It was late at night and for some reason, Rorie was actually awake rather than asleep, as was usual. The moon was sending a fluttering ray of light at his eyes and he couldn't help but stare at it. It wasn't often that he could gaze at the moon, and there was something rather hypnotic about it. Anymore getting a chance at some quiet had become rather rare since he met his roommate, but it was kind of strange... he was actually getting used to her interruptions, and even more strangely, he was actually beginning to enjoy it.

He wasn't quite sure when this change happened. At first, he was rather against it, against anything, ruining his quiet time. Sleeping was all that had mattered to him. He wasn't even sure he wanted to like her, though he did his best to not be mean, but somewhere along the line she slowly became a part of his life. Maybe it was being able to spend time with her mother that helped change him, being a part of a unit when he had spent so much time alone at the Academy, and then suddenly he wasn't alone anymore. It wasn't that his parents didn't love him, he knew they did, but they were always so busy with work, and being in a place without much contact with people played a toll on you, but somehow... Nilima had opened him up, maybe she hadn't even realized how much she had changed him?

It was still strange for him to think about, but he slowly began to think that maybe there was more to him than just being a recluse. That there was more to life than sleeping his days away. Maybe he could actually make something of himself if she believed in him so much. Well, he could try at least. Even his parents were telling him how he had changed, how he seemed happier, was he really that sad before? He did remember being sad, but he also knew that he had never felt like he belonged anywhere, not even when he lived with his parents and he really enjoyed all the time he got to spend with Nilima and Lumi.

It was almost time to move on to Junior classes. He wasn't sure what the future held for him, he could only hope that the two of them would remain friends and that he wouldn't lose her like he had lost so many other friends in his life. He didn't want her to disappear from his life, but even if she did, he knew he would be better for having met her. He didn't think he'd ever quite lose his love for sleeping, but she made him see that there was so much more to life, so much more to live for, there were things he could enjoy and pursue in his life. And maybe for the first time he could see the world for what it was, something not to dread, but something to be happy about.

He rolled over in his bed as a yawn lifted from his lips. This was much heavier thinking than he was ever used to, and it was making him rather tired. Maybe he should just go back to sleep, but this time... he could dream about better things waiting for him when he woke up.
