Two more weeks and already the red, pink, white and gold trimmed abominations were decorating the halls of the school, although Alexandre wouldn’t exactly call it decorating. The pieces of paper, cut out like hearts, arrow carrying babies, and other such things were not adding to the appeal of the school's walls, they were nothing special. For some reason though people seemed to like them, the art department and it’s many students had produced the monstrosities and then had gone and decorated the school with them. It was a project he had managed to keep out of, he didn’t need nor want to attach himself to such horrid things.
Sniffing, his nose sticking itself up into the air, as he passed a few twittering girls he pushed the doors to the cafeteria open and headed for a table that was empty and away from others. Turning his attention to his school bag he set it on the chair next to his own, pulled his chicken caesar salad out and set it on the table.
He had an hour till his next class and he was hungry. If it weren’t for the need to eat he would not be in here right now. If the hallways were bad than the cafeteria was worse. With that cheap paper in red and gold hanging about in dipping ropes and heart shaped lanterns adding to the already horrid cut out hearts and diapered babies that covered the walls as well. Who thought that puking up various annoying colors was...cute? He honestly wasn’t sure but the school was having a dance the day before as well, so people could attend the dance and still do whatever they had planned on the actual holiday. He would be avoiding the dance at all cost, and avoiding anyone who dared to try and ask him.
He hated Valentine’s day.

A few minutes later Aiden walked into the cafeteria and made a V line to the lunch line to get a panini, bowl of pasta, and a small salad before scanning the vacant tables for a place to sit. It was on the far right side of the room that he had spotted his boyfriend sitting alone near the window. He hummed to himself thoughtfully before making his way over to the ashen blond.
“Hey,” The raven haired young man pulled the adjacent seat out from under the table and set his tray down before setting his bag on the seat next to him. “How come you didn’t text me?” He asked since it felt out of character for Alex to be sitting off by himself when he knew that Aiden didn’t have class till two today.

“Didn’t plan to be here.” He said while flicking his eyes about. The decorations and poster mentioning buying flowers, the money went to some fund raiser, had him narrowing his slate eyes. H really had a dislike for the day and thus far the day had remained unspoken between himself and Aiden, as it should. He hadn’t even brought up his birthday, he’d even avoided it the few times it had come up in the past. If it fell on any other day he would be ok with it, might even enjoy it. But he wasn’t so lucky.
“I came early to see a professor and couldn’t find them. I was hungry so decided on an early lunch.” Prodding at his salad with a fork he looked up at the other, hoping his mood wasn’t so easy to read and yet knowing it was. He couldn’t hide much and even less from Aiden. It was a wonder he managed to hide a whole war from him, as well as his participation in it.
