Quote: This enemy can be fought solo! You venture a bit out into the swamplands, following a strange sound in the distance -- and before you can get too far, you spot a medium-sized animal, floundering around a bit among the trees. As you approach, you notice something strange: some shredded fabric still clinging around one foot, or around its neck, like the remnants of some long-destroyed clothing. At this point, it occurs to you that this might be a transformed human being. maybe it's even one of you. And you must capture it. Except it doesn't seem to want to be captured. Your approach spooks it, and it attacks you in blind fear. Hit Points: 30 HP Damage: 4 HP each time you attack If you bring this monster down below 5HP, it is injured and can be captured and brought back to the campsite for safe keeping until you can figure out what to do. However, if you drop it below 0HP, you kill it. Either outcome, once finished with at least 500 words each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following: 1-40: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 41-99: Moly Flower: a small white flower with a dark root. You're not quite sure what it's for, but decide to keep it. 100: Fine Wine: Why would an animal have a bottle of wine? Considering all that's going on, we strongly suggest you don't drink. If you act rashly and do, though, please PM and be blue for consequences. There wasn't exactly time to find Cas and check on him once the turned Chosen began to hightail it into the surrounding area. As much as she wanted to take a pause to find him first, she was already desperately rising and trying to figure out which of the not-actually-an-animal animals they should chase after. With her fingers still gripped around Rose's wrist--she wasn't terribly conscious of it--they began to move in tandem. Although really, it was more than likely that she was just following the beauty's lead. The hysteria was just now ebbing from her own rattled mind. Venturing into the woods wasn't exactly something she found smart after the whole food incident but she knew they had to wrangle the chosen. Up a head she could hear a thrashing of leaves. It didn't however seem to quell the surprise of the wombat that was seemingly panicked as it swatted at something in a bush. The fact a lone sock seemed to be hanging onto the creature's back right foot... "Hey there," she called out and immediately realized it was not going to cooperate.

Like some backwards Disney movie, Rose moved Marisol's grasp on her to lace their fingers together and ran. This was -- this was beyond a travesty, because if they weren't careful, they could murder their fellow Chosen. The idea was horrifying, heartbreaking, and scared her in a way she didn't know she could be: what if it was Marisol or Cas? What would she do? Could she shoot at them?
She wasn't sure she wanted to know the answer.
The dancer saw the wombat before she did, sliding slightly in the foliage-heavy forest, fingers reaching back to grip the curve of her bow. "They're just..." she spoke softly, heavily, "...gone. They're all beast, and we are but trespassers."
Rose turned her blue eyes to Marisol with worry. Did they fight, then?

"We fight and pray we only injure it to the point we can take it back with us," she hated to think it, let alone say it, but she wasn't exactly counting on some tacit agreement to be reached in this state. Whatever humanity the Chosen still had, it wasn't exactly present as the creature began to rush towards them. And she really didn't want those teeth to get any of her flesh. Fingers slipping away, Marisol pulled the whip from around her waist where she'd been using it as a makeshift belt. The fabric of her tank top had mostly kept it hidden but now it was needed. She gripped the handle and whipped it towards the creature, the leather causing it to screech as it flung a mess of rocky dirt at her. The pebbles stung as they scratched but it was better than the alternative. Marisol's Health: 47 - 4 = 43 HP Wombat's Health: 30 - (200% x 4) = 22 HP
Marisol's Weapon: Whip (4 Base; +1 Hit)

"I agree," she murmured softly, looking at the creature almost piteously. The expression quickly changed as the wombat charged the dancer, catching Rose almost entirely off guard. She didn't even have the chance to say Marisol's name before the woman was injured; just like that, her empathy faded enough for her to unshoulder her bow, the curve of it settling comfortably against her palm, her free hand withdrawing an arrow. It was all fluid and fast, and without so much as an arch of a brow, the arrow was let loose, hitting the wombat hard enough to knock it back a solid two feet.
Hurt her lady? Rose would have something to say about that. "Chosen or not," she said almost as an aside to the woman who had spurred her into action, "I'm not going to stand by at let you be harmed in this. Not if I can help it." And until her fingers were broken and her legs as unable to carry her, she was fully capable of knocking some damn sense into the beast.
Rose's HP: 47 - 4 = 43 Wombat: 22 - 12 = 10 Weapon: Balanced Bow (6 base)

"My lady knight hero," she couldn't help breathing as songstress took action. She pitied anyone who thought they could harm one of their three without two of them seeking a harsh retribution. And even as some of the teasing and fun of just being themselves, together, returned there was still this turned Chosen to deal with. Its eyes seemed to shift between them and before it could decide who to attack, she sent the whip cracking towards the claws. It seemed to rise up, vaguely human like, as if offended before moving into a more offensive position. Energy was draining, she could tell, but she didn't want to kill it. Nor was it quite ready to give in. Marisol's Health: 43 - 4 = 39 HP Wombat's Health: 10 - (100% x 4) = 6 HP
Marisol's Weapon: Whip (4 Base; +1 Hit)

The songstress laughed softly. "Does that make you the Princess? And Cas -- the dragon?" Rose bit back a smile, not entirely wanting to make light of the situation, but not exactly wanting to drown in the seriousness of it either. There had to be a tight rope walk, and she fancied herself somewhat of an expert.
Another arrow was notched, pulled back taut -- and then she paused, frowning. Her hold loosened, and when the arrow was released, it wasn't with anger or fear, it was mindful -- the attack was hardly half of what it could have been. It was enough to lame the wombat, and with a soft sound of relief, Rose lowered the bow.
"We should take it back," she said, worried blue eyes turning to Marisol. "I don't know if we can save them all, but...we may have a chance, with this one."

"I could live with that," she chuckled, considering the role, "though really I think we're both kickass queens." The idea of Cas as a dragon however-- A warm smile grew as the blonde's arrow just exhausted the creature. She relaxed as the tension leaked from her shoulders and nodded in agreement with her partner. "We'll save this one and all the ones we can," she promised as she moved forward. She carefully examined the beast, fingers skimming through fur. It seemed to be relatively unharmed despite their beating it. "We should have brought a wagon or wheelbarrow," she mused. It was a hefty thing--not nearly as big as something like a deer but at least the size of a medium sized dog. She guessed 50lbs; manageable but not exactly easy. 26: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent.

Setting her bow against a tree, she removed her overshirt, leaving her in her nice but reasonable pants and a plain undershirt tank top. Kneeling down, she carefully wrapped the overshirt around the wombat, trying to fashion a sort of sling or handle with the sleeves. "I thought I was your Queen, my Liege?" she glanced up to Marisol with a slight smile, fishing the task with her deft fingers.
"There, we -- " She paused. A flower. Carefully pulling the Moly Flower from its fur, she looked quizzically at the dark-haired dancer before tucking it carefully in her pack. "...there we go," she finally finished, getting back to her feet and situating her bow. "I'll grab this one, but if there's another, it'll be your turn to carry. Not quite a bet, but I think we're a good team, you and I."
And that, quite frankly, was an understatement.
