 Kaimana was at the park with his parents, he looked up watching the leaves falling from the trees in a riot of colors. It was so pretty. Today Kai was in the park for soccer practice, the coach paired Kaimana up with another freshling named Conley. Kai was assigned to goalie position that day, he smiled and took a deep breath. His hair was down in a ponytail, rather that being pulled up on his head. Kai pulled on his soccer gloves and got ready to attempt to catch the first ball that Conley was supposed to kick into the net. Kai had himself in a really bad position, he didn't really notice that his hands were tucked in tight to his body, allowing for a lot of room to kick the ball into the net. Kaimana was a good sport though, so if the other freshling Conley beat him in practice, Kai wouldn't be upset.

Conley loved soccer, more than anything else really. he was usually more of a shy character, but all of that tended to fade away in the middle of a game. As such most of his friends tended to be his soccer buddies as well. It might be about time he tried to make friend outside of soccer, but for now he still had practice to attend. He'd think about his small group of friends later.
They were working on kicking and blocking today, in teams of two the were each assigned the position of goalie or striker. Today he was the striker and his partner, Kaimana was the goalie. It being the beginning of practice they were both still warming up. He just barely managed to kick a ball into the goal, being the first to succeed. "I'm sure you'll get me next time!" Conley cheer and waited for the ball to be tossed back his way.

Kaimana smiled brightly at the friendly grimm it was nice to be playing with a good sport, it was a downer to have to play with someone who mocked a failed attempt and danced around celebrating their victory while the other play stood by feeling bad. "Thanks." Kaimana said cheerfully. "I'm Kaimana by the way." Kai laughed clearly he wasn't very good at soccer but he was still having fun. He positioned himself a little bit better, this time, still not quite right. So Kai would likely miss catching the ball once again. Kaimana wasn't annoyed by his lack of soccer skills, he knew what he was really good at. Everything else was about having fun. At this rate Conley was likely going to smoke him at this game but oh well.

It seemed both of them were having a bit of a rough start to their practice. Maybe Conley should have stretched a little bit more before starting practice that day. He still felt a little sore, but hopefully after a little more running around he could get a bit better. He juggled the ball with his feet, getting close to the goal and watching Kaimana carefully. He thought he saw an opening and kicked the ball. He hit it awkwardly with the tip of his toes however, and the ball bounced of the corner of the net and back toward the field behind them.
"Oops...." He went after the ball.

Kai laughed off the attempt in a jovial manner, and then said "I guess we are both still learning." The ball didn't go into the net that time, so Kaimana walked out of the goal area and went to grab the ball. Then he kicked it back to Conley and stood trying to get into the right position this time so he could block the ball for once in this practice. Kaimana was finally able to figure out how to place his arms and legs so that he could catch the ball, when it came flying at him. Kai smiled and said "Better luck next time." Warmly, before kicking the ball back to Conley so he could try to score a goal again.

"Good one!" Conley cheered on his partner. This wasn't a competition after all, just practice for the both of them. He certainly didn't want to see either one of them dominating over the other too bad. It wouldn't be fun that way and it could certainly crush some spirits. he waited for the ball to be tossed back his way and juggled it around a little bit, trying to make Kaimana guess where he'd be kicking the ball next. He aimed at one of the corner and kicked with all of his might. he couldn't held but give a little cheer when it went it. Okay, he was a team player. But it was still fun to score a goal.

Kaimana smiled and said. "You too, that was a great kick." Kai said cheerfully. Kaimana smiled and cheered his team mate's success each time he scored a goal. After all, they were practising togeather as a team, not trying to beat one another. Kaimana ended up leaving himself open for the ball too easily make it into the net once again. Still, he wasn't upset, he was still learning and so was Conley. Not to mention after practice they could have juice and ice pops for a treat!! Kai was really looking to that part of practice it was his favorite part. Kaimana smiled brightly and asked Conley "Do you want to sit with me for snack after practice."

Conley had to admit he was rather on top of his game today. It had just taken him a little bit of warming up for him to get started. Or maybe Kaimana was just letting him have his way with the ball. The other kid oculd have had a bad night's rest as well. Conley didn't really like playing the goalie all that much himself either. He'd much rather be the one kicking the ball and scoring points than guarding the net for his team. He managed to kick another one into the net with a smile on his face. When the other kid invited him to eat their snacks together later his tail started wagging happily behind him.
"I'd really like that!"

Kai smiled as Conley kicked another goal, then he left the net and took off his gloves, it was still pretty warm and Kaimana was certainly ready for a cool yummy snack. He imagined since Conley was a grimm with all that fur he would too. Kai being part demon, part nixie and part geist was looking forward to going swimming with his mommy later that day. Kaimana smiled "Great practice, let's go get some snack and cool down." Kai looked around as other freshlings started to wrap up and get ready for their cool down snack too. Kai clearly wasn't very good at soccer, but that was ok.

Seemed like it was time to wrap things up. It was really hot outside and the fur covering his arms and legs was definitely making him hot. A nice break in some shade with water would help him wonders though. her juggled the ball on his way over to where the snacks and drinks were waiting and then put it away in the net with all of the other balls.
"If you ever want to practice anytime, just let me know. I could always be the goalie next time!" Conley smiled and picked out his favorite of the snacks offered. He sat down with Kaimana and chatted about what they'd be doing after practice. His plans were...well probably more practice. Haha.
