Leaving the Prytaneum

Chosen of the Prytaneum are not prisoners in this sanctuary. It is a place that is at their disposal, but they are not required to either live there or spend all their time there. The only time they are required to come is when they are called to action for great Epic Quests.

However, the Prytaneum is not settled in our reality but is, instead, slightly misaligned with our reality. It exists in Michigan, or something like Michigan, and while there are pathways through the woods to the south and west that can lead back out into the human world -- the main form of travel is the Hearth.

Hillgrove

There is one path marked out clearly through the woods, and this path leads to a small town in northern Michigan called Hillgrove.

Hillgrove is extremely dull -- a once-thriving agricultural town that has since fallen on harder times. The population is small, fewer than 3,000 people, but it has all standard amenities that Chosen might need. This includes a supermarket, a big box store, a fast food burger joint, a Chinese restaurant, a pizza place, one "fine" restaurant that's actually pretty mediocre, a bar, and a train station.

It's a long walk, about forty-five minutes, and Chosen are strongly encouraged to stay on the path, as wandering off into the woods can be incredibly dangerous. However, it's quite beautiful, and the best way to bring supplies back for fun at the Prytaneum. It might be wise to invest in a bike or a cart...

Travel via Hearth

Travel via Hearth is genuinely as simple as walking through Hestia's flames, a blue-green fire created by the Goddess herself in the fire pit outside the main Hearth building. This fire can transport anyone who walks through it from one place of hospitality to another anywhere in the world -- assuming they're Chosen, and have the protection of a God, as all heroes at the Prytaneum should. Non-Chosen who step into the flames are burned, and might even die.

However, there are some restrictions placed on Hearth travel.

> While Chosen can travel home as much and for as long as they like, there is a cool down of one week between trips out. This means that if they go home on a Monday, stay through Friday and then come back to the Prytaneum, they can't go out again until the following Monday.

> Travel anywhere aside from home, as of this point, requires Max's approval. Travel via Hearth isn't a toy that Chosen can use to explore far reaches for fun. There must be a purpose to any travel aside from home that furthers the goals of their God; otherwise, they must use more human methods of getting there.

As a final note, keep in mind that it must be between places of hospitality. This might include:

> A Chosen's home will always serve as a portal for them.
> Anyone else's home if they are invited and welcome.
> A Hotel, B&B or Restaurant, usually via a fireplace or the kitchen.
> A hospital or a clinic.
