There were days when she was still confident that she could raise them both into fine young Nightmares on her own, but then there were days like today when a little help wouldn't go amiss. And she was adult enough to admit to herself that it wasn't just parenting help she was looking for. She loved her girls; they were the bright spots in her days. But the hybrid was lonely in a way that little ones could not fix. She wanted a partner, someone she could share her life with, someone she could lean on for support and who could count on her to be there for them as well.
Someone who had children, or who liked children would be ideal, of course. As she thought about exactly what she was looking for, Dani picked up her laptop from the nearby table and opened up a dating and imbuing website she had heard a lot about lately. While imbuing wasn't her immediate goal, she would love to find someone compatible who loved children as much as she did. Crux and Maylis wouldn't stay freshlings forever, after all, and she loved them with her whole heart.
But there was still room in her life, in her heart. It was time, she thought with a small smile. It was time to make their family bigger. Later, when the girls were finished playing, she would talk to them about the possibility of bringing someone, or maybe a couple of someones, into their lives. She didn't want to put them through a revolving door of significant others/possible parents and wouldn't, no matter the cost to her own personal life. If she had to, she could wait until the girls were older. Or at least old enough to understand that there were things a single Nightmare needed from another adult.
Worry that her girls would think they weren't enough for her, or that loving someone else would mean she loved them less almost had her closing out the page and forgetting the whole thing. But there had been a reason she started this profile, and she would finish it. She hoped that Crux and Maylis wouldn't feel that way, and resolved to make sure they never had reason to doubt how much she loved them no matter how many others came into their lives.
She smiled at that thought and nodded to herself as she hit the submit button on her profile.
