today now was yesterday back home at times and it was a bit difficult even for him to keep track of at times.

“Left here Friday morning...fourteen hour flight...and eleven hours ahead...so Saturday there...late friday night here.” It really wasn’t the easiest of things to keep track of with backward and forward and trying to minus and add here and there. Nope, he was not good at keeping track of it all and he rather disliked trying to do so.

Shifting he let go of the other and lifted one hand, a single digit extended, and traced the area right under the others eye. It was close, right at the under eyelid. “Aegyo sal...eye smile...wanted nicer one.” As a person got older some of the baby fat there vanished, or you didn’t have much of an aegyo sal anyway, and it got smaller...and less of an eye smile.

“Sore and hurts a bit...tender...but not bad - not like my nose was.”

Quote:
“You just got it done and aren't on pain killers?” Hav’s face said ‘bullshit’ quite clearly. He totally didn’t get the need to do any elective plastic surgery but to go without painkillers quite literally after was insane. Either way, as far as the squire was concerned Venice really should have been home resting but he could understand how stir crazy you could get at home but him being out possessed a more challenging issue. Havasu wouldn’t have minded getting into a fight but it wasn’t a good idea for the Ganny knight, with both of them sitting there they were much more tempting targets. Hav couldn’t just leave Venice there either.

“Time shifts suck so yeah, you pretty much got it done tomorrow.” The sandy haired knight waved away the mental gymnastics required to figure when the procedure happened. “Either way you really shouldn’t be out here. Just imagine what would happen if a nega officer showed up or a youma. Man… that wouldn’t be good. But,” He sighed and shrugged, “I totally get the ‘got to go out and about’ feel.” Hell that's why I’m sitting on a rooftop watching the city go on around me. he silently added. But that did give him an idea, “Since sticking around really isn’t a safe bet how about taking a jant to my homeworld? It would be relaxing and totally new environment and no chaos to bug us. What do ya say?”

Quote:
“Have been till few hours ago.” He answered shrugging. “Planned to come out and didn’t think would be good idea.” At least he had been thinking about what was, and wasn’t, a good idea to do when planning to go out and patrol. Being on painkillers was not a good idea, it would impair him too much and put him at risk of being attacked and easily injured, killed, or whatever else.

With the other managing the mental math on the time zones and when he’d gone under the knife he nodded his head, agreeing with it though unsure if it was right, it was honestly too much for him to figure. “Yes, but duty and I can see fine.” Unless his glasses came off, than his distance vision would be shot. But it wasn’t that bad...right? He could handle himself in a fight, about as much as he normally could anyway...well ok so maybe not but he could try.

“Your wonder...ok.” He had never seen it and he couldn’t get to his, he was blocked for now, so he might as well. He would bring Havasu to his wonder as soon as he could, not that it was a lot to see - it was a work in progress.

Quote:
With a sigh Hav tried to calm his mind, he still needed to work on chilling out in order to make the trip to his wonder, he and Venice really needed to have a talk about pushing oneself. He had to be in pain so why would he be running around the city just looking for a fight? It really wasn’t a good idea but he wasn’t exactly the best person to talk to about that since he really had spent months looking for fights when he was ‘distracted’ by alcohol and mental pain rather than physical pain and pain killers.

Muttering to himself, he really was over thinking things, the squire shifted around until he was cross legged, closed his eyes, and started to breath, counting as he did so. Fill the lungs, hold it for a count, empty the lungs, hold it for a count, repeat… over and over as the mind quiets and the worries just fade. Soon he had regained the emptiness he had felt while zoning out, watching the city. Cracking a moss green eye open he asked, “ready? We could always go to your wonder instead.”

Quote:
“Can’t...too soon.” He answered the other before snaking his arms about one of Havasu’s arms. Leaning into the others side and looking at him. “Will go to mine when I can, I will take you. It’s...dusty and a mess...it is an old, big, theater.” Old fashioned also but certainly large - very large. “I have been...trying to work on it. Removed carpet in some area, new curtain - some.” He hadn’t replaced them all, not yet, he couldn’t. He couldn’t get up to the stage ones or the ones for the small, and the large, balcony areas. He needed to get to them though, in time, the stage ones he had no idea how to get and it wouldn’t be safe either. He needed to fix the floors, especially the stage floor.

“Wonder...repair...don’t know how to do it all.” How to put down a floor, especially with no power and other things, he had no idea how to do it all. He knew, from his talks with Terry, that there were books on how to do various home repairs. But that didn’t help when there was no ability for power tools so how to cut everything to the right size? A small hand saw...or measuring everything and then cutting it all back in Destiny City and bringing it all up there? But then the time spent in between - it was too long. And if he got something wrong or needed to sand something or recut something he couldn’t. It just seemed ridiculous and time consuming.

He would work on his wonder though - do his best. He would fix what he could and eventually tackle the bigger things - the stage floor. He would find how else to get down there first, so he didn’t lock himself out of what he considered the basement. That would lock him out of the living quarters and office and he didn’t want to do that.

Quote:
“Ahh ok. Well maybe we can work on that some time but right now let’s go someplace to relax.” Hav smiled over at the page. He knew, at least abstractly, that few knights wonders were habitable but for some reason his was. Maybe because the majority of the ‘living’ space was hidden behind the walls of the red rock canyon but there might be spots that needed work, he just hadn’t found them.

Taking a few more calming breaths with his eyes closed he made that internal connection every knight had to his or her wonder and before he could really think about it the world dropped out from under him. It felt like his stomach had crawled into his throat and he couldn’t catch his breath but before he could even register this it was over. The sounds of the city were replaced by the sound of thundering water, cool air caressed his face, while a sharp stone dug into his backside.

Havasu opened his eyes to see that they had arrived on the one stone area that bordered the falls and the pond it formed. Moonlight bathed the canyon, turning the turquoise water silver and dusting the red rock with shadows and light. His namesake poured from the cliff high above their heads sending a cooling mist over them and the surprising amount of greenery around and behind them. Taking a deep breath of the cool air he let it out slowly, “Ahhhh. Much better then the city.” Shifting slightly to detangle himself from Venice, it really seemed like he might have to talk to him about the whole ‘you got a boyfriend’ thing, the squire stood up and stretched, brushing at the seat of his pants “So what do you think?” Hav asked, he knew that the other knight wouldn't see anything but a empty canyon full of water, stone, and plants. The true secret of the place was hidden from view and required knowing where they were.

Quote:
He had only seen one other knights wonder, Erebus’, and he hadn’t talked to other knights really about their wonders so he honestly didn’t know what to expect with Havasu’s wonder - hadn’t a clue. “Am working on mine slowly.” He was, and he was looking to Erebus as well. He was planning to make curtains for the others wonder, as well as bedding whenever Erebus got a good bed at his wonder. He had a bed and mattress at his wonder - both new. He had bedding he’d bought but he was now looking to make bedding also, it would be better in a way...maybe cheaper too.

The sounds of the city fading away were expected but the thunder, chest tightening, sound of the water falling was unexpected. He really hadn’t a clue what he was expecting but this was not it. When he did open his dark eyes he found himself staring. A waterfall...damn. It was lovely as well. The stone digging into his back was ignored, for now, as he took off his glasses to remove some of the micro drops of water covering the lenses. When he put his glasses back on he turned his gaze to the other knight.

“Very different from my wonder.” He said at first, an obvious thing, as he stood slowly and dusted himself off and glanced around them. “It is lovely...very...nature. Mine is in what was a city.” Even at his wonder he couldn’t escape the city thing, though it was a deserted city up on Ganymede. It was a city none the less. “Nice place to camp...to enjoy peace and time with friends.”

Quote:
“Camping? Yeah I guess you could bring a tent and camp but it wouldn’t be the most comfortable night.” With a grin Hav started to walk off towards the greenery, becoming Venice to follow. As he led the other behind the screen of plants, the sound of the falls fading significantly, Hav said, “There is more to this place that meets the eye though. Normally I would have just dived into the water, it’s faster that way but I figure that will have to be saved for another day since we really don’t want to agitate your eyes.” His rambling took them across the wide, mostly shallow, river from the falls, around the pools that calcium deposits made, and onto the ‘sandy’ beach on the other side of the pool from where they started.

“This would be the best spot to camp if someone really wanted to sleep under the stars.” He pointed up to where thousands of stars shone on the velvet night sky. A small swatch bordered by the tall canyon walls. “Sometimes when I come up here I just float in the water and just stare at the stars. Wondering which ones are the same that I can see from Earth. Is there a senshi for each of those stars? A knight? Could one of them be looking back at me from those same stars and wondering the same things? It really puts the world in perspective, you know?” After glancing over at Venice for a moment Hav continued on his way.

Past the scrub brush and to the canyon wall… the blank canyon wall. His grin really couldn’t get any bigger as he slipped his ring off and pressed it into a shadowed nook in the stone. There was a soft click, a puff of air, and then an almost eerie lack of sound as a large section of the stone just withdrew into the canyon wall leaving a dark tunnel behind. “I actually found this entrance from the inside. Took me a while to figure out how to open it from this side. Give me a moment.” He held up a finger, asking the page to wait while Hav disappeared into the darkness only to reappear moments later as light bloomed from within. The squire fiddled with a brass lamp that was mounted on the stone wall for a moment, it's frosted glass covering hiding the light source from sight. Before long light bloomed up and down the entire tunnel from countless ornate brass sconces.

Quote:
It might not be comfortable but he’d never been camping, it was something you saw in movies and heard about. He lived in a big city and had never been out to the country for even a trip never mind camping. He didn’t count the camping trip with himself and the other Ganymede knights - that inside a building. It was in the woods though...but not in a tent so it wasn’t the same in his mind.

Following the other knight, behind a veil of plant life, he took the time to marvel over it, to wonder what other sorts of wonders there were. What couldn’t there be? Now that he was seeing this wonder - which was so different from his own. The others consideration for his eyes was expected, the other seemed to care a bit more than Seung himself did when it came to his health. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips as the other mentioned no going via water due to his still healing eyes - he appreciated the others words. Another day...would Havasu be bringing him back here in the future? It was a nice idea...this wonder was so different from his own - it was lovely. Turning his dark eyes skyward Venice couldn’t help but let a peaceful sigh pass his lips. He hadn’t taken the time to really look up at his wonder. He had been outside but it had been raining...the sky and stars blocked from view.

“Haven’t seen the stars at my wonder...not yet.” He whispered while imagining camping at a place like this. “I can’t camp at my wonder...can sleep there but no water running.” Which would be an issue for bathing and bathroom needs. If he somehow had running water he’d make due with candle light for everything and spend the night at his wonder, he would enjoy it, but unfortunately no running water.

“Does put things in picture...and maybe a senshi for every star...maybe not. Wonder if all them are like these…” Destroyed, without civilization, no people or anything living on them. Such a vastness of space with so many suns, planets, stars...and if all of them were like that - what sadness. But there were all those sightings of aliens throughout history...that was promising right? That proved the idea wrong...there had to be life elsewhere! Were there senshi though? And knights? What would such life be like?

Stopping at the others side he watched, wondering what the other was doing, when he heard the click and saw the stone moving. Oh! Like something from a movie...a hidden room in an old house or something from an adventure movie! He wanted to say something about that, about it being cliche and at the same time amazing, he didn’t say anything though and simply waited till the other returned. The light was appreciated, his own wonder needed more light, as he moved over to the others side.

“Lead way, this is interesting...living inside rocks and canyon stone.”

Quote:
Havasu glanced back at his friend and winced, “Yeah no running water would make life hard.” He honestly didn’t have any idea where the water came from, just that it was there. “Luckily we won’t have that issue here.” He made his way deeper into the lit tunnel, his fingers trailing along the polished stone. It really was a beautiful stone; a swirl of pale red and a much deeper maroon, hints of gold and sandy cream, flashes of mica, quartz, and other sparkly material, all polished to a dull shine. Hav knew that they were getting closer when the decorations started, every so often there was either an alcove carved out of the stone walls which held a wooden pedestal and some kind of random sculpture or a painting against the wall of some sirene looking location. The carpeting would pick up once they were in the main section.

“I honestly don't know what happened here but it always struck me as some sort of spa or hotel. No clue what other wonders are like.” He shrugged and paused as they came to a blank stone wall at the end of the tunnel. “Just like I have no idea why so many sections are blocked off from each other.” He smiled his crooked smile before triggering the ‘door’. Once the stone had slid into the wall the lights on the other side slowly brightened revealing a hall of carved wooden doors, the floor carpeted in a semi-southwestern pattern in dusty tones of red, cream, green, and gold, the same decorations from their side interspersed with the doors while the same ornate brass lamps illuminated it all. “Each room is pretty much the same, a simple ‘hotel room’. You know, one of the rooms that really look all alike even if the picture on the wall is different or the furniture is rearranged in each room.”

As he led his friend into the new section the ‘door’ closed silently behind them, the lamps fading off. Hav knew that the first ‘door’ had long since closed, if he didn’t need his ring to open each one he would have thought they were on some kind of sensor or something. “The main section is completely generic, it isn’t until you get to the knight’s complex that it seems to be more personal.” He knew he hadn’t even explored a fraction of the place so he had no idea what kinds of secrets his wonder truly held within it’s depths.

Quote:
Watching Havasu’s reaction, the wince, he found himself almost laughing. It was indeed hard to spend time at his wonder when there was no running water. Some needs could be handled but most could not, he was hoping to find some way - anyway - to get water to his wonder. He couldn’t bring it up with him...that would limit anything else and it would be heavy, it would also look very odd and attract attention in all likelihood.

Walking just a step or two behind the other knight, dark eyes taking in the different colors of the stone walls, he let his eyes trail over to the other as he spoke. “Could have been. Mine was big theater, balcony seats and big box balcony.” Something for important people. He knew it had have been important, and not just because it was a wonder, the size and fact it had such a box told him it was likely popular among higher up people. He hadn’t thought to ask his ancestor about how important or the types of plays shown, he just knew that none were written by his ancestor. Even if his ancestor had produced anything would it have been in whatever style Ganymede had or something from their shared home? Their shared birth place?

Pansori hadn’t been around then, not when his ancestor had lived and died, but what had been? He couldn’t think, it hadn’t been anything which had come up in school, he’d ask at some point. His ancestor and him talked a lot about their shared home country, with him mostly telling the elder what had become of Korea now, while trying to dampen some of the information he dropped on the elder. It was hard to find out your country had faced war and split into two halves, with one half suffering greatly.

As another door opened he focused himself back on the here and now, on watching everything and listening to the other. “Only personal touches at my wonder are in living quarters. Haven’t seen everything though - not yet.” He had more exploring to do, he knew he did, but that would come in time. It was a slow process but it was one he was working on, as he did want to repair and replace as much as he could. This wonder though...it looked to be in really good shape - it was pleasing to see. It gave him a sort of hope that he could bring his back around in time, even though Havasu’s wonder hadn’t been hit like his or Erebus’ had.

“Maybe security reasons for all the sealed off areas? Keep special people safe...or have private time..” He ventured to offer. It would make sense though it was also a bit odd...nothing he’d ever seen. Nowadays you’d expect it really with how some famous people were stalked and treated - but nope. They didn’t have such things for them. Maybe back then, here, it had been a thing though?

Quote:
“Cool. Bet the acoustics are fantastic. It's gotta be hard to imagine it full of people all watching some performance. Milling around during the intermissions and just filling the building with life. If only the walls could talk, right?” Hav commented, trying to picture what Venice’s wonder was like. He was mixing the famous Opera houses of the world but still he didn't think he was close. What kind of style were Ganymede’s buildings? Gothic? Renaissance? Baroque? Neoclassical? Or was it a style all its own? A mix of them all? Or none? He really wanted to see it now. To distract himself Hav focused on their path. Mentally mapping the route they were going to take, the number of doors they will pass, the different types of art, the carpet changes… anything to keep his mind wandering back to Venice’s theater hall.

“I don’t expect any of us to have seen everything. There likely would always be something new to find. Why else would they call it a Wonder?” The cowboy joked as he led them ever deeper into the stone that comprised of his wonder. It didn’t take long for them to pass through yet another secret panel into what Hav concerned the true heart of his wonder, the knight’s living quarters. They passed large empty halls, hotsprings, a suite of rooms, even a kitchen. He knew that behind those polished stone walls there lay, behind several more hidden doors, the code. Nestled in its own little grotto, passing judgement on them all like some peeping tom.

Mentally shaking off his flash of anger at the omniscient little ball of phlegm he paused outside of a nondescript wooden door. It looked just like every other carved wooden door they had walked past. With a shrug he turned the brass knob and revealed a room crammed with books. Books stacked everywhere, scrolls teetering on top, no pattern whatsoever to the mess. “Not sure about the first or even second door but that third one was to keep this area private. Just for the use of the knight of Havasu Falls. No one has said anything different so that's what I’m going to stick with until I’m told otherwise. Now I know you should be resting so we can go back and just chill in the hot springs a few doors back but I also figured I should atleast use some of my time here searching for that info Xan asked about.” Hav left the decision up to his fellow knight. From what he knew of the page, sitting idle wasn’t really his thing so even though all Hav truly wanted to do was just veg out in the warm water of the personal hot springs he had a feeling they would be delving into a room he hadn’t done more then open the door to.

“Yes, if only. Feels very...haunted and wrong to walk there with no other sounds.” He said after a few moments of silence. His wonder was lovely, and big, but so empty...it was hard to imagine what it once had been like and what it could eventually become again - maybe? The work he needed to do to restore it, and that it would still be empty. He was sure he knew what it felt like for a person who lived in a large home, along, felt when walking around at night or when it rained and it felt like they were swallowed whole by the place they called home.

He had been to ancient palaces and temples, his country had plenty of them, but never had he been to ruins of an ancient culture that was gone, like in ancient Greece or Rome, but on Ganymede he imagined the feeling would be similar, only his wonder was more intact. He wasn’t sure how to properly describe the feelings when he was there but he knew what he felt, could compare it to other things, and still it felt...lacking when he tried to word it.

“Perhaps, but they are finite size...cannot grow. Maybe one day we have seen all of a wonder - our wonder.” Maybe it would just come down to seeing little details you had missed, little decorations here and there. But really it would have all been seen and explored. That time would surely come - right? At least you would see all it had to offer in its present state, since you couldn’t go back in time and see what it had once been. Time wasn’t something they could break the laws of - right?

“Ancestors quarters, at Venice, are down a tunnel and behind stone wall - like Harry Potter Diagon Alley.” Venice offered up the bit of info while glancing about them. It was a good idea for the knight to keep separate living quarters hard to get to ones, at their wonder. “Makes sense to be separate and hidden. In case of...situations.”

Listening to the other he nodded his head once. “We can look, see if we can help Xanthus.” If they could find anything which might help that would be good, and while he likely should be resting he would rather not - it wasn’t his style. “I will ask ancestor...not sure how to ask - about energy taking...would not be agreeable to him. Nothing written in Korean that I have seen at Venice.” And yet they shared the same home country and the same language. They didn’t share the same written though, so even if he found something in Korean it would be the wrong Korean.

“Even if written in Korean - cannot read it...maybe with help but not on own.”

“Yeah, I can imagine.” Hav had never realized how a large empty space could feel haunted almost, at least not here at his own wonder. Rather he felt like there was always someone there, puttering around just beyond the corner. It was kinda like when he found his ring, like a voice on the wind almost. Maybe it was the wonder itself, or his ancestor… who had yet to show up the rat fink… or just Hav’s imagination. Either way his place never really felt empty but he knew what a large empty building felt like. Creepy times ten.

“You got a point but hey… we are quite literally in a building of magic. Anything is possible.” The squire smiled over at his companion as he strode into the ‘library’. Hav assumed it was the library but since nothing was in any discernible order who knew. Maybe it was his ancestor’s study… his insult room… or even jokes. Mountains and mountains of jokes. Really, anything could be written in the books, it wasn’t like Hav ever checked them out. He might work at a bookstore but that did not mean he was a bibliophile like his boss. Wincing at the sheer amount of work in front of them, he was starting to rethink his suggestion.

“Cool. You need to tap certain bricks to get it to open? Hey look! A table!” He exclaimed as he spotted a table buried under more stacks of paper in a small nook, partially hidden by the shelves that overflowed. Rather overwhelmed by the mess Hav just stood in the room, even with the shelves it seemed more papers, books, and scrolls were stacked on the floor. Seriously who even ‘organizes’ a place like this? Scoffing, Havasu quipped as he gently poked a stack of books with his boot, “Yeah to hide their atrocious messes.” He knew what Venice ment but at that moment the knight felt it was more to protect others from the insane jumble of his ancestor’s rather than the other way around. The fact that this was the only room like it he had found was lost on him for the moment.

With a sigh he picked up a book, better to start now rather than later. “Venice if we find anything useful in here I will be a monkey’s uncle. I don’t even think anything can even be read.” He had opened to a random page and stared at the cramped, looping scrawl in some language that Hav didn’t think even existed outside of this room. “Maybe there is a picture book in here somewhere,” he absently muttered as he flipped through his book seeing nothing but more indiscernible scribbling. Fed up with it he closed it and looked up at Venice, “So you have actually seen your Ancestor? Talked to him? That must be cool.”

Havasu could imagine for now what such a large, and empty, place felt like but when he went with Venice to his wonder he’d feel it. He was sure the other would, since he felt it, the only time he didn’t feel it was when he was with his ancestor down in the living quarters. Even then though...it felt haunted. Like you’d expect in a movie, where something would creep by unnoticed and later on jump out to get you. It felt creepy no matter what, just lessened when down there. The problem was that Venice didn’t think there was any real way to alleviate the feeling, not unless he could conjure up people for his wonder. It was a feeling which he knew would not leave it any time within the span of his life.

Perking up at the others question he nodded. “Yes, like that - with bricks.” He said before the other was pointing out a table. Approaching he took stock of the mess surrounding them in the library. Someone in the past had a thing for reading, but what kinds of things did they read? Reaching for a scroll he was careful in unrolling it, no point in risking its destruction. “Maybe to hide messes, not my wonder but maybe here.” Venice said shooting the other a teasing smile. His own wonder’s living quarters seemed nice and neat, at least from what he could tell. But this...this library was a mess. “Someone liked reading...or many things to write?” He questioned as he re-rolled the scroll and gingerly put it down, he couldn’t read it. It was in some language he’d never seen before.

“Don’t think any language we know will be here...not even at my wonder, so far.” He hadn’t looked at everything but what he had seen was not in a language he knew or anything even close to it.

“Pictures might help.” As childish as it sounded it would be something and it could give them some assistance. Everyone started learning to read with pictures books, and they all told of something, so they might help indeed.

“Yes, in living quarters...and talked many times. Honored ancestor is someone to trust and welcome to speak with. Very different thoughts….much older ways...very different times...but very good to speak with. I have talked to him, shown him, changes in time to our home.” Seeing as they shared a birth place.

With a smile and a laugh Hav worked his way to a shelf. They would need clean while they searched if they ever hoped to find anything. “Even if we can't read anything we can atleast try to put this room to rights.” He carefully cleared one shelf but paused as he was flipping through a new book, searching for anything he recognized. Turning to look at his friend, Hav smiled and said, “I have a feeling Jessie would be in heaven if she ever saw this room.” Both knew the bibliophile, Hav worked for her while Venice taught her Korean, and both knew how into books she was.

Still chuckling at the mental picture of his boss’ face on seeing this mess Hav got to work. “Pass me any books that don't seem useful,” he said as he added a book to his cleared shelf. Best to just get started and get it over with. As he picked up yet another book and casually started to check it Hav Alex Venice questions about his ancestor. It helped to pass the time as the duo worked to straighten the room as best they could until finally they stopped. They weren't done but the room looked less like a tornado hit it. books were either on shelves or stacked properly, scrolls had their own shelf and the table was mostly cleared off. They had really done a remarkable job.

With a sigh and a stretch, his back popping as he worked the kinks out, Hav got to his feet from where he had been sitting. “I think we both deserve a good soak in the hot springs, yeah?”

“She would...would try and find way to organize it all also.” Though how he wasn’t sure. Not knowing what anything was about, nor being able to read titles, it would be near impossible but Jessie would try and find some method - he was sure of it. The idea of any books, scrolls, or anything not being on a shelf and being scattered about would no doubt bother her. He had a feeling she might see it as something akin to blasphemous in fact. He’d never met someone who loved books as much as she did, it was impressive.

The cleaning up of the library, which was mostly just shelving books and other things in particular order, was done while the two talked. Havasu asking questions and him answering as best he could. The questions were fairly simple, the other asking about his ancestor and his wonder, things he expected and nothing for him to hide or conceal. He had no issue with the topic actually, it wasn’t bad to talk about and was fitting seeing as they were at the other knights wonder.

By the time it seemed they were stopping, at least for now, they had come no closer in finding anything they could actually read. They had however made progress in cleaning the room, the desk could now actually be used. He did wonder why the last knight here left it as such a mess...they surely couldn’t use the desk themself, and the point of a desk was to be used.

“Sure.” Nodding his head as he looked to the other and motioned for Havasu to lead the way. “Got good amount done here. Time to relax.” Having noted the other stretching and working kinks out of his back. His own neck was sore and got a good stretching as he popped it a bit.

With a smile and a laugh he lead the way out. Who knew spending a few hours sorting a room would have been a good way to destress. Now it was time to work the kinks out with some hot water and some good conversation.
