Magic: Being a Homo Magi, Zander is able to channel magical energy and perform magical spells to affect himself, others, and the world around him. It's unknown precisely how many various ways to channel his magic that he knows, but the nature of his incantations (saying phrases backwards to make them happen) means his his potential to make spells is seemingly limitless.
Prestidigitation: Zander, after studying various old magician's tricks that his most famous ancestor would use as a stage performer, has become very adept at using similar simple tricks in order to impress those around him.
Occultism: Zander has an understanding of many things supernatural, as he has studied them since childhood along with other Homo Magi children.

Mostly the fact that people place so much importance on him being the (current) last member of his illustrious bloodline, and the pressure that comes with it.

Zander's a relatively happy guy, and loves to put on a show to entertain people. He's also not exactly as close-minded as his peers, mostly due to the influence of his grandparents.
Character/Personality/Mental/Social Flaws: Due to growing up in a closed-off society, Zander's a bit naive about the outside world and is currently very much unaware of 21st Century cultural norms apart from what little he's read and seen in history tomes.

Zander's history with his family is complicated. He's a bit distant from his overbearing father, but otherwise loves him like a son should. He's closer to his mother and grandfather as well.
Describe their family life/dynamic, growing up: Zander's life was one of always being compared to his father, grandfather, and ancestors, and Lucien's overbearing attitude in insisting that Zander be pushed to his limits caused a rift between them until Zander's mother Delphine convinced her husband to let up on him. Zander's grandparents, however, were much warmer toward their grandson and openly encouraged his aspirations.
Describe their family life/dynamic now: Before Zander was whisked to the Merged Multiverse, things were getting a bit better with his dad, though Lucien was still a bit overbearing and critical. His grandmother recently passed away, but he managed to work through his grief alongisde the rest of his family.

Background Story:
Zander Zatara was born in in the year 2997 AD, in a secluded part of the mountains of Turkey-- a place known as the Hidden City. This city, established in the 21st Century, was a sanctum for the race known as the Homo Magi-- Humans that could tap into the mystical energies of the universe and used them to cast magical spells. As Zander grew up, he was told that he was a direct descendant of one of the most famous of all Homo Magi: Zatanna Zatara, who had served with the Justice League of America in the late 20th and early 21st Centuries.
As Zander grew and learned to hone his powers as a magician, he eventually decided to take on the alias of Zatara, both his last name and also a legacy name for the magicians of the Zatara family, starting with Giovanni "John" Zatara, the father of Zatanna. By the time he was in his teens, Zander began to wonder about life outside the Hidden City; According to his peers, the Homo Magi had retreated to this secluded place for fear of their power being diluted by baseline humans, as well as a belief among baseline humans that magic was outdated and unnecessary in an increasingly technology-driven universe. This led to the vast majority of Homo Magi in the Hidden City to be rather xenophobic and bigoted by the time of Zander's birth.
Zander, however, mostly disagreed with this last point, and sought to see for himself if his peers were right. After repeated attempts to leave the Hidden City by diplomatic means, all of which were denied by the city's High Council, he tried to figure out a way out by himself. In this endeavor he unknowingly was transported not just to the 21st Century, but to the Merged Multiverse itself.
