((Xanthus, Deliah, Quinn, Terry, Lena, Mercy, Seung))

-----

Xanthus:

Well, it was the… second time he had ever tried to make a large scale dinner, and he was hoping this round would go better than the previous attempt. He’d certainly done his best to set up. Some things, like the corn on the cob, weren’t getting cooked until the guests got here (and he was sort of hoping he could talk a couple of them into helping him shuck it and pick off the ‘strings’. It was starting to be a good time to get it fresh, and he’d gone with that over an enormous batch of cornbread. The slow cooker (and it’s second, borrowed mate) were filling the kitchen with the complex smell of chicken breasts cooking in an aromatic sauce thick with honey and vinegar and spices, and he’d set in an supply of drinks, red and white wine, and a pack of beer, and guests had been left the option of bringing their own drinks or dessert items to go with everything, which didn’t stop the Knight of Mars from entirely overthinking the option to put in some frozen rolls.

Terry:
When Xanthus had invited him over to the dinner with the others, he had been sure to ask what they were having so he could pick out a dessert that worked with the meal. Which is why when Terry showed up at the other Knight’s house he had a bag with a couple apple pies along with a few different drink options such as sweet tea. He knocked on the front door while glancing around to see if it looked like he was the first one here so far and when it did he just shrugged it off. He could always see if the other man needed help cooking since he was earlish.

~~

Delilah:
To be honest, Delilah was thrilled to get the message from Xanthus about dinner at his place, mind you a little worried on if he could cook or not but thrilled to be doing something social all the same. Things had been long and rough for the almost twenty year old so as she followed the map to his place, she couldn’t help but exhale and relax a bit. A meeting of ‘friends’. It was promising.

As she stepped up to the door, she noticed another already there. Blinking, the raven hair woman waved. “Good evening. Here for dinner as well?” Delilah had not brought dessert but instead, in her bag was a gift of tea for after dinner. She had a nice collection to share after all. “I’m Delilah.” She offered a hand out to the male.
---

Xanthus:
Summoned by the knock on the door, Xan made his way to the front door and swung it open, giving it a moment to let the two arrivals finish their introductions, but grinning ear to ear. If only two people showed he’d drastically overcooked, but hell, it was a better showing than last time.

“Hey, you made it! Great! C’mon in!” He beckoned for them to step inside, before even taking note of the fact they’d actually done as prompted and brought food. Double win for the situation. “Is that pie? Oh even better. Hopefully everything’s ok, the chicken’s going to be done soon but I could use a pair of hands if someone’s free to help me strip some Corn and clean it off. I mean if you want.”

---

Quinn:
When the sandy haired young man had received the note about the dinner he balked at first. He wasn’t sure if he owed Xan an apology from the few months that were pretty much a haze of booze, anger, and grief. It was the knowledge that he needed to man up that had led him to the his current spot, standing in front of the fellow knight’s door with flowers and a bag full of sides like potato salad, ringing the bell with his elbow.

Quinn wasn’t even sure who else was coming. A part of him dreaded seeing Delilah, if she was invited, another part jumped at the idea of seeing her. Even after four months their break up smarted but after a few months lost in a bottle Quinn realized that he needed to move on, he needed to work through the anger and pain constructively. Lucky for him, he had the perfect place to do it… out of country at one of his father’s subsidiaries where he was kept so busy the only time he could think about anything other than work was when he was dozing off to sleep.

He took a bracing breath, he was an adult… he wouldn’t ding-dong-ditch no matter how much he wanted to at that moment.
---

Delilah:
The smile on her face faltered a bit as the door opened and she turned to gaze and the big man. “Oh now I see the truth.” She smiled again, gazing back at Terry before she slipped past Xan and into the home. “You just needed help preparing things. Well, which way to the corn?”

Of course she would help. At least it wasn’t the cooking part. That she didn’t completely trust herself on but cleaning corn? She could do that!

Placing her bag down inside the door, she pulled out the assortment of teas in her lovely wooden box and followed her nose to find the kitchen. Just in case people wanted them. Let’s be honest...she feared the idea of bring store bought things and they didn’t want her cooking. Great for her...horrible for others as of late.

But as she walked, Delilah could have sworn she saw the outline and face of someone else arriving at the door. That made her stop in her tracks and look back towards it only for a heartbeat. How long had it been? Her mind had not stopped long enough to think about it or even consider he might come tonight.

Oh well. She was an adult...this would be fine...right?

Lena:
When Lena had gotten the invite for dinner, the woman had been amused. When she had read it more closely and realized it was for a group, she had needed to change her outfit plans. To be honest, she was curious if this was going to be a group of Xan’s friends or of Xan’s ‘friends’. At the rate he spoke about the magical world, she wasn’t sure how the line formed or if it even existed.

But since she was going to be meeting people who clearly knew him for the first time, Lena had made up her mind to be polite and only cause pain and suffering a little….less than normal. With wine, chocolate, strawberries, and whip cream in a separate bag, the woman realized she was following the an ashen haired man up to the door. He seemed...nervous? Interesting.

Gazing at the youth who, she guessed to be a bit younger than herself, Lena decided it was time to break the ice. “You know, walking into a house for dinner isn’t a death march.” She chuckled, red heels clicking against the sidewalk under her jeans. Best not to ask if she own flats. “Unless Xanthus is a worse cook than he leads us to believe.”
---

Xanthus:
“Well you don’t have to help with the corn but I’d appreciate it.” Xan fired back, with a grin and raised eyebrow at Deliah. “Corn’s over there, Corny-queen, I scored it at a farm stand so I’m hoping it’s pretty good. Try not to peck of off the cob before it goes in the pot and I’ll make sure the butter is melting after I get the door. You can give a rundown on what the tea options are when I get back if you’re up for it

He made a vaguely apologetic gesture and trotted back to get the door, grinning almost from ear to ear when he saw Lena.

“Lena! Quinn!” The second name might have been added in slightly hasty tone, as if to make sure Quinn did not think he was being overlooked in favor of the lovely lady, though Xan’s expression said probably quite enough about how happy he was to see her. “C’mon in. Make yourself at home. We’ve got the run of the place for the night, more or less. But please don’t let the cats out.”

---

Terry:
When a young woman joined him at the front door he gave her a smile and a nod. “Nice to meet you, I’m Terry, and yes I’m here for dinner. Ever have his cooking before?” He asked as he shook her hand in return. Terry then looked over when Xanthus opened the door to let them in, giving the other Knight an amused smile. “Yep, brought a few pies since I wasn’t sure how many would be here.” He said as he moved into the house and glanced around. “Sure, just let me know where to drop these off and I can help with the corn.”

Before he went very far from the door a couple others showed up and he gave Quinn a wave hello as well as a polite nod to the young woman that Xanthus was clearly happy to see.

---

Seung:

Seung hadn’t been surprised by the invitation, Xanthus had mentioned it when they’d run into each other not too far back. Thankful for the directions Seung had left his home early, in order to do some shopping so he had something to bring, and now was approaching the door. Coming up behind Quinn and an unfamiliar female figure who Xanthus was greeting rather enthusiastically.

“Quinn, good to see you.” Seung called out from behind the other two quests. He hadn’t known who else would be here, Xanthus hadn’t told him, but he had known others would be here so he’d decided to bring something with him for an untold number of people.

In a bag, from the grocery store, were several persimmons as well as two bunches of grapes. Fruits he figured were a good idea, it was something fresh, refreshing, and good for you. He hoped it was a good idea, and appreciated, as he stepped forward and held up the bag to show that he had come with a gift as well. “Fruits.”

-------

Quinn:

The sandy haired fellow nearly jumped when a voice spoke at his side, he was so wrapped in his own thoughts and what he would say that he was completely oblivious to the young woman who had joined him at the door. After clearing his throat he gave her a half smile, “Yes, well, I don't know how well he can cook but I kind of have some apologizing to do so…” He finished his sentence off with a shrug. Luckily he didn't have to explain himself because at that point Xan opened the door and enthusiastically greeted the woman.

As tempting as it was to make a snarky remark about his own tacked on lackluster greeting he bit his tongue. Instead he smiled and passed Xan the small bucket of summer flowers, the gerbera daisies bright and sunny, before gesturing to his bag full of potato, pasta, and egg salads. “Give the lady a flower while I get the sides in the fridge.” Even jaded about dating as he was Quinn could see the other knight was interested in Lena, and not just as a guest.

The young man spotted Terry inside and returned his wave just as a familiar voice greeted him from behind. He made his way just inside, out of the way, “Hey Seung.” Before making his way to the kitchen.

Mercy:
Mercy had gotten the invitation, and for the longest time had wondered if she was going to show up at all. Out of all of them, she was the youngest - this was a fact. She was sure they would all end up falling into conversations that would eventually exclude her, adult things. Granted, she was fairly adult for 15, but still, she was sure that in their eyes she was a child still. Even so, she’d told her parents she was going to a friend’s house for dinner and they did not complain, if anything it seemed to relieve some of the tension in her father’s shoulders. Ever since that night, even after she had apologized and gifted her father an apology teddy bear… things were still… raw.

She knew they would be for awhile, which was what had made Xanthus’ offer so appealing. She had dressed as best she could for the occasion without knowing the dress code. She had also taken the time to stop by a small corner store and pick up some sodas and a few more “age appropriate” snack options for herself and anyone else who happened to like Cheddar Cheese Popcorn.

It wasn’t like she… dragged her feet heading to Xan’s place. Not really. It was totally the fault of the bus schedule… It wasn’t like she let two of them go by or anything before finally getting on the last one and finishing the short trek to Xan’s place. She knocked lightly on the door, half hoping they were already making too much noise and she could just… Scoot over to Hafwen’s or something… Maybe call Nick and see if he was free to hang out or something… Chewing her lip she tried her best to not let her worry show. Xan had been cool… And Delilah would probably be there and… she took a deep breath, and just… let it go, and waited.
---

Xanthus
If Xanthus took any note of Quinn taking offense at his moment of tunnel vision regarding Lena, he was getting better at not showing it. “Uh, great, yeah…” He seemed at best a little confused by being assaulted by flowers, shrugging to Lena, and let people in, only to be interrupted again to let Mercy in, still awkwardly holding a bouquet of flowers. “Glad you could make it, c’mon in!” He added. She was a good kid, they were all more or less good kids, though it was, he admitted, nice not to feel like the oldest person in the room tonight, with Lena here. “You know most everyone I think… but you haven’t met Lena yet. Come grab a drink, make yourself at home, I’ve gotta start melting some butter and shredding the chicken.”

If nothing else he was glad he hadn’t gotten around to putting the rolls in. There were enough sides for a small army, which, arguably, they might as well be. It was definitely putting his organizational skills to the test, and the strain was making him worry that this might have been an … overly ambitious venture. Not as dangerous as entering the Rift to be sure, but never the less, stressful in its own way.

“Lena, feel free to ask questions… everyone here is… you know. Senshi or knights.”
---

Delilah:

Mei would have been amused about how fast Delilah made a dive for the kitchen to clean corn. Oh corn...how lovely you were without all that hair...and how good of a reason to avoid someone it should have been..until that person made their way into the kitchen as well and towards the fridge. Well, she would be the adult here…

“Evening Quinn. You are looking well.” Delilah only stole a glance at the man as she went back to cleaning the corn and dropping it into a bowl to be washed and cooked. It was a kinda easy lie. She had heard tales of what had been going on since the invasion and their break up. That upset her even more than he could imagine but Mercy had been right...she had her own life to live.

Speaking of Mercy…

“Missy! I know you are here! Get in here!”
---

Lena:
As the door open, green eyes caught Xanthus’ with a smile but quickly realized how not alone they were. Stepping inside, she was quick to find the fridge as that seemed to be where everyone else was going! So, waiting a second, the woman shoved her own bag in to keep the fruit and cream cool as she grabbed the wine and the chocolate. “Glasses?” She asked anyone who might know. Heaven help her as she took all this in.

Slipping up next to Xan, the woman just his age raised a brow. “Are all your friends quite a bit younger?” With a chuckle, she maneuvered out of the kitchen to leave some room for those cooking. No need to clutter an already tight space as she moved into what she could guess was the living room and watched the dynamics for all but a moment. There was some tension between a few...others seemed almost clueless. But it was who she gathered was the youngest in the room that really caught Lena’s eye.

Stopping Mercy before she could get to Delilah, Lena gave her a smile. “You have good taste. Model?”
---

Mercy:
The sudden descent into what amounted to total chaos was almost too much for the youngest guest at the party. She would be the first to admit (as much as she did try to hide it) that her nerves were still frayed and that too much stimulation tended to send her into a place inside her head that was full of fire, blood, and tears. Thankfully she did not have such a moment as she was ushered into the house, simply giving Xanthus a small polite nod before making her way toward where she heard Delilah. However, she was intercepted by someone completely new and stopped dead, looking up at the older woman with a look of confusion on her face.

“Uhm… Thank you? But no, not a model…” Mercy laughed a bit sheepishly at that. “I doubt I would fit any of their criteria. I’m hardly a twig and I still have my baby cheeks.” She said as she reached up tap the side of her youthful face. “But thank you, again… for the compliment all the same.”
---

Seung:

Keeping silent, observing everyone else, Seung stepped inside behind Lena and Quinn. Mercy was glanced to but he didn’t say anything as he silently made his way toward the kitchen intent upon dropping the bag of fruits off that he’d bought. It was, thankfully, a large bag which fit the fruits he’d brought with him.

Shuffling into the kitchen, dark eyes peering about, he took note of the corn being peeled, and the hairs removed before being dumped into water. The smells being produced by the kitchen, and it’s owner, were good and brought a smile to his face as he looked about for a place to put his bag down. “Place I can put these?” he asked, to no one in particular, as he held up the bag to show what he meant. Inside several persimmons and two bunches of grapes.

-------

Terry:

Terry gave Quinn a smile and a wave back when he spotted his greeting but was soon looking between Xanthus and Lena with an amused look on his face. The other man hadn’t told him where he wanted the pies and instead was looking very besotted at the woman. When Mercy walked in he gave her a smile as well but didn’t interrupt the conversation to actually say hello as his attention was caught by Seung and he found himself following after the other man into the kitchen, though he made sure to stay out of the way of everyone who was cooking.

“I would say just stick them in the fridge.” He answered Seung’s question then ended up putting the bag with the pies on an empty counter and looked around at the others. He hoped that the tension between Quinn and Delilah wouldn’t get any worse, and it looked like she was trying to keep things civil it seems.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2016 12:37 pm

Seung:

Surprise flashed across his features, hidden from Terry as the other was behind him. “Terry.” Smiling to himself he went to put the bag in the fridge, taking a look about the fridge and it’s contents for a moment before he closed the door and turned around to face Terry.

“Do you think also that Xanthus likes woman?” He asked nodding his head toward Xanthus and the female, whom he didn’t know, that the other was talking to. Saying this as he approached Terry and reached out to embrace the other and pressed his lips to the others cheek. “Didn’t know you would be here.” Though he was pleased with the others presence. “Brought fruit - refreshing...to go with dinner.”

---
Xanthus

“They… tend to be. Especially the senshi… but… yeah. Camelot is one of the handful I’ve seen that looks old enough to be out of college.” Xan answered Lena’s question sheepishly, before raising his voice and calling to the kitchen. “Xanthus thinks he can hear you and your speculation just fine, by the way.”

Even if he hadn’t heard the words, which he had, he’d have caught the head nod.

“Sorry Lena, difficult as it may be to believe they can actually pull it together when they feel like it… Quinn helped get a lot of us to safe ground in a dangerous situation and without Mercy here… well. If I had a say I’d give the girl a medal and a nice long vacation. Kids this age shouldn’t have to get roped into this s**t, but… but they have every right to be proud of themselves too for what they’ve made out of a s**t hand.” He shrugged, sheepishly, not wanting to feel like he was excusing the universe for pulling -children- into this, dreading having to tell Lena about the chibi’s. At least the code didn’t have the moral gray area to pull children that were all but babies into battle. “Ok I’ve gotta get the butter going for real and start getting stuff to the table.”

---
Quinn:
Seeing Delilah made something twist a bit in his chest, there was alot he wanted to say to her but now was not the time… and honestly what more could be said? She made the choice and he would suck it up and accept it like the big boy he was. “Delilah, you're looking,” Fantastic… Gorgeous… Delectable… “Good. You’re looking really good.” His smile might have been a bit strained but that was something he would have to deal with. It didn’t take long for him to stash his offerings in the fridge. By then Seung and Terry were in the kitchen as well, their obvious affection had the sandy haired young man smile in a much more relaxed way. They were so cute together.

It was tempting to make some comment or actually apologize to the two with regards to the night months back when he got smashed but as Quinn’s moss green eyes slid back to Delilah, it was hard not to watch her, he knew he wouldn’t bring it up. Not here, not now, not with mixed company. The apologies would have to wait.
Quinn let out a snicker at Xan’s response to Seung’s comment about the other knight’s romantic life. Putting his own worries to the side, he stuck his head back out into the hall and said to Xan, “Talk to the pretty lady ladder dude. Let's get the table set so you can feed all the protectors of truth and justice that you decided to invite to your date.” His smile was wide and teasing. “I’m even willing to act as a pack mule to get it all to the table.”
---
Lena:
Two eyebrows went up as she listened to Mercy speak. Clearly something was amiss with the girl and that rubbed Lena the wrong way. But she didn’t have long to think about it as two of the boys from the kitchen began to make comments about Xan’s and her. Honestly Lena was more amused..especially when she realized how embarrassed they made Xan. She liked them and didn’t even know who they were.

Turning her eyes back to Mercy, Lena shook her head. “Just means that is going to turn into nice lean muscle if you treat it right. I can tell you take care of yourself all the same. I’m Lena by the way. It’s always so nice to meet people nowadays who aren’t flying through windows and preventing you from getting your coffee.”

Smiling, she offered the girl a hand to shake. Business Lena showed a moment. “How did you meet the Bullhead of Mars?”
---
Delilah:
“Thank you. You seem to be doing well.” Delilah said softly as she stole another glance at Quinn before dropping the corn she had been working on into the bowl. The raven haired woman did not wait for a response as she then used the exchange between others as a chance to slip out of the kitchen.

Heading out, she saw the young woman speaking to a female she did not know. That must have been the lady the men were eyeing and mocking Xan over. Well...she was pretty in a sort of way…

Stepping up next to Mercy, she put a hand on the woman’s shoulder and smiled. “Sorry to interrupt. Just checking on my friend here.”
---

Mercy
She laughed a bit at that, taking Lena’s hand to give it a firm shake before bowing her head a bit. “Thank you, I do try. Though I will admit the nightly patrols help out in that regard, though I will be looking to study some proper fighting technique here soon…” When Delilah appeared, Mercy smiled a bit more and when the woman placed a hand on her shoulder she leaned into her a bit.

“No, Delilah, it’s fine, you weren’t interrupting!” She said with a small nod of her head. “I was just talking to Lena,” She said with a small nod. “About how I met Xanthus. Well… I met him as Kairatos, and didn’t get to know him as Xanthus until… later…” Her voice dropped a bit and her eyes took on that tell-tale glaze of someone remembering trauma they’d rather not and with a quick shake of her head she forced a smile back on her face.

“But I met him in a park, actually. He was very nice - though it would have been nice to know he had a girlfriend.” She said, looking Lena over for a moment. “Or am I being overly presumptuous? I mean, he’s like… waaaay too old for me so no worry about a puppy crush or anything…” She snorted then. “I’ve got my own boy problems if I’m gonna be honest… But like… I dunno, I know everyone here but you, so I gotta go out on a limb and call it like I see it.”

If there was one thing Lena seemed to be able to do, it was drop Mercy’s guard, there was just something about the woman that felt… Normal.
---

Seung:

Pausing as he heard Xanthus from the other room, and knowing he and Terry had been heard, he laughed and ran his fingers through his hair. “Is fine for you to hear. Is true though - isn’t it?” He asked, not really expecting confirmation of any kind from the blond.

Stepping away from Terry the older of the two made his way toward the group, a smile in place. He had recently re-dyed his hair, though the style was the same, so his hair was more of it’s natural black color but with reddish streaks spread throughout. It looked good, he was glad he’d done it, he had surprised Terry with the new color though.

“Brought some fruit, didn’t think soju would be good...didn’t know what else to bring. Barbeque here is different so didn’t know what would work best.” So fruit being refreshing he felt was a safe thing to go with, something familiar and common enough. Grapes for those who tried and didn’t like persimmons, or who simply didn’t want to try one. “I can help with things if you need.” Seung offered before smiling to Mercy and Delilah. The new female, Lena, he than flashed a smile to and held out a hand. “Is nice to meet you.” A glance than to the other two ladies. “Both of you are doing well?”

Xanthus
“I was fighting a nega and ended up being thrown through a coffee shop window. Spilled her coffee. She made me buy her a new one.” Xanthus explained, at least… a rather short hand version of events, since Lena had started to become the object of much curiosity. “Fruit is fine, I’m sure it’ll be fantastic.”

He held up his hands in surrender, and hopefully to part the throng to allow him to get the butter ready and shred the chicken, which would go to the table in a large serving bowl alongside the buns and other dishes, so that people could help themselves with serving tools. It seemed safer than assuming how much people would, or would be interested in eating. “Lecture me about my social life or lack thereof later, the food’s going to get cold and there’s other things I’d like to get to. And no, I’m not proposing you giddy gossip hounds.”

It was a bit… early to even be thinking about it, but he wouldn’t put it past this pack to titter up their sleeves about it.
----
Quinn:
The young man had ducked his head back into the kitchen to see what he could do just as Seung mentioned soju. Quinn had a vague memory of the drink from their ‘get drunk’ party and winced, “yeah let's avoid the soju for now Seung.” As he walked past the two he paused a moment and said quietly, “I owe you guys an apology for the last few weeks. I was an a** and, well, I had a lot to work thorough.” He shrugged and looked sincere as he added, “I'm sorry if my issues affected you two in anyway. I'm doing better now so no more drunken benders. Promise.” With his apology given to Terry and Seung that just left Xan, Mercy, Nirvana, and like a dozen others, not including Delilah herself.

After a moment the sandy haired knight awkwardly cleared his throat. “Anyway. Let's get what we can out so we can all eat.” He slipped past the two guys and started to move everything he could onto the table just as Xan made a crack about proposing them. With a bright smile he made an exaggerated moan of disappointment, “awe man. You just ruined my plan for the night!” Humor was a good way to shake off the awkwardness he was still feeling. “Not even a little ‘fun’ Xan?”
---
Dinner is Served- Minor time skip

While the house wasn’t… technically designed for such a large crowd, as displayed by the crowd in the kitchen, Xanthus had done his best to make the most of the dining space, even though space and numbers had forced it to be a rather informal set up, there was room to move away from the crowded table and find seats around the room, or sit at the table proper, if you were so inclined, which was currently almost groaning from the number of dishes, the centerpieces being a large serving bowl of shredded BBQ and a stack of soft buns, and surrounding it, as many of the other offerings as he’d been able to crowd in.

“OK so, help yourselves. Just try not to get any on the rug, mostly because I don’t want the cats to find it before I do.”

He really didn’t want to clean up the results of Josephine eating Barbecue. It wasn’t pretty. “I do want to toss an idea out but it’ll wait till everyone's eating. Let’s just try not to make this into a copy of most large gatherings I’ve seen.” He noted, with a wry smile, then added, his face growing more serious and stern for a moment. “Actually check that. I’ll rephrase. I’m not looking for opinions. I can get those from just about anyone and I know I don’t come with the reputation for puzzle solving. I know what I want to do and I need to know if anyone’s up to help me do what I need to.”

----
Delilah:
Xanthas really had been lucky that dinner was ready just in time for the males of the pack to feast upon else poor Xanthas might have lost his new girlfriend before things even got interested. Helping herself to her own plate, Delilah took a place on the couch, figuring the table wasn’t going to provide enough room for anyone until something was cleaned off.

“Xan, you are already doing better than most gatherings. You don’t have any jerks here and no one is fighting for the spotlight.” Delilah smirked, remembering several of her own experiences in the past. “Oh, and you aren’t trying to speak for everyone.”

Chuckling, she picked up the BBQ sandwich and dug in.
---
Lena:

“Depends on what you are proposing.” Lena had called back when she had heard him say the words. The attention didn’t bother you. In fact, she enjoyed it as she eyed Mercy.

“ I don’t know what our host sees me as besides someone who makes him drag me to Mars or show up to pick out lingerie but he’s fun to be around.” She admitted with a shrug, innocent enough for one dark smile over her face. That was a look that could make anyone blush.

“But if you are having boy troubles, I’d be happy to listen. It seems both you and your friend Delilah have some of them.” Green eyes flicked to the woman who was trying not to cough hearing her name.

“After the Bull shares with us what is on his mind of course. I think he’s about to dance around the room if he doesn’t get it out.”
----
Mercy:

Mercy felt color rise in her cheeks at the insinuated relationship between Lena and Xanthus. That was far more than she really needed to know but at the same time… Just teasingly enough information for her to fill in the blanks that there was definitely more going on between Xan and Lena than Xan was putting forward… Which was fine. They were adults, they did adult things… Things that Mercy knew about in a nebulous “Health Class” sense.

The offer for assistance with her… boy trouble was unexpected… Though her comment about Delilah also sharing the same fate got her hackles up. “Don’t… judge her on that… She had a very… valid… reason to break up with Quinn... “

Shaking her head though she raised a hand. “It’s… not for talking about here… Obviously.” She said keeping her voice low. “Thank you, for the offer, I mean… After Xan is done telling us what’s on his mind we can share phone numbers maybe? I’ll be sure to pester you about him.”

The food though, had her bringing her bag into the kitchen and dropping it off by a wall before getting a plate for herself and bringing it out to sit near Delilah, on the floor though, not the couch. She set the plate in her lap and took a dainty nibble at her sandwich, eating slowly but keeping her ears open to hear what Xan had to say.

Xanthus:

Xanthus demonstrated his own talent for color changing, perhaps not as impressive as Mercy, whose hair complimented her blush, but he cleared his throat, raised an eyebrow at Lena and decided to get on with it, since most of the others.

“Great. So… Yeah. Most of you probably know how we got into the Rift. When Caedus gave us those crystals that we were able to use to access the corrupted Academy. Which… well… this isn’t about the code, or the Rift. We got what we were after… tough as it was. What I wanted to talk about was the Crystals.”

His body language was… at best… tense. He still remembered the degree of scoffing at the Moon, right up until the Code had told them how it could be repaired. Between that and Caedus it was like holding puzzle pieces and not being sure if they went to the same puzzle, or if they just happened to coincidentally resemble each other.

“I need some people to help me go digging on wonders, planets too. Everything we’ve seen the Negaverse do, almost to the letter, has been a… a warped mirror to things Order or Knights can do. Transcended and Ascended's, Purification and corruption, Personal Youma and Summons.” He shot another look at Lena, who still had Asterions tiny oil jar. “Even if it’s taken a while, the parallels have come up. So far they’ve been the only ones who can move energy, which they do by taking it involuntarily. Until the Transcended, who do it in a very limited fashion and can’t store it, and then until CAEDUS… who’s neutral, like the knights… and who -can- store it, and have people donate it voluntarily. I’d… been wondering if that was possible for a while, after everything else I’ve seen come up mirrored… and we’ve lost SO much. I mean hell we didn’t know about the code, let alone the piece in the Academy… so what else did we lose right? I need some people to dig around… find out if Caedus’ people invented this or if they’re artificially recreating something Order lost and Chaos… warped. But I only have access to one small wonder, and it’s not as… restored as some others… and I could use help. If we can find one hint that it’s possible… great. If we can find multiple sources… even better, we’ll have something saying it’s not just a collective myth of a brighter age, that it might be worth trying. We fixed the code doing things we didn’t think were possible right? I mean… what have we got to lose? We could make a major impact on behalf of the few Royals we have.”

Mercy:

Mercy listened to Xanthus speak in silence, but she did end up putting her food back on her plate, and slid the plate to the floor. She really didn’t want to be the first to speak, but since Xanthus had decided to speak about one of her friends… well…

“I haven’t spoken to Caedus since the invasion but…” Mercy began, placing a hand lightly on her chest as she spoke. “I’ll happily try to talk with him some more, or with you, Xan, if that is something you want to do. He really isn’t a bad person. His people were… well… Let’s just say they made their planet for… space reasons.” She didn’t really feel it was her place to share all of Caedus’ story right then and there.

“Once I figure out how to travel to my homeworld… Since I’ve only recently learned that such a thing, is in fact, a thing… I will be more than happy to look around and see what I can find for you Xan… You’ve got my support in this… If you need anything from me, just ask.”
---
Quinn:

Quinn might not have been one of the first to dig into the large offering of food but he likely had one of the fullest plates. The BBQ was damn good. Very aware of amount of food on his plate, and just how much of a mess he could potentially make, the sandy haired young man stuck around the table doing his best to keep out of the way and not make a mess. So far he had succeeded but when Xan started to talk about the rift Quinn bobbled his plate a little. Rather than drop it he put it down with more care than was necessary.

He still wished they had never gone there, that Caedus had never shown up, even wished that the code had never been found but mostly he just wished it had never happened… any of it. He missed a bit of what the Mars knight had said while the sandy haired Pluto knight mentally wrestled with his own demons, his body tight, hands balled in his pockets, shoulders slightly hunched as if wincing from a blow. His expressive moss green eyes distant and dull, even as his pallor went pasty as he remembered that night that was the catalyst for so much. Remembered the hellish feel of the Rift, the oppressiveness, the eery stones, and the giant scorpion they had found in that hidden chamber of the broken academy ruins. What happened after though, that was what haunted him more than anything else. Briefly his eyes flicked to Delilah before looking away, he was doing better now but that didn’t mean he didn't have regrets.

Swallowing hard Quinn did his best to focus back on what Xan was saying. Something about crystallizing energy and searching their wonders or homeworlds. Doing his best to cover his momentary lapse the young man smiled wanly. “Like Mercy I’m willing to do some digging around on my wonder. It likely doesn’t have anything that will help but hey,” He shrugged, “I keep finding more and more rooms so who knows what's in the wren of rooms my ancestors dug out.” Pausing, he took a deep breath and asked, “What about asking the code about it?” The name was said with more malice than he had intended and with a wince he added, “maybe now it can honestly tell us not that I’ve talked to it since…” he trailed off and his eyes that had been on Xan fell to the table where he studied the weave of the tablecloth. “I can’t talk to it. I won’t,” with a shake of his head he added, “at least not right now. I’ll help any other way but that.” It was a honest offer but he really didn’t feel like he could face the glowing ball of omnipotent power that was the code. Not after the disaster that purifying it caused. It had been a bit like trying to put out a fire with gasoline, it had just exacerbated the tourmoile Quinn had been going through.
---
Delilah:
Half way into a bite of corn when he spoke, the raven haired woman suddenly wished she had dental floss and a napkin. One of the two wasn’t bad so as Xanthus spoke, she tried not to mess with her teeth too badly.

The crystals made her raise a brow. Having used on in a demo, and holding another around her neck, Delilah was very curious as to where this was going. Without thinking, her hand went to lay over where the pure white crystal she had turned into a necklace rested against the skin of her chest.

She could hear Mercy speak about Caedus. The name being dropped made Delilah well aware that her little fledgling would speak up. Quinn however...surprised her. Delilah only listened, never looking back at the male as he brought up the code. What had happened with that thing?

“Let me make sure I’m understanding you. You are looking for a means to collect energy?” Delilah questioned. Xanthus had brought up an amazing point. EVERYTHING that one side experienced, the other side had their own versions. Okay...nearly everything. But that was not the point. “So what does that have to do with Royals? I apologize if I’m not following.”
---

Lena:
Green eyes moved around the room taking in the expressions everyone seemed to get when Xan mentioned this thing called The Rift. She did not remember that name coming up in their lunch discussion or even on her napkin notes. Had she missed it?

The other name...Caedus...she would have to ask about them later. Right now, one very important question struck her.

“Why do you want to help the Royals if they are all such no shows or assholes?”
---
Mercy:

While there might have been some sympathy for Quinn buried somewhere in Mercy’s gut, she didn’t show it. At least, not openly anyway. Things cut both ways, but her loyalty to Delilah was absolute. She wasn’t about to weaken her stance on that in any way whatsoever. Did she think that Quinn probably wasn’t a bad guy deep down - absolutely. Did she think he was good enough for Delilah… Well the jury was still out on that. Maybe if he did some soul searching and figured out what to do with himself she’d be a bit more inclined to speak better of him… But right then?

Too soon, and too fresh were the wounds she’d seen on Delilah’s heart to even let Quinn have an inch of slack.

But her attention was quickly taken by Lena’s last statement and she shook her head. “It’s not that simple.”

Pausing for a moment she blushed, realizing she’d just spoken over an adult, but forced herself to continue. They were all equals here… right?

“Some of them are certainly… less than pleasant to be around, or deal with, frankly… But not all of them are bad. There are some Royals who do care about the state of things, but there are so few of them they can’t be everywhere at once…” She said. “Destiny City is a big place, and unless someone has perfected a way to be in two places at once… Well… There are a lot of fires to put out, and not enough firefighters to do it.”
---

Seung:

With a plate of food in hand Seung had made his way to the living room and sat, on the floor, at the coffee table. It wasn’t something unfamiliar to him, sitting on the floor and eating, his own plate wasn’t that full as most of the foods he was unfamiliar with and he didn’t want to waste anything he didn’t wind up liking. On the way to the coffee table he had nudged Terry, indicating for the other to follow him.

Just was he was popping a grape into his mouth, already having had a few bites of corn, Xanthus started talking and explaining his idea. Leaving his food for the moment, save for the grape he chewed on, he let his attention focus on each person who spoke before finally focusing on Xanthus, since this was what he had brought up.

“Makes sense...to have opposites...a balance.” It was something he’d mentioned back during the invasion, or rather during the meeting which had led up to it. He’d mentioned it a few times hadn’t he? Balance and a need to restore it, but how to know how far out of balance things were. “Can check wonder but not likely to find much - hard to see in dark.” He also was focusing on trying to make his wonder livable again, at least for himself and perhaps Terry as well. Nothing long term but a few nights would be nice, it would be an accomplishment and he was sure it would make his ancestor proud of him.

“Could certainly ask the code...I wonder where the piece on moon will go - said it couldn’t stay...didn’t it? Do we need to find place for it? Or what will happen?” He asked, wondering if anyone had a clue, since he was still fairly new to being a knight and a bit...isolated. Language was just one reason he was isolated as a knight. Maybe others would know though or could find out? Glancing to Terry, wondering if he knew anything, and also looking for some form of support for what he’d said...to know he’d said something which might...help or at least had a place in the discussion.

Xanthus: “Yeah I keep asking myself that.” Xanthus answered Lena first, with a wry smile. “Unfortunately while they’re few, far between, and most of the ones I’ve met have been self congratulatory dickbags… or… just plain unhinged like Castor… they're also the only ones who can purify someone of Chaos. So the few we have that are active we need… and the one who purified me straight up passed out afterward. It takes a lot out of them, and that makes them vulnerable, big burst of energy then nothing? If we could keep them standing at least enough to throw some punches at minimum, that makes them a lot safer getting off the field, and makes it less tempting for Chaos to jump in, or at least, would give ‘em a surprise more in our favor if they tried. And um… kind of?” He wasn’t sure how to explain it. “The Transcended can give people energy but I don’t think it works quite the same way. I mean what do they do exactly? Nightlight it up, heal people a little? If we could do anything like Caedus’s crystals or the negaverse does, we could do… I don’t know… more? Especially when we have so few Royals to begin with, it would be nice if we could get people who wanted out faster than a … a week or two between purifications. The faster we can get people out the harder it would be for Chaos to prepare between bailouts. I mean unless you know some magic way to get us some new Royals, which I sure as hell don’t…”

He was short on people to suggest too. Name a list of people who would put their own names in the ballot box, sure, but someone who could be what they needed… he was less sure about that.

Quinn though.. Quinn looked like the whole talk was a bucket of ice down his shorts, and he wasn’t sure how much he’d actually caught.

“We’d have to get back to the Moon, or Olympus to ask the Code. Easier said than done, so… not my first choice. And I’d never heard a word from the piece at my wonder until corruption from the Academy piece got strong enough to bleed through. I think we should assume we won’t be hearing from it until the next summon anyway, even the moon piece, which is recovering. So grab your decoder rings and flashlights if you’re up for it and just… I mean what's the worst that can happen? Nothing changes right? This is a nice, rare, situation where we don’t have to worry about the failure option… unless someone other than Mistral is sitting on a giant death trap. Also if the Moon piece does need moved, it’ll probably be a collective decision and the migraine that entails, not just…” He waved a hand at the gathering. “Us.”

---
Mercy:

She had fallen quiet again when Xan had started talking once more, she pulled her knees up a bit to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, letting her head rest lightly on her knees as she listened. While it wasn’t the most comfortable of positions it allowed her to focus on the words that Xan was saying. Finally she let her legs slide forward again, bending at the knee to hook sideways away from her food as she shifted.

“I do hope we find something,” She said, her voice low but… determined. “We need something to turn things to our favor… We lost a lot of momentum from the Invasion… Looking back on it now, we weren’t prepared for that attack… We weren’t nearly as unified as we needed to be and it cost us dearly.”

She still had nightmares. Not that she’d tell anyone that…. Not in this room anyway. But most nights she found herself, waking up in a cold sweat and shaking, still able to feel the heat and hear the screams.

She was pretty sure she hasn’t gotten a proper night’s sleep in… a while.

“We just… need some good news. Is all.”
---
Delilah:
“I don’t know much about the Code but in truth, I doubt several of us in the room will ever get much say in it. “ Her eyes went to Mercy. They were the only two senshi there after all. “But from what I have gathered, the Code isn’t what we are after. What we are after are things that could even the odds a bit…” Those red eyes went from Mercy back to Xanthus.

“I’ll see what I can find on the Moon on the next full moon cycle. Not much I can do about restoring it but I know there are secrets there just waiting to be found.” Delilah’s smile was hopeful as she gave a nod. “Who knows. Maybe we could find a way a group like us could do something without having to call in another. One concern I have always had was the waiting period between ‘I want out’ and ‘I can get out!’. All it takes is one slip of the tongue and everything could go up in flames. I’m sure most purifications don’t go unnoticed either…”
---
Lena:
Silence wasn’t her. However at the talk of others, Lena could only really offer nods and shrugs. There was much she was still new to and this was proof of it. So, as Mercy spoke up wanting happier things, Lena rose up and slipped from the room back into what she had seen as the kitchen.

A few moments later she came back with the chocolate dip and fruit. Sliding it towards the young girl, she gave her a wink and grabbed her glass again. “Well, I’m on board on one condition.” She pointed a finger towards Xanthus. “You come with me when I head to whatever my wonder is. If it’s the hell hole you say some are, then I want to throw you into it first.” It was a pure joke cleared up by her smile.
---

Xanthus: “They’ve gotten… more worry about it since Zinkenite brushed the loss of an agent under the rug. Didn’t take well to me pointing out I’d been out a whole year and they hadn’t made good on one threat. They did their leg work since, they know more about who I was before than I do. And I already saw one purification turn into an free for all brawl.”

He gave a grim smile at this, because it was… well it had been a gamble. Had to speak up to let others know it was possible, risked making it more dangerous if he did. Then again… there was a limit to what they could do knowing who he -had been- compared to who he was now, and their continued failure to kill him or rope him back was a bit of spit in their eye, however insignificant. Much as he’d like to pretend he was more of an piece of grit, he doubted most of them thought about it that much… maybe with an exception or two. Probably fewer than those who might still be licking their wounds after the insanity that had been Vespa’s purification.

“And that’s fine, if only because if your wonder tries to eat me I am -definitely- teleporting the ******** home. But I’m hoping Mercury has cornered the market on murderous idiot style home decorating. Definitely open to checking the moon though. I mean if anyplace might turn up something… I mean maybe not but…” There were no Moon knights that he’d seen, so if what they were looking for turned out to be knight territory they might be out of luck… but then again… if it was a balanced affair, he’d be surprised if it wasn’t something in the wheelhouse of both Senshi and Knights.
---
Mercy:

The girl shot Lena a small smile when the chocolate and fruit was offered. She had to give the woman credit for being able to read what Mercy was trying so hard to keep under wraps. But still, she nibbled on some as she listened to Xan. She did not want to repeat herself, but still her brain worked a furrow into the ground.

“Whatever you need,” she said finally. “I will do my best to help provide. If you find something and want to inspect my homeworld… Well, I will see as to making it presentable.”

She had yet to visit, let alone known it existed till recently. Perhaps some exploration was in order once she was better prepared.
---
Delilah:
“I’ll be candid in I’m not sure what to be looking for. Most of the moon is ruins but I bet the library might have something. Amazing such a place is still in decent shape. Even if the language is deader than Latin.” Delilah huffed, reaching over to still a strawberry.

“But as always Xanthus, you know I’ll do what I can. Especially to if what you say is true. If they aren’t going after those who leave then you have to wonder just how organized they are in that regards. Though I’m not surprised one purification went into a battle. You all felt the energy Castor and Gany gave off.” Delilah shrugged.

“But I’m a few days off before I can go. If you like, I can bring you with me. Two sets eyes better than one. I’ll also place a phone call out to a few others not here tonight. Nirvana I know would love to get in on this.”
---
Lena:
“So we have a game plan.” Lena spoke, leaning against the couch. “Okay fearless leader, we find strange objects and report back. When should we plan to meet up again with findings?” She eyed him. “As a group that is.” The last part was thrown in with a wink.
---
Quinn:
After speaking his mind Quinn kept his mouth shut and did his best to get his emotions in order. Logically he knew that Xan wasn’t asking much from them, nothing really to do with the code or the disaster that was the void attack, but all the talk still caused bad memories to come boiling back to the surface. He did his best to keep track of the conversation but must have missed something because the next thing he really understood was that they were discussing a moon trip, again not anything he really wanted to repeat just then.

He winced though when Delilah mentioned Nirvana. Quinn owed the other knight a serious apology for the way he acted and sadly he hadn’t been able to deliver it in person yet. How did one apologize for trying to kill someone while under the influence of chaos infused, code induced, alcohol tainted rage? Well maybe not kill… more like punch his face in. If Quinn thought he could get away with just a written apology he would have done it but face to face, not quite groveling, is in order.

“Can I suggest a bigger place to meet,” His smile was more or less back, it was easier to focus on the here and now rather than the past. “Love your place Xan but it's just a little cozy with us here, add a few more and I might end up sitting in your lap just to find a place to sit. Not that my apartment is much bigger,” He shrugged and added, “But given enough heads up I think I can swing the lake house. Everyone would just need rides out of the city. That is if no one else has any objections or better ideas.” The family lake house would be more than big enough for a large meeting it was more the matter of getting the staff out of the house then making sure there was enough space. But if their group would rather do something else Quinn was game.
---

Xanthus:

Family. Lake house. As in more than one house. Because why not.

“...Yeah some of us don’t come with multiple crash pads.” Xanthus pointed out, trying to hide a touch of frustration. “I share the place with a couple others because it’s kinda hard to make rent or lease a place when you have functionally no history for people to check.” This was one of the challenges he wished he could do more about for side swaps, but from his position, it was like staring up a sheer cliff and trying to figure out how to climb it with no gear. In this case maybe a bit colored by the fact it felt like Quinn was perched at the top trying to figure out why no one else was up there with him, though he knew the gesture was well intentioned. It was just… hard not to be knee-jerk defensive, even if he wouldn’t go back in exchange for the best penthouse in the city.

“Guess we could take a vote on where to meet though. I’m just not sure what’s a reasonable amount of time. Could go as needed I guess? All else fails we crash at the nearest Dennys or something and use a booth for a while. A trip to a lake house might be… well it would be something… but I’m not sure it’s practical for everyone’s schedules.

He wasn’t even sure he felt much like a ‘fearless leader’. More… bullishly stubborn. Unwilling to let go of this idea until he’d dug for every possible trace.

--
Delilah

Delilah’s eyes clearly rolled as she heard her ex bring up that lake house. She had been good. She had not started anything but at this point, she had to shoot a look at him. “Quinn, why no pick some place more...practical if you are going to start offering locations?” The red eyes shot towards him, soft but still showing that she questioned his thinking. “That place, while large, is out of the way. Not to mention everytime it comes up, it’s less about work and more about a good time.”

It wasn’t that she didn’t love that lake house. But it was time to realize there was a time and place for fun. And a time and place for that drive. When they needed to be serious, she did not think it was...appropriate.

Turning her eyes back to Xanthus, she seemed to relax just slightly. “I am only able to do moon visits on the Full Moon. I would be happy to go with anyone to their wonder before but I’m stuck until then.” She shrugged, clearly still slightly annoyed. “If anyone has a calendar on hand, I can tell you when next one is.”

---
Lena:

A whistle came out of the older woman’s mouth as she leaned back on the couch, suddenly finding large interest in Mercy’s hair. Her hands had reached out and started to braid it.

“We are about mid cycle. Should be full in the next week or so.” Lena spoke, ignoring the rest of the banter. “But, in my honest option,” Lena started, her eyes shooting towards Xanthus as she worked to defuse the situation. “Where and when we meet doesn’t matter right now. Right now is that we are all in agreement and we have BBQ getting cold. Everyone has each other’s number? Well, how hard is it to keep in contact via text?”

Her hands had the braid finish and were turning it into a bun.
--
Mercy:

It was not very often that someone took a vested interest in her hair, and while she barely knew Lena, Mercy was not of the mind to… add… to the growing tension in the air. If nothing else, she was more than ready to slink off and out of the apartment and just bother Xan on a different day. It was obvious that she was in over her head. These were all adults talking about adult responsibilities and she had very little to actually input without probably sounding like a silly child so she quietly sat there and let Lena do her hair. She nibbled the fruit, ignoring the chocolate as her appetite had taken a bit of a nose dive as the air around her seemed to crackle with… frustration.

The lake house was… Mercy didn’t have a word for what it made her feel like… But even she knew that it was too much right then. She could feel the difference between people in the room in the air, and again her mind wanted her to just… quietly stand up, gather her things, and leave while the adults talked.

As Lena made her hair into a bun however, she knew she was stuck until the woman finished her work, if only because she wasn’t about to try and break free from her grip and risk getting her hair pulled. If she sufficed for a distraction for Lena that was fine, she didn’t hold it against the woman who barely knew what it was she’d gotten into by getting to know Xanthus.
---
Quinn:
Quinn was a bit surprised by Xan’s tone and the information he had just shared. It never occurred to the sandy haired knight that his teammate and friend had encountered issues with his new status as a knight, especially not something so mundane as a job and a place to stay. It was tempting to ask more, a tiny idea beginning to form in the recesses of his brain, but Xan had already shifted back to more practical locations and before Quinn could agree to Denny's or anywhere else Delilah chimed in.

She pretty much put the nail in the lake house idea and yet it still kind of felt a bit like she slapped him for it. He opened his mouth to refute her claims about it being only for a place to have fun, it was out of the way but he had seen that as a good thing not bad, but shut it when he realized that technically Delilah was right. He had never gone up there for a serious reason and not had it end in some type of amusement, granted he had never gone up there for anything like this before so there was no reason a serious meeting couldn’t stay serious. Besides, having some fun at a meeting couldn’t be all that bad, not as long as the important stuff was handled. Quinn didn’t say any of this. Not a thing. Instead he just let it go, for the most part, besides the topic had shifted to the moon again and that wasn’t anything he knew about.

Feeling a bit battered on all sides Quinn quietly scooped up his plate and went to lean against a wall, more or less on the edge of the group. He didn’t really understand the vibe he had gotten from Xan, although his situation gave him an inkling of an idea, and he really didn’t understand the feeling he felt behind Delilah’s comments. Maybe he was reading into everything too much or not enough or something but whatever it was made him want to scatter, to slip out of the meeting and find someplace else to be even if that place happened to be work. But he couldn’t do that, he wouldn’t do that, instead he used the food remaining on his plate to keep quiet. Keeping his ears open but focusing on his plate, his mind trying to understand what he had missed.
---

Seung:

He had been silent this whole time, eating and listening - watching. He hadn’t been involved in this war as long as three of those here, and he couldn’t help with the moon at all. He also hadn’t found his piece of the code and so could offer no help there. He could, and would, try and check his wonder for anything which may stand out although at his wonder that could be a lot of things.

His wonder, at least in the personal living quarters, was a mix of was normal to find on Ganymede as well as what was from old, ancient, South Korean culture. Finding something out of place when surrounded by things from a civilization he knew nothing about was just...everything from that unknown civilization was odd and stand out to him. He could, perhaps, talk to his ancestor and see if he knew of anything? It was an idea and one he would look into, though he wasn’t sure how to approach the topic with the elder. How to ask about a way to collect energy, to one up the Negaverse, without coming off wrong? To collect energy, or want to, might sound very bad to the former Venice knight and he didn’t want to risk that.

The books, the scrolls, the slips of parchment written on all in a language he didn’t know. Maybe buried under it all, hidden somewhere, something he could read - something in their shared mother tongue? Had no one ever asked an ancestor to translate things for them? Had no one gained memories of learning to read or write in the ancient language their former self had known? How was that possible though? With how many knights and senshi there were...and not one of them to seek this information, or see if it was possible, or to gain such memories? The odds seemed...off...like it should have happened at least one.

Shaking his head he smiled as he saw Lena giving Mercy attention, attention the young girl obviously needed. His gaze then shifted to Quinn and his appearance. Finishing the last of his food, and downing his drink, he got up and went over to him. Wrapping an arm about the others waist he leaned into his side to whisper to him. “Lake house for fun...we should go. Idea is nice, do not be sad.” His words but a whisper only for the other to hear.

“I’ll take you to my wonder...is nice, big, maybe can help me find something.” He might take Terry also - he should. Right now though Quinn needed attention and as a friend - he would provide it.

“Wonder why none have seen past self learning language or writing...or have never asked ancestor for translation….to learn language.” His words now were spoken louder, for the group to hear. “Would help us if possible...gain knowledge we gain power.”

----

Xanthus
“I’ve had memories of writing, but it wasn’t about that, not to my recollection. But most of the paper at my wonder is still too fragile to handle anyway, even if I remembered enough to read it. So I suppose it’s possible we’ll have… mixed results at best. Especially those of us dependent on retrieving old memories…. But… but hey. I mean it bears repeating. We literally have nothing to lose on this one.” He flashed a grin that was equal parts optimism and nerves, and made a gesture toward the table again. “But hey, let’s cross that historical document when we have to try and read it right? Let’s… let’s just have a nice dinner. I’m never gonna get all this stuff in the fridge if you guys don’t help me clear some of it out.”
