 Salacia moved into the school theatre like she owned it, she didn't believe anyone else deserved the part of little red, it was hers and she would hiss at anyone who stood in her way. Salacia looked at the red curtains, imagining the night of the school play, standing up there bowing a little, as all the parents clapped for her. She didn't really believe any of the other students meant anything to the play, so she paid them little mind as she waited for her turn to audition for the part of little red. Salacia had a huffy look on her face, she didn't like waiting for the teacher to listen to all the other students. Salacia wanted her turn now.

Aurelia was super excited to see that the school was doing a play and Little Red Riding Hood was a fun one; a little sweet, a little scary and a little action with a good story. She was already imagining what kind of role she would audition for, what she might get if any and she was genuinely curious to see how others auditioned. While waiting for her turn, she watched as other kids went up and tried their hardest to be the cute girl in the red hood, the big scary wolf, the sweet meek grandma or the brave woodsman and it was getting her so pumped up. She squirmed and bounced in place a bit, the biggest smile plastered on her face as she tried so hard to not just jump up there and join someone. That would be rude, after all. Figuring a way to pass the time and resist the urge, she decided to do some character work to herself; singing a little tune she imagined Red would, doing her best to make a grandma voice and look crippled and even trying to growl like a wolf might. It might have looked pretty silly as the nixie acted to herself.

Salacia rolled her eyes at many of the performances by the other students, she thought they were all fools, not good enough for the parts. Salacia got up when it was her turn and she tried out for the part of little red, then the teacher told her to read the part of the big bad wolf. Salacia was rather having fun growling and threatening to eat the grandma and little red. Salacia loved the staring role, but at her heart, Salacia was a little bit of a villian. Salacia turned as the teacher called up a little annoying looking Nixie to try for the part of little red. Salacia growled and hissed at the girl, thinking they would be a pathetic little red. Salacia said in a catty tone. "Let's see what you got."

Aurelia looked up to the stage as the Naga girl was called up, watching as she tried a bit for the part of Little Red and then was asked to try for the wolf. She had to admit that the girl was good and looked like she was really getting into the role; in costume, Aurelia might have believed that she truly was the wolf! She watched in awe of her performance and then blinked when she was called up to read for Little Red. A smile on her face, she jaunted up to the stage and took her respective place. Hearing what the Naga girl said, and the tone she said it in, Aurelia raised her eyebrow slightly but just decided that she was still in wolf-mode and went with it. She read the part of the script they were doing, which was the famous scene in the cottage between the wolf in disguise and Red. "I'm here, grandmother! I've brought some treats and some medicine for you!" Aurelia used a cheerful tone that one might expect from a naive little girl, looking up at the Naga in mock surprise. "Oh grandmother, what big eyes you have..." Aurelia was already having fun with this.

Salacia laid down on the stage since they didn't have a prop bed yet, and she pretended to be the wolf pretending to be the grandma. Salacia liked it tricking others, made her happy. "Oh little red thank you for coming my dear." She said pretending to cough like she was sick. Then Salacia said one of the best classic lines, in response to little red questioning her eyes. "The better to see you with my dear." Salacia tried to remember to hold off grinning since that wasn't till the my what big teeth you have part. Salacia was having so much fun with the dark role of the wolf, she had forgotten to growl and hiss at the nixie girl just for the fun of it.

Aurelia smiled as she heard the girl recite the lines rather well, trying to hold herself back from giving her all kinds of praise until they were done with the scene. She heard the famous answer and nodded in understanding, then pretended to look up at what would be a pair of large wolf ears if they were there. "Oh....grandmother, what big ears you have.." She said in an awed voice, even putting her hand up to her mouth to mimic surprise at seeing the unfamiliar apendages.

Salacia gave another pretend coughed before she went on to say. "The better to hear you with my dear." Salacia was excited, soon she would get to jump up and say the better to eat you with!! It was Salacia's favorite part of this story. Salacia was always a little sad that the wolf didn't win in this story. Salacia still intended to be catty and harsh with this nixie girl, even if she did think her acting wasn't too bad. She would make a good little red, even though Salacia would be better to admit it. Salacia didn't do sweet forward compliments. All of her compliments would be backhanded and rude in some fashion.

Aurelia hid her smile to temper her excitement, instead taking on a look of suspicion now that Little Red was seeing abnormal things about her grandmother. She finally looked to the Naga's mouth, looking a little afraid as she imagined Red might. "And grandmother....w-what big teeth you have.." Aurelia could already imagine the wolf's big, toothy and intimidating grin, possibly glistening with drool at the prospect of devouring the little girl that stood before it. It certainly helped her get into character, her eyes wide as she could picture that gaping maw coming for her....oh dear, she was getting too deep into her own imagination again.

Salacia leaned up at her favorite line and said hers, growling and hissing. "The better to eat you with my dear!!" Salacia sprung up and pretended to take off a hat and mask. She was tempted to chase the nixie across the stage. She was hoping the girl was frightened by her performance it would be fun to see fear in the girl's eyes. The teacher then stood and nodded "Thank you, girls." Then she called the next students to audition for the roles. Salacia slithered off the stage, in a huff that the teacher hadn't picked her on the spot for the role. Salacia would have bet her lunch money that the little nixie girl would still be in a cheerful mood.

Aurelia was so in the moment that at the line, the growling and the Naga suddenly springing up genuinely made her shriek in momentary fear....until she remembered that this was the audition. By that point, however, she had stumbled backwards and lost her balance, falling onto her rump with a soft "Oomf!" She blinked a bit in confusion till she finally came out of it, smiling and giggling at how fun that had been. The Naga girl was good at being the wolf, like it came naturally to her to be scary. Aurelia stood up and did a little curtsy when they were thanked, skipping off the stage behind the Naga girl. Aurelia tilted her head curiously, seeing that she seemed to be in a bad mood for some reason...and that wasn't good. She decided she'd go try to cheer her up, skipping quicker to catch up. "Hey! You were so good as the wolf; I thought you were really gonna eat me!" She smiled at her, meaning what she said; the girl was good. "There's a lot of people to choose from; I can't wait to see the casting list when it's up! I bet you probably got the wolf part for sure." She did a little happy twirl in place, genuinely excited to see how everyone did.

Salacia was catty and clip when she said "You were terrible, you will never get picked." She giggled in a dark tone, as she moved further from the nixie girl, then turned to see if she would cry. Salacia wouldn't say thank you for the compliment, she just wanted to hurt to nixie girl. She hadn't bothered to give the girl her name, and likely wouldn't. Salaica had no doubt she would get a part in the play, she always believed she was better than the other students, and that likely wouldn't change anytime soon. Salacia grinned "I could always bite you." She said flashing her naga flangs at the nixie girl.

Aurelia was all smiles....but then stopped suddenly and blinked, looking quite stunned. The tone in her voice and the things she said; the nixie felt something she hadn't really felt before. She felt...bad. What was said had actually stung but she did try to turn it up towards the positive. "Well, I might not because there were so many people there, but I bet they'll still pick someone good." She tried to smile still but it wasn't quite as vibrant as before. If anything, it was cautious. The naga had moved further from her but when she saw her turn around and flash her fangs at her with the offer to bite her, Aurelia bit her lip a little and looked off to the side. "Um....nah, that's ok. I can tell your fangs nice and sharp and would hurt a lot. They were really convincing when you were reading the wolf's part." She laughed a little, nervously at that. For the first time in her life, Aurelia was feeling uncomfortable around someone.

Salacia laughed in a dark merry tone as she slithered off, giving the nixie no comfort what so ever. Salacia was happy, she had killed a little piece of the bright sunny perkiness, she still wished she had been able to make the girl cry what a shame. Oh well, perhaps her next victim would cry. Salacia moved off paying little heed to the nixie girl, treating her now like a peasant bellow Salacia's rule. Though to be fair in Salacia's mind everyone was bellow her already and always.

Aurelia had no words; none. For the first time, the usually cheery nixie was speechless and felt hurt. She had never encountered this before or anyone like the naga. She usually got along with everyone so well. What happened to make this girl so mean to her? Was it something she said or did? She didn't think so. Aurelia would be stewing over this for quite a while but for now she had to deal with her current feelings.....which were awful. Frills, tail and head all hung low as she made her way out of the theater. The play suddenly didn't feel so important now.
