Having listened to the audiobooks he had purchased last time, Shun had returned to the Bibliophile to pick up a couple new titles. He could really use the distractions. Quietly, he entered the shop and made his way over to where they were kept, having remembered from the last time he was here (unless Algernon had decided to move things around since then.)

“Hi! Welcome to Bibliophile!” Zac said with a forced chipper voice that broke when he realized it was someone else from the Ball. “Detective.” He said with a differential nod. “How are you, did…you get out alright?” He hesitated and then frowned slightly remembering what Thorne had said. “…Can I help you find anything today?”

Turning as he heard the voice addressing him, Shun nodded curtly towards Zac once he saw who it was. "Zac," he greeted wearily, "I am in one piece. I see you managed to escape alright as well."He glanced back over to where the audiobooks were. "I am mostly here to pick up a couple new audiobooks. I am not particularly picky but perhaps you have a recommendation or two?"

“Coffee… or tea… if you need it, you sound tired.” “Other than that, if you tell me a few titles you’ve liked before, I can help you find others that will suit your taste?” He wrapped his arms across himself. “I talked to Thorne.” He added. “I guess… I missed a lot of what went down. Sorry I didn’t understand why you were being like that, you’re a detective so, it was extra strange in that moment.” He shrugged and shook his head slightly. "Welcome to Other Ashdown." He said somewhat sarcastically.

Shun tilted his head at Zac's offer, "Tea, I suppose. Though it likely will not do much. Sleep has not been kind to me."He tried not to let his exhaustion show, but it was difficult at times. "Mystery, thriller, nonfiction... Preferably not romance," he shrugged. Furrowing his brow, he regarded the younger man for a moment. "I take it you are referring to the end of the night, when Melany had fallen?"

Zac sighed and nodded. “Yeah… “ He affirmed quietly. “I’ll brew it strong, if you don’t mind chai it comes out well if I mix it with one other, and for an extra kick I can add some Matcha, even it out with cream.” He worried at his lower lip and then reached to the shelf and pulled down an audio book titled “Cabinet of Curiosities” - “It’s part of a series, sort of a Sherlock style detective, clues left but your perspective as a reader makes it harder to put the pieces together. It’s part of a series. Have you read the Red Herring Mysteries?” Never would he not recommend those books, they were good, and the writer ran the shop so…

"That sounds fine... thank you."Shun listened to the suggestion and nodded lightly in turn. That seemed good enough, he supposed. "I have not, actually. Algernon writes those, correct?" he asked, "I suppose I could give one a try, assuming he has some titles in audio format as well."

"If I remember right, he does, I'll dig you up the first one If you'd like. I mean, they have the Show and everything too so... I don't think I'm mis-remembering." He scooped out tea into the brew machine and then loaded extra in of different containers of tea setting it to steep while he fished in a plastic bag for a ceramic bowl and a wooden looking whisk. "You're ok with Matcha, right? I have honey or sugar for sweetening depending on what you want, and there is creamer which is nice in this blend... I'll warm it up if you want it."

"Please do."The book series certainly was popular enough, and quite frankly it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. While he was looking over what else was on the shelf, he paused and looked back towards Zac. "Matcha is fine. I will hold on the cream, though."Taking in a deep breath, he folded his arms and closed his eyes for a few moments. "Do you know if there are any fetches still out there?" he asked.

Zac barely surprised a shudder at the idea that there were more out there. “I want to say God I hope not… but.” He mixed the matcha carefully before adding it to the rest. “Here…try this, let me know if you want it sweetened.” He said holding out an oversized mug, tinted a deep green from the matcha mixed into the chai after brewing. “But, regarding the fetches, for all I know there are. I mean, We didn’t even notice them when they first appeared. That bothers me, almost as much as… as Adoelle.” He bit his lip and sighed. “Oh….right, first book.” He scanned the shelves for the first in the Red Herring series.

Shun grunted lowly, not wanting to admit it. But Zac was right. He took the mug from him and nodded in appreciation. Carefully, he took a sip from it. "There has to be some way of telling. Nothing is completely foolproof. But... yes. They were convincing. Too convincing."

“If there is, I just…I don’t know it, not yet. If I find something I’ll tell Dad, and… by extension you. I have no idea what we’re going to do if you two get abducted though, that would just be…” He shuddered. “I’m looking into some other things, if the Library in Other Ashdown lets me, I’ll look there. If not then um… I planned to go see Heliodora again at some point too.”

The detective fell silent for a bit as he drank his tea. He didn't say it, but he didn't think things would change all too much if he got abducted. There was a small bitter feeling in the back of his head, wondering if a fetch would be better at all of this than himself. "The library seems to hold a lot of answers... I need to visit that sometime, myself..." he murmured. And he still needed to see Heliodora as well. "I hear it is difficult to enter the library, however."

“It… it seems to have a mind of its own.” He confirmed. “… It can provide answers, but it does seem to provide more questions[/] he admitted.
“And, on top of that it’s never facts per say, it’s all memories, so if I had to be totally honest I have to wonder if they are, like, pure recollections of the events, or if they can be changed by time like actual memories. That said, I’m not sure we have a better resource unless Sunny is feeling pretty generous, or Heliodora knows anything.”

Shun lightly frowned, not particularly liking the fact that what was within the library were memories. As mentioned, memories could shift with time. Memories were faulty things. Perhaps the library wasn't as reliable as a source as he had hoped it would be. "That is... unfortunate. It makes me wonder if we can even get any true facts out of... anything or anyone. "There was no physical evidence that he could examine or parse through. Everything was testimony. "Why do you think anyone who knows anything about any of this tends to be cryptic about what they actually tell us?"
