Goretti had powered up only twice since he had visited his homeworld, and neither time had he actually run into anyone. On the plus side, no bad guys. But that also meant that he hadn’t run into anyone who could tell him about homeworlds or the weird things he’d seen on his. He had already planned when he was going to take his next trip up to his homeworld, based on his father’s schedule--and now he was just waiting. He was doing research on trees, trying to will himself to dream about the asteroid, but so far he’d just had dreams of a shoe thief and cotton candy flavored snow.
Interesting, but not what he wanted.
He was out tonight when he felt the energy signature of an eternal senshi and hope for answers burned in him. He trotted towards the energy signature and froze when he realized it was Lenka.
On one hand, Lenka, who he loved spending time with, and who knew plenty and could help him.
On the other hand, Lenka, and here he was not even her rank and still making a fool of himself.
….He couldn't help himself and waved towards her, calling out, “Hey, Lenka!”

Lenka had gotten out of practice with her training. She used to be so diligent, making her own training ritual on the playground, trying to get stronger…and when she had become a real senshi…well she was as strong as she was going to be, right? What was the point of continuing? But…she had grown lazy now. She had grown lazy and it was time to get back into the game. Back into some sort of game. Right now it was just stretching that she was working on, but stretching allowed for more movement, and more movement was important too.
Drawing in a deep breath, Lenka raised her hands towards the sky, she felt another eternal senshi near her, but honestly…she didn’t really care that much about them, so she ignored it.
Or at least she did until they called her name. Until she heard Goretti’s voice coming from where the feeling of the eternal was.
She whipped her head around and stared, mouth open in surprise. “Oh! Goretti! You did it! Julienne told me that she made you an eternal, but you’re not a chibi anymore! Oh that’s so awesome!”
The senshi of watermelons ran towards her friend, throwing her arms around him, laughing loudly and squeezing the other. “Now we can really kick a**!”

Goretti was confused, to say the least. He had thoughts--most of which were 'I have no idea what Lenka is saying' but those were flung from his head when she threw her arms around him and hugged her. He returned it immediately and laughed. "Yeah," he said, but faltered greatly.
"I worked really hard to get to an Eternal, but when Julienne upgraded me I was still just a Chibi. Uh, I was...actually working to change that but..."
He laughed awkwardly and pulled away so he could look down at his outfit. He hadn't seen his Chibi Eternal outfit enough to remember what it looked like. "...I hadn't...realized I had," he added a second later. He seemed dumbfounded and couldn't even hide it.
"Uh. So. Uh. I don't...quite understand. But I went to my Homeworld!"
He started tugging at his tunic cautiously, wondering what dark sorcery this must have been. Was Lenka just mistaken? He trusted her judgement, of course, but...he hadn't changed...right?

“Well clearly you worked hard enough and managed to change it…you went up to Goretti? And you didn’t take me? You’ll take me next time, right?” Lenka felt…almost jealous. He had been there when she was granted the gift of being no longer a chibi…yet she had been left behind. It was an uncomfortable feeling, and perhaps it was due to the fact she was indeed a middle aged teenager that she was feeling like this…now her and Goretti were on equal footing…and that made her sad as well…
What if he didn’t need her anymore?
For so long she had been his source of knowledge and strength and…and now he had gone and done this great thing without her…and…
Well s**t.
“I’m really excited for you though! This is so cool, we’re stronger together, stronger then the Negaverse can possibly ever understand…it’s going to be amazing. You and I are going to need to start going out more often again, okay? We need to start training…with you by my side…we can put a much better dent in them! Maybe with you we can win the war for real!”
He still needed her…right?

Goretti nodded eagerly but still seemed confused. "...Yeah, totally, I just..."
Finally, he seemed lost and looked up at her pathetically. "...I don't know how this happened," he said after a moment, tugging at his shirt.
"Juilenne upgraded me, but I was still a chibi. So I was really desperate and I told her I was going to go up to my homeworld and I did--and it was so neat, but it was really creepy! It was all dark, and the trees glow, and I got lost in a forest and there's a lot of glue. And there was this weird building thing, and a key! I glued a key back together! And opened a door! Oh, but then I came back home. So I...I actually...didn't know I wasn't a chibi," he said uncertainly, looking up at her questioningly as if to ensure she was telling him what he thought she was telling him.
"...So...I...I have no idea what happened, I don't think I did anything special. But--But, I want to show you my homeworld! I want to go back in a few days, do you want to come too?"

“Well…you’re not a chibi anymore. You feel just as strong as I do…and I should feel just as strong as you do, not like I did before, right? And I really want to see your homeworld too! I mean, I’ve been to mine a bunch of times, not recently but…you know. We should go up and have a picnic up there one day…it can be a date. You wanna?”
Her cheeks grew warm when she really realized what she had said and she tried to play it cool and not mention it again, but her brown eyes flickered to his and she hoped he would say yes.
…for…
Reasons.
“Anyway…yeah. Practice and stuff. Get stronger. Down with the Negaverse and all that jazz…”

Goretti's lips were pursed like he was going to respond to what she was saying--but then she said that word and he wound up just a bit flustered.
She had said date.
"Y-yeah," he managed to sputter out, ears and cheeks and nose a little red. The smile on his face grew when the words registered. "I'd like that a lot--a picnic. I think yours would be much nicer for that--I mean, mine's all nice with it's lightning! But all my trees...kinda look sick. And they're getting glue all over the place, so we might lose the tablecloth if we tried to eat at my wonder. But--Oh, Lenka, I can't wait to show you! I want to clean it all up, I want to make it beautiful! I had a vision while I was up there, it was amazing!"
He had been talking so much that he almost seemed to forget to breath and had to suck in a great breath. "In the vision all the trees were healthy! It was the coolest thing, but right now they're all fat and dripping glue out of them. I'm trying to figure out how to help them--if I can. But--I really want you to come up with me! When I was there, all I could think about was bringing you up there!"

“Then we’ll go on a picnic up on Lenka, and check out your homeworld afterwards!” The senshi grinned, quite pleased that he had wanted to show her these things…it made her feel better. Less jealous and less upset. “Aren’t the visions you get kind of amazing? That must have been from before…when Goretti was better, before it got…well, before. My visions have been about me…or another Lenka, she has the same fuku as I did…but when I was a super senshi, and she has bright orange hair with a bunch of braids…I don’t know. It’s kind of cool, and kind of freaky too!”
Lenka reached over and took Goretti’s hand, watching him. “I’m sure that we can make it pretty again, I’m sure we can find something that can fix your trees! I’m sure of it!”
And she was…because what couldn’t they do together? They were the future. They could do anything.

"I don't know!" Goretti exclaimed; he didn't have any idea how to accurately describe the visions he'd gotten. "'They weren't of anything...I mean, I saw my gloves, and a lot of running, but it's hard to say. If that was me, I sure was running a lot. But I seemed to know where I was going? I was able to follow the same trail. I didn't really get a good look at the outfit, or me, but...I got the impression that whoever it was, they were in a hurry. I found this little bunker--and it's got a box in it! But I can't open it, or move it! Oh, but!"
He looked down and hastily tugged at the key dangling from his sash with his free hand. "I found this cool key! It opened the door after I glued it together. I want to go look for more buildings but I didn't want dad to notice me missing. You know how he gets," he laughed; Goretti was just absolutely beaming.
He gave her hand a squeeze, part reassuring, part excitement and...part something else, that he wasn't going to say or think about and ruin this moment.
"If anyone can do anything, I know you can. So I'm going to work hard, because I...don't want to let you down."

Lenka just beamed. “Well…that’s still super cool! You found a key and you opened a door…? I want to hang out with you up there…we’ll have to plan a trip, a nice long one…we can say we’re going to the movies and to lunch or something, give ourselves a few hours…I mean, mom still doesn’t want me to date anyone until I’m sixteen, but she does like you, and I know she knows that we’re pretty much boyfriend and girlfriend, right?”
It was so much easier calling him this now…he was on her level. He wasn’t a chibi and wasn’t beneath her…so that was good.
Besides…he never said it, so she clearly had to. She clearly had to do anything.
“Anyway, I figure that can buy us at least most of the day if we leave early, I’ll just pack a watch in my bag and bring it up with us, no big deal! We got this.”
She liked it when he squeezed her hand, it made her feel warm inside…and she liked that. Goretti was one of the best people she had ever met…and she really, really liked him. Like…liked him liked him…
And if he wanted her to be his girlfriend. This was clearly the perfect time to say so…since she had already said so.

There were stars in Goretti's eyes and a smile that might have been called stupid if there wasn't so much heart in it.
Lenka had called them basically boyfriend and girlfriend.
He nodded, smile frozen in place. "W-Well," he said, trying to regain some cool. "That sounds like a good plan. But--uhm, we don't have to tell your mom that there's anything, like, serious--I don't want her to not like me! But you'll have to lie to her because I'm not very good at it," he confessed guiltily.
"I can probably get away with telling my dad that we're going to hang out--he's a lot less worried about what we do than I think your mom is. He's just happy that I've got a friend, and he knows we won't get into too much trouble. But that sounds like a great plan! And if we go during the day, Dad will be at work and can't be worried about where I am if he's working!"

“I want her to know the truth. It’s no big deal. She knows I’m going to be legally going out with you come January anyway…what’s a few months, right?”
Lenka returned his smile with one of her own and laughed, tucking some of her maroon hair behind an ear. “I’m…Yeah. This sounds really good. How about we shoot for next Saturday or something? I want…I really want to spend time with you.”
She pecked his cheek and grinned again, face growing pink. “Um….I should go now though…I’ll text you! Saturday, come to my place at noon, okay? Bring some food and I’ll bring some and we’ll have a great picnic up on Lenka!”
It would be fun. A picnic with her…boyfriend.
The senshi laughed, face growing redder and bolted away, unable to even face Goretti anymore, for fear of not seeming as cool as she knew she was. But damn was she ever proud of him.
…Boyfriend!

Goretti shrugged somewhat meekly at the idea of Lenka’s mother finding out; he was worried about disappointing her and had his mind wrapped around what he could do to make sure she liked him when Lenka started talking again.
His worries immediately washed away and a new smile dawned on his face. He nodded enthusiastically and was still floating on clouds when she ran off.
Because she had kissed him, on the cheek.
...And he had to go plan for Saturday, right now.
