The squeal of metal filled the park as Hydra swung her legs back and forth to push the swing higher and higher.
Black gloved fingers were wrapped tightly along the chains as though she was holding on for dear life. Her expression was one of concentration, teal eyes watching the ground slip out of her vision as she reached the peak of each swing only to come back in a rush as gravity tugged her back down and then further. Long locks of turquoise fluttered with the rush of wind from every push and pull and the corrupt vaguely wondered if it would get caught by her heels when she decided to slow down.
Frankly, she still couldn't wrap her head around why the forces of magic decided that her hair needed to grow like six inches every time she was Hydra instead of Rory.
As she neared the peak of her next swing she contemplated her options and let go of the chains, pushing herself forward instead to leap off the swing. Her landing was not as graceful as she would have liked, heels stumbling when they hit concrete instead of the sand that lined the swing set's area.
There was a tingling on the edge of her senses and she squinted until she caught the outline of something, someone else. "Hey!" She called, hoping she sounded more threatening than she looked.

Sneaking was not necessarily Adria's forte; he had a bit of experience trying to avoid Negaverse agents but he wasn't very good at it. Still, he hadn't had the worst experience with them as of late and he had hoped that meant that there wasn't so much of a reason to fear them.
But, he was still shaken from the whole Invasion; some run-ins with the agents since then had gone better than others but it still left him on edge.
He didn't have time to get a good look at exactly who was over there on the swing set; he'd debated for a moment between approaching them and walking away when he heard her sharp, fairly intimidating call.
He stiffened and figured maybe he should have moved a little quicker. Instead, he swallowed the lump in his throat and called back a far less threatening, "Yeah?"

She shook out her legs, trying to abate the tingling that spread through them as a result of her harsher landing and she shoved her long hair back over her shoulder before stomping forward. There was a flutter of pride that passed through her as the senshi froze and replied hesitantly.
She did sound intimidating! Score!
"What are you doing?" She asked as she crossed the playground until Adria was less of a silhouette and more of an actual person. Teal eyes squinted slightly as she took in the colors of his uniform, frowning when she realized there was definitely more white than black.
Ah! A bad guy!
"Who are you?" She demanded with a stern look and her arms crossing over her chest.

Adria scanned the area, looking for a quick escape if he needed one. With her approaching, he didn’t feel like he had the luxury of being able to focus on anything except exactly whatever it was she was doing.
“Ah...Adria. I’m Adria, and I was...just...walking?”
There was a certain level of suspicion in his voice that he seemed to realize after he’d spoken and hastily attempted to correct. “I mean, I was going through the park, to see if anyone was in trouble. To see if I could help. But you were...on the playground. Can you get in trouble for that, or...is the Negaverse going to get mad that you weren’t working? Or…”
His voice trailed off for a moment and then he blurted, “Who are you and what are you doing?”

Hydra balled her hands into fists and pressed them against her hips hoping that she looked fierce despite her obvious youth and smaller size. From the look on her face, it was clear that she didn't believe a word he was saying.
"Adria what?" She demanded, though she didn't know what she was asking for exactly. She figured if she pretended to be bad a** and tough, he'd start giving her answers. That's what they did in the movies right?
"The playground is good place to watch for things, trouble," she huffed, annoyed that he tried to question her place and her duties. She was learning yeah, but how date he be able to tell! "What would you know anyway? There's no trouble here except for you." She declared pointing her index finger at him.
"I'm Sailor Hydra and I'm here to stop you from being problematic!"

Adria stared, for a long moment. He wasn’t much taller than her, but he still stared down her pointed finger and then looked into her eyes.
“...What?” he asked after a moment of confused silence.
After another second he asked, “I think, maybe, you have things a little mixed up. I’m not causing any trouble. Or being problematic. I thought you were the one who comes from the group that tries to cause trouble and hurt people, anyway?”
His lips pursed and he seemed a vaguely exasperated--and on edge. It was clear that he was taking her demeanor very seriously; she looked ready to attack, and tiny or not, he had no idea what she was capable of.

Hydra liked the idea that maybe this guy found her intimidating. Considering her small stature, it was hard for her to be taken seriously sometimes, so this - this was great. Amazing even. "You heard me. Did I stutter?" She snapped all sassy like, even going far enough to toss some of her too long hair over a shoulder.
"I think you have things mixed up, Adria," she shot back, making it a point to draw out his name. "S'not my fault you're so misinformed." General Aurostibite had told her that those squeaky clean energy sources were the bad guys and she believed him. Besides, pops always told her to watch out for those sailor suits after the news ran footage of them.
That's what Adria was wasn't he?
Taking a few steps back, to give her just enough space in case he tried to interrupt, Hydra furrowed her brow and concentrated. "Hydra strike!" She called, arms lifting as the ground rumbled beneath her feet.

Hydra Strike
Hydra spreads her arms open and there is a low rumbling/vibration beneath her feet and water rises before her reaching a height of 8ft pushing forward and slamming down on her opponent. Hydra must allow time for the wave to rise before she releases it otherwise it will not be as effective. It takes approximately 20 seconds for the wave to reach full height.
If they are within 5ft of her, they will experience mild vibrations. If hit, the person feels as though they drenched in water for at least one minute. The wave does not discriminate between allies and enemies, everyone is collateral damage.
Usage: 3 Mechanics: Hydra summons the wave in one post, attacks in the next. She can be interrupted in the middle of summoning and either the wave fails completely or is released with less potency.

Adria held out a hand like he meant to shush her, or soothe her anger enough to try and compel her to not attack him; instead, he wound up frozen and transfixed by the wave she had summoned.
Adria was not experienced enough in battle to know that freezing up was not a good idea--nor did he know how to break the spell. He went rigid and stared in rapt fascination as the wave began to form, and it was only when it was a few seconds too late that he managed to shake his head and try to stumble back.
He barely managed to get his arms up before the wave crashed into him. The wave itself didn’t feel like it hurt; it was a massive pressure that crashed into him and sent him flying backwards. Most of the pain happened when he hurt his tailbone crashing into the ground beneath him. He had swallowed a mouthful of water and wound up coughing when the water washed over him, spitting up a bit. His eyes stung and he tried to simultaneously rub at them and keep Hydra within his line of vision.
He didn’t have any witty comebacks, and there was a childish part of him that wanted an eye for an eye. He was totally soaked and it felt like it took twice as much energy just to try and move. Exasperated, he just exhaled sharply and sputtered for a few seconds. “Well, I didn’t need a bath, but thanks anyway!”
He didn’t sound very grateful and once more tried to push himself up.
He had magic, too, but his wasn’t amazing. His was a good distraction, but he didn’t think he had enough air to run if he used it.
Not yet, at least. He could manage it soon, he just needed to buy a few seconds to catch his breath and prepare himself.

It always took a lot more concentration than Hydra expected, summoning her wave. There was, however, a swirl of pride in her chest as it rose to it's full height and she had to take a moment to appreciate the impressiveness of it. It was nearly twice her size after all.
Satisfaction blossomed in her bosom when she released it, hands shoving the wave forward, as she watched it crash over Adria. Last time, it had hit a trashcan rather than her intended target and watching as the senshi was thrown backward was fascinating.
Hydra couldn't keep from grinning.
"You sure about that?" She called after, stomping forward with her long hair whipping back impressively. "Because you reek and I don't think there's any amount of baths that can scrub you clean." Hydra shot back, equally proud of her comebacks as she was of her magic.
Unfortunately, Adria had been thrown further back than she expected and it was taking longer to get to him than she liked.

With Hydra fast approaching, Adria realized he didn’t have a lot of time to act. It was now or never, and he didn't think he could sit here and let her just beat on him.
He wasn’t a fighter by a long shot, but he wasn’t going to lay there and drown.
The better option, when in doubt, was to run.
Adria couldn’t risk that she’d be faster than him, so he released his magic:”Adria Setting Sun!”
A glowing orb appeared suddenly in his hand; he drew his arm back and hurled it towards Hydra. He didn’t aim to hit her--and didn’t want to. He just wanted her to be distracted while he took off in the other direction, and his magic had the ability to be particularly distracting. The orb didn’t do much but hover over the ground and glow; it seemed calming and it felt like it was trying to lull those around it into a sense of security and peace.
Adria wanted to stare at it, as it was in his nature to want to admire beautiful things, but he took the opportunity to scramble to his feet. He blurted, in a single breath, “I’m sorry, please don’t hate me. Also please don’t follow me, or attack me again, and maybe next time we can talk.”
He didn’t know if she’d be distracted, or if she’d want to listen to him, but as soon as the words were out of his mouth he bolted towards the treeline at full speed.
A puddle of water trailed after him.
Quote:
Adria summons a baseball sized glowing orb into his hand and is capable of throwing it up to ten feet away. Once thrown, the orb, mimicking a sun, will begin to set. Everyone within a five foot radius of the orb will feel a peaceful warmth wash over them; they will feel compelled to watch the orb set. It is relaxing but not threatening; the orb can do no damage to anyone who comes in contact with it nor the ground beneath it. The attack is primarily distraction and stronger willed individuals can break free of its spell. It will last for thirty seconds and can be used three times per battle.

There was a swell of pride that blossomed in her chest when she saw her villain scrambling to escape. General Aurostibite and Obsidian wold be proud of her, she was certain. Maybe Bloodstone and Reinterite would be too, they were so much better at this than her but -
She was winning this battle...right?
Oh, how Hydra hoped that she did if only because then she had a good story to tell. She'd defended the park, scared off a bad guy! That was impressive Hydra was certain.
"Hey!" The corrupt called after Adria as he threw something at her. Immediately her arms flew up to brace herself and protect her face but nothing hit her. Instead, there was a very pretty sight before her eyes and without thought, Hydra's stepped had slowed and her brow furrowed.
Now why was it taking all of her attention. "Hey!" She shouted, quieter this time as she tried to crane her head around the orb. "Come back - we're not..."

Adria was almost out of earshot when he heard her, and it was just instinctive to call back one last “Sorry!” before he disappeared into the forest.
And he was--for more than he could say.
Running felt like an act of cowardice, but it was all he could think to do. His magic wasn’t as powerful as hers, and he couldn’t fight her with words.
...And he was totally soaked.
Maybe the next time they ran into each other he wouldn’t leave running, but for now…
It just seemed like the best option--for both of them.
