Apparently though the boy was running fast enough though that he landed hard and started to scream. Mel was torn between helping and not, he was about to go over and try to cheer the kid up with a joke or something when his mom came running. She apparently didn’t appreciate the guardian cat and started to freak out as well. Merowing at the lady didn’t seem to help any, she actually seemed to be more scared now than before, screeching about wild animals and everything. As if Mel was anything more than a perfectly nice cat! Insulted the large savannah cat turned on his paws and sauntered off into the brush, his tail twitching in annoyance. To think, he a protector would hurt a silly child! It was just insulting.
He was muttering under his breath when something gray and small basically ran right under his nose. Forgetting where he was, and the mental orders to keep quiet, Mel shouted, “SQUIRREL!” and gave chase, bursting from the undergrowth in hot pursuit of the furry rodent.
