The night had been a busy one, with lots of activity for one balam in particular. The small purple nan giggled as she padded energetically back towards home. Which happened to be the theater, where she'd been practicing while no one was watching. But with so much energy still coursing through her veins and others of her tribe beginning to retire as the night was coming to an end, Neola wasn't ready for it. Not at all! She had a bounce to her step and some phantom tune in her head that only she could hear.

Paws light on the ground, she stepped forward, then two steps back. Jumped and spun around. Then leaped forward and spread her wings before landing gracefully with her tail curling up over her back. Laughing, the nan dashed off towards the exit and the slowly lightening sky. She began climbing, making it look like a strange and lyrical dance before she was high enough to really spread her wings.

"Shadooooow!" She called out in a lovely voice, looking around for what she believed to be her "shadow" taken on a sentient form.

A bolf flapped lazily toward her and circled her head with a chur. Neola grinned and then launched herself into the sky, wings working to catch the air. When they caught, it boosted her up a little higher and she glided on the currents, her faithful bolf beside her.

"Let's see how far we make it this time!" She giggled as they glided over the trees, Neola working to maintain her height for as long as possible.

Cicero was never one for staying in place for too long. His passions were numerous, and he was filled with such a vivacious energy that nothing held his interest for too long.

It wasn't unusual to travel far from his humble beginnings, and truthfully, nothing brought him peace like flying. He was just taking to the air for the evening, the sun had set some hours before and it was cooler now and the wind blew a little harder. In the silver light of the shining moon, the pale specks on his pelt shimmered like stars as he blended into the indigo skies.

His wings spread to full span as he leaped from a rocky outcropping that he'd spent his afternoon perched on, lazing in the shade. As an updraft lifted him high, his wings beat and he climbed upwards. A joy filled him as his streamers trembled with excitement.

He laid back his ears, tucked his front paws against his chest, his back legs stretched out behind him, his tail curling one way, then another as he banked and slid through the air like water over a smooth stone.

As he reveled in the night, the scenery beneath him changed and soon he was gliding over tree tops. His sight wasn't the best in the evening, but as the world became easier to see, he knew the sun would soon be rising. He looked across the horizon at the rising son and his heart pounded with exhilaration as the sky changed colors.

So enamoured was he with the rising sun, that his attention was not focused on the path ahead and before he could register the sound of small bolf wings, he collided full bodied with another B'aalam. A shocked noise of alarm left him, and as his paws became tangled in those of his hapless victim of circumstance and his feathers got crossed, he recognized they were plummeting, and quickly.

He did his best to disengage from her; but if she was unable to right herself, he'd wrap his wings around her form, especially her unprotected, featherless wings, and attempt to break her fall.

If there was one thing that Neola had definitely not anticipated as the night came to an end and the first flecks of sunlight began to inch across the horizon, it was to find someone else out here with her. So enthralled by the way the wind felt along her body and how she envisioned moving as fluidly on the ground as the air currents allowed her to in the sky, her Shadow's shriek of warning didn't even register. Too late, pink eyes saw a part of the night sky moving towards her. And then something heavy that felt like crashing into a tree smacked into her.

The bolf shrieked again, this time in outrage at someone colliding with his bonded. He'd veered out of the way just in time, but the purple nan was falling. She tried to untangle herself from the strange piece of night sky that was also falling. It didn't occur to her that this was another balam. Though there was a brief moment where everything seemed to freeze and the perfect idea for a new dance came to mind.... and then she felt tree branches snapping and had she missed her landing again?!

Somehow the small nan pushed away just enough to tuck her wings and prepare for the crash that was to come. Though for some reason she couldn't comprehend, it wasn't as hard of a landing as she expected.

Tumbling a few times head over paws until she lay sprawled on the ground, Neola blinked stupidly as her mind caught up with the rest of her. She was quite confused and why was her Shadow making so much noise?! "S-Shadow?" She managed to cough out. Slowly she righted herself into a sitting position, shaking her head before narrowing her eyes and finding that a piece of the night sky had fallen... and it looked strangely like a tah.

Said tah was laying dazedly on the ground in a furrow his shoulders had gouged into the earth upon landing. He coughed and shook his head, before realizing the disorienting screech that was making it harder to recenter was coming from an extraordinarily displeased bolf.

Bolves were fierce creatures that undyingly loyal and very protective of their bonded. This, he was aware of. What he didn't realize was how much their little teeth and claws could hurt. He curled in on himself and covered his body with his wings.

Despite being under attack, he peeked out through his feathers when he heard a soft voice. The b'aalam he'd collided with was a nan who was a fetching color similar to his, but more vibrant. Her markings made the corners of his lips quirk slightly, curling upwards in a displaced smile.
Silver blue eyes peered at her for a moment, registering that his clumsiness had landed them in this situation.

"I'm terribly sorry... I wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention... your... 'Shadow' has every right to be upset. Are you alright? I hope my clumsiness hasn't resulted in injury-"

More concerned about her well being, he risked the bolf's fury, uncovering himself from his shelter and rising to move closer to her. He stepped slowly, his stance open and friendly, head down as he stopped a few feet away, long streamers a tangled mess, his feathers crossed and sticking out in odd places, and his tail curled around his back feet.
He cocked his head to one side, peering up at her through pale eyes. He looked over her wings and her slightly smaller form for any sign of injury. He felt awful that he'd interrupted what must have been such a nice flight in the pale light of the rising sun.

Gaze piercing into the hunkered balam below him, the bolf finally snorted and flew to his bonded, flapping to perch on a branch above her. His eyes held that of the tah, making sure the creature didn't do any more harm to Neola. He bared his fangs once in reminder before settling for grumbling under his breath.

Neola was taken aback, almost surprised, when the piece of the night sky that had collided with her began to speak. Blinking owlishly, she let her eyes take everything in again, but much slower. It was a tah, she belatedly realized. One who's coat was not much different in color from her own. But where she had her bat-like wings, he had feathered ones. Tilting her head in a curious fashion, she regarded him a little bashfully.

"I seem to be fine." She replied slowly, taking stock of herself. "At least... nothing hurts." Her tail curled around her paws. "Where... are you from?" There were others she'd seen like him before, donors of blood with feathery wings and strange whiskers sprouting from their cheeks. But she'd never had the chance to speak with one! As he moved ever so slightly closer, she took the chance to study him. His wings were quite lovely with their soft - she assumed they would be soft! - feathers. And the way his coat seemed to hint at the night sky was equally as pleasing to look at.

Perhaps she needed to make her dancing about the beauty of the night sky? Would that be a good subject for training to test and be an actress?

Ears flicking forward, Neola realized she was being quite rude. "O-Oh. I... are you alright? You fell pretty hard too."

He noticed the way she observed him, bashfully and perhaps a bit distracted? He wasn't sure, he couldn't really read her, though the owlish look in her eyes made his maw curl upwards into a friendly smile. His ears flicked back with relief when she said she wasn't hurt and he sat down, shaking out his wings and using his tail to uncross his whiskers.

He pondered her question for a moment, seeking a response that would answer the question in such a manner that it might cover all points of curiosity for the female.

"The homeland of my kind are called the Wandering Mountains, but I was awoken in the Crystal Wood. Not usually where we occur, but there you have it."

He was looking up at the Bolf, rather intrigued by the fact that the bonded pair were so similar. He had not run into many B'aalam with bonded familiars.

Her second question turned his attention back to her and his ears perked forward. He has a familiar soreness down his side that was probably indicative of bruising and his wings would need grooming, some of his feathers yanked loose amidst the tree canopy on the way down, but otherwise...

"I am not unaccustomed to such collisions, I am none the worse for wear." He admitted, looking a little bashful himself this time, head ducking low.

His homeland of his kin was the.... Wandering Mountains? Her face scrunched up as she tried to make sense of how mountains could wander. She'd never seen such a sight nor did her mind recollect what exactly they were. Perhaps she would one day see them? Or hear grand tales about them! Ah, but the Crystal Wood she was familiar with. At least in the sense she'd heard talk of it. Still... she did not venture from Castrum de Drac very often. Okay she never left. All she had was the stories and descriptions from her tribe and those that came to visit or join them shared.

"I was awoken here. This is my home." Neola said with a tiny hint of pride. She loved Castrum de Drac! And the Theater... "I've never heard of these 'Wandering Mountains'. What are they like?"

Though, as he'd stated, he hadn't awoken there. Did he know what they were like himself? Maybe he could explain how a mountain could wander!

"You mean you have collisions frequently?" She asked in a tiny voice, ears flicking forward as she stared in wonder. So she was not the only one that had minor 'accidents' when gliding?! This was, she admitted, the first time she'd collided with another b'alam. Now trees on the other hand....

Please forgive my lack of formatting. I'm on my phone in bed. XD. I'll fix it when I get to my computer next. That aside, I hope you are going out of town for fun things and have an awesome time!

He watched the Thoughts roll through her mind, her expressive face a tell tale. When she spoke he straightened up.

"This is my first time visiting Castrum de Drac. I don't know much about it, but I look forward to learning."

A smile tugged the corners of his mouth upwards. There was something so innocent and light to her, contrary to everything he'd heard about the dark b'aalam race. It was easily growing on the friendly tah.

At her question, he rolled a few possible answers around in his mind. Finally he settled for one and spoke.

"I've only seen them a paw full of times myself, mind you, but there is scarcely anything so beautiful... They are taller than any tree, and they span over islands; but instead of water, each island is surrounded by air. They float so far above us that on cloudy days they look like they are shrouded in fog. Sometimes, in the setting sun, or the pouring rain, it looks like they're the only thing keeping the sky from falling."

He beamed, whiskers aflutter with joy as he remembered the last time he'd seen them with a fierce fondness.

Hearing the last words escape her in a tiny voice, he dipped his head sheepishly again.

"Usually things. I'm a klutz. Sometimes my depth perception is off... Other times I'm distracted by the beauty of the world around me... But I uhh.. Travel a lot. If I stay somewhere too long I guess I just get in the way... But.. I uhh... Have never run into a bolf before... Or a nan as pretty or as nice as you."

It was said with innocent sincerity. As far as he could tell, and he was a pretty good judge of character, she was pretty inside and out.

His first time to Castrum de Drac? Her features all but lit up. Any hesitancy she may have felt seemed to evaporate. "Really?! You've never been to Castrum de Drac?" Oh she could take him on a tour! Show him the beauty of it. Well, what she thought was beautiful about it anyways. For some reason, other tribes - with some exceptions - didn't seem to find the dark 'underworld' quite so lovely. But if you could look past the 'dark' part, the gothic-like structures were quite remarkable.

Neola's thoughts quickly sidetracked as the tah spoke of the Wandering Mountains. Her eyes widened in disbelief. She did not doubt his words, it was just hard to truly visualize what he spoke of without seeing them first hand. "They sound.... marvelous!" She almost whispered, afraid to speak too loud and ruin the description. Briefly, she wondered if there was a chance she'd ever be able to witness them? Of course that would mean leaving her home....

"A klutz?" She tilted her head at the funny word, rolling it around in her mind. It sounded vaguely familiar, and she'd heard it used often enough. Neola couldn't help the small giggle the escaped. "That is not a bad distraction!" Except for when you were crashing into things she supposed.

Wait... he called her pretty?! She felt her cheeks warm. No one ever called her that! Her pink eyes flickered up to said bolf. He just wrinkled his nose and continued to watch from his perch. Clearly, he didn't view the tah as a threat any longer.

"I guess," she started slowly, "I could be called a klutz too? Based off that description. I get easily side tracked. But I can't help it sometimes!" Her gaze returned to the tah. "I just find myself inspired to dance all the time!" She flashed him a grin and leaped to her feet, twisting around on light paws in a twirl meant to show off her graceful features and wings. Then she found her paws falling into a fluid rhythm as she gave a short dance inspired by the night sky itself. When she finished her short dance, there was a gleam of excitement in her eyes. She didn't dance for strangers very often, but something about this kind tah made her feel comfortable enough to do so.

Panting lightly, she bowed her head. "I'm Neola. And that is my Shadow." She introduced herself properly.

When shyness all but gave way to excitement and she lit up in the moonlight filtering through the broken canopy of tree color, he couldn't help but sit up a little straighter, nodding at her question. "Lucky me, to have run into someone who knows Catrum de Drac then?" He prompted lightly, his voice good natured.

Seeing the awe in her eyes as he talked about the place that had never been home almost made him want to take her there; just to see the look in her eyes when she looked upon it herself. She was so open and expressive, he couldn't help but be fascinated and transfixed as she bounced from thought to thought.

As the conversation wound down a little bit, and she tested the word klutz, he untwined his tail, letting it curl and uncurl at the tip in an entertained fashion. "I've come to learn being a Klutz is not so bad... besides, it makes life unbelievably interesting." He chuckled.

When the smaller nan flashed him a grin and began to move and sway, twist and turn, an image of grace and and lightfootedness, he was admirably distracted and left searching for words, though he hadn't noticed that in the time that she displayed her little dance, he had begun to hum a soft, sweet tune that sounded like starlight, reflecting off of a watery surface.

"That was- I mean... wow. I've never seen anything like it before." Unable to say something intelligent that wouldn't sound rediculous, he cleared his through. He certainly wouldn't call her a Klutz after seeing something like that.

"Neola~?" Her name danced over his tongue as surely as she had been dancing just moments ago. "My name is Cicero. It's a pleasure to know you. Ah, both of you," He added, nodding his head to Shadow.

The bolf had all but dismissed the two b'alam as his bonded began to do that funny thing where she moved a lot in what to him, was confusing patterns. He settled himself more firmly on the branch with his eyes lazily scanning around, every now and then shifting to regard Neola or the tah.

Neola just grinned sheepishly at the tah. Dancing always made her feel so light and free! And most importantly, she enjoyed sharing that with others. His reaction just made it more worthwhile and the purple nan laughed softly. "Thank you! I probably couldn't recreate it exactly." She admitted. "Most of the time it's spur of the moment. But I really love practicing and just letting my paws lead the way!" She was babbling a little while the poor tah seemed to be unable to find the right words. Not that she really noticed.

"Cicero?" She tested the name out, tilting her head to the side slightly, ears falling into a relaxed state. "It's wonderful to meet you, too!"

Shaking her body, wings extending to their full extent before resettling, Neola padded closer to the tah. "Since you were kind enough to watch my dance, I'd be happy to show you some of Castrum de Drac?" She was just in a giddy mood, though there were faint pullings lethargy in the back of her mind. She had not fed recently, being so distracted with her own wanderings and strange dances. But there was still enough energy in her to do a brief tour!

His fur rippled as he stepped closer, feathers relaxing back into place as he rubbed his wings together to warm them. His whiskers untwined as he shook himself out and he stood a little taller. He felt less sheepish as the minutes ticked by in her presence.

She was easy to be around, and she didn't make him feel uncomfortable, or foolish as most others did. He stood beside her, shoulder to shoulder and he tilted his head as she offered him a tour. "The delight was mine," he said with an easy smile, leaving no room to doubt the sincerity of his words. "The sun is climbing now, Is this not the time when those who reside within Sleep?" he asked curiously.

He was not necessarily adept at reading others, but he was not unaccustomed to gleaning what those around him might need. Whether it be a laugh, a sturdy shoulder, an ear, or rest. Despite her liveliness, his limited knowledge of her race prodded the back of his mind. He offered genuine concern, and interest in her well being.

"Truth be told, I hoped I might find reason to stay awhile. I'm told many of my kind find purpose among yours." He didn't necessarily know what that purpose was, but he was the living embodiment of curiosity. He had no idea that some of his kind lived as donors to their race, not that the idea would put him off.

"Though," He amended, "We'll have to get back to Castrum de Drac before anything else." He realized with a light chuckle.

A small giggle escaped as she gently nudged him in a playful manner with her wing before padding along towards the cave entrance she'd come from. "Some of us might sleep now, yes." She replied with a light tone. "But not all. We don't really need much sleep." Neola glanced back at her new friend. "That's thanks to the Blood-Givers."

From his perch in the tree, Shadow gave a "scree" of protest at his bonded leaving so suddenly before the bolf took flight and kept pace above the two b'alam.

Giving Cicero the chance to absorb what she'd said, Neola grinned cheerfully. "Blood-Givers are our cherished ones that donate blood. My kind feeds on blood. Because of our unique diets, we don't sleep as much as other b'alam." She paused, pace slowing as her face wrinkled in a slight frown. "At least, this is how it has been explained to me." But that's what her father had been! And he was happy.

Resuming her pace with a bounce in her step, she lead the way to the cave entrance. She twirled around in a fancy flourish to meet the tah face to face as she gave a grand bow. "Welcome to Castrum de Drac!" Her pink eyes were bright as she turned and continued through the entrance of the large, ominous structure.

"As you might have guessed, it's dark down here. Not bright like the sunshine above. I'll be sure you don't run into anything." She promised, excited to show the tah her home underground.
