Another day, another night about the park while on patrol. Cadmus had perched himself atop the highest tree in the whole area to observe the going-ons of Destiny City. Despite that late hour of night, he was surprised to see how busy the bustling urbia could be, and he drew a sigh inwards when he realized that he wasn't among the likes of them actually doing something.
Have I gotten lazy? the chibi thought, leaning against the branch and looking up to the clear night sky. Stars twinkled likes diamonds strewn across a blanket of velvet. Since upgrading to super, things just feel so... boring now.
It wasn't that he wanted excitement (okay, maybe; he wouldn't lie there), but at the same time, his powered life was now akin to a video game he played too many times and was now bored of.
If only something would happen.
Pushing those thoughts to the wayside for now and opting for a walk about the park, Cadmus stood, and clambered his way down to the last branch of the tree. Just as he reached the bottom, something dropped from his pocket and clattered against the sod, spooking him. He frowned when he saw it to be his senshi phone.
"Oh, this old thing," he said, as if talking to it. Upon picking it up, he frowned at the screen. "I forgot I even had this thing. It's kinda sucks, huh? The last time I used it was to go to my homeworld." He looked up to the sky. "And that was like... forever ago."

Evening had found Liryn padding through the trees of the park.
It had a been a while since the small tabby bob-tailed mauvian had ventured through this particular park, however it had a grassy knoll that was located up above the children’s playground which made for a good vantage point.
It was strange not having Athene around, Liryn having gotten used to either patrolling with the dark-haired eternal or seeing him around the apartment...
But Athene was up on a plane somewhere - well at least he thought that Arian, Athene's civilian counterpart might be up on a plane somewhere - and he was staying with the twins.
And even with Athene temporarily gone, Liryn still had patrol duty.
He felt the aura first, paws stilling briefly.
It had felt like a super senshi aura - a chibi super senshi.. And it had felt close - very close.
He had heard the clatter next followed by the sound of a nearby voice and it had been enough to have him decide to divert from his original planned destination of the knoll in favour of trying to track down the source of the aura instead.
It hadn't taken him long, the source of the aura turning out to be a pink-haired boy staring at the phone.
Liryn padded closer before calling out cheerfully "Hi."Unoderi It's perfect - hope this works too

The greeting sent a jolt of fear through the chibi and he had to press a gloved hand to his mouth to stop the yelp that dare rip from his throat. It seemed to be trend—a running gag even—for Cadmus to be frightened out of his wits while patrolling in the late of night. He was getting a bit tired of it, but it never seem to let up. Ever.
Swallowing back his scream, he took a breath, and looked down to the guardian cat. His features brightened at it, but his heart still pounded from the fright it gave him.
"Hiya," he said, smiling. "You're a guardian cat, right? Man, it's been forever since I've seen one of your kind, too." Cadmus let out a sigh. "What're you doing around these parts? Looking for someone?"

Liryn found himself pausing at what felt to be a long pause, following his cheerfully voiced greeting as a part of him found himself wondering if the pink-haired boy chibi super was perhaps not wanting any company.
But before Liryn could come to any decision on whether he should pad on with his wanderings, the other's face brightened into a smile.
"Yes I'm a mauvian" he said cheerfully. "And I was pretty much wandering and keeping an eye out for things before I picked up on your aura."
His purplish eyes drifted to the phone being held in the chibi super's hand for a moment before looking back up as he continued "I'm Liryn and I can't help but notice that you have one of the old senshi phones."

"Oh, oh, so that's what you were doing. I didn't think guardian cats also did the thing. The patrolling thing. I thought you guys just... napped all day." He gave a small, sheepish laugh. "Though I guess it does make sense if you're looking for senshi to awaken or upgrade or whatever, heh."
Red eyes glanced upon the same device in his hand, causing Cadmus to hold it up and twiddle it.
"You mean this thing? Yea, the, um, the... Augh, I forgot his name." He curled his index finger and hit the knuckle on his forehead as he tried to recall the cat who awakened him. Unfortunately, his attempt came to no avail. "Anyway, it was given to me when I became a senshi, but I haven't put it to much use. Just to, like, go to my homeworld. Is there something wrong with it?"

"Well I can't speak for the other mauvians" Liryn admitted cheerfully "But I do patrol."
Because whilst naps were nice and even more so when the weather was sunny and warm, there was a time and place for them.
A cheerful wink "And not just to awaken senshi."
He turned his attention back to the phone as he admitted "There isn't anything wrong with the phone that you have per se and it does the job - but the new model is sooo much better and has a bit more features that your current version doesn't have."
He was perhaps biased in his preference for the smartphone model of senshi phone, having become an instant convert ever since the night that Ash had taught him how to do it.
"I can upgrade yours for you" his cheerful voice was hopeful as he looked up at Cadmus and added "At least I can if you want me to."

There was a glitter to Cadmus's eye then. So guardian cats could do more than just awaken senshi? He opened his mouth to inquire of what exactly that was, but his attention turned back to the mention of his phone, and the questions fell to the wayside.
Upon mentioning Liryn could upgrade his phone, Cadmus nodded his head vigorously as, in some way, it answered a question of his. "Oh, really?" he cried. He presented the old model to the cat. "Go ahead and work your magic, then!"

"Sure" Liryn said cheerfully, although he didn't move to do anything with the phone that Cadmus had handed over - at least not immediately.
Instead he got to his feet and launched himself into a rather credible backflip.
There was a small clatter as something fell and Liryn padded over to it once he was back on the ground and carefully picked up the object in his mouth before padding back over to the phone that Cadmus had given him and laying the object next to it.
Cat paws weren't shaped for prising up phone backs but Liryn managed, carefully using his claws to prise up and off the back of the phone that Cadmus had given him before turning his attention to the 'object'.
An object which looked very much like a smart phone.

Cadmus blinked at the impressive somersault that cat made, albeit it was one out of confusion. Was Liryn showing him a trick? Did he suddenly feel inclined to snatch an unseen bug out of the air or something?
The light clatter alerted the chibi and he could only bend down to the cat to get a better look at whatever he offered. Upon seeing the smart phone, Cadmus's eye sparkle.
"Whoa," he said. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! That was super cool! I didn't know you guardian cats could do that!"
He suddenly wondered if guardian cats could spawn other things. Laptops? Refrigerators? An airplane? The sky seemed the limit at this point!
"So, like, I'm guessing this is like an upgrade to that sucky phone?" he asked, pointing down to the smart phone. "'Cause if it is I, like, have no words. That's just awesome."

Liryn had been working on prising the back up and off the smart phone but he looked up at the sound of Cadmus' voice.
"We have a few tricks up a sleeve" he said cheerfully with a wink before turning his attention back to the phones.
Well specifically Cadmus' soon to be former phone as he carefully rooted around the phone with a paw before delicately extracting a part.
"Yep it's an upgrade" he said "A couple of us - Ash and ********* are the ones who came up with it - but Ash taught me what to do."
He snapped the part that he had extracted from the other phone into place in the smartphone as he spoke and then picked up the back of the smartphone and pushed that back in place too.
"The new model is so much better than the previous one though" and he really did think so - although Liryn was perhaps biased.

Cadmus's mouth drew to a small O as he watched the guardian cat work his magic. Watching the feline root around in the phone was an interesting feat, though what occurred completely went over his head. Yet, from what he could observe, there seemed to be a fine line between magic and technology. At least for the senshi.
"So you're saying you and some other guardian cats did all this? I mean, making the phones better? That's too cool." He craned his neck over the phone to get a better look at it. "I mean, it even looks better. I would ask how they and you figured all of this out, but, uh, it's probably too complicated for me, heh."

"Well Ash and ********* did the actual figuring out" Liryn admitted "But the new phones are so much cooler than the previous version."
He absently vanished the remains of Cadmus' previous phone into his subspace pocket.
"By the way there's a distress signal app under settings - that's the one with the cog. It acts as a back up call for help and can be useful to use if you're ever in a really tight spot."
Ash had made that app too, although Liryn was hoping to create his own app some day.
Some day... He was still working on it.

Cadmus was still amicably impressed; guardian cats really were smart! He turned over the phone in his hands, nodding his head in approval at the detailing and color. It sure looked better than his previous phone.
As he thumbed through apps, he nodded at Liryn and said, "That'll definitely come in handy, if I ever have to use it." He gave a cheeky smile. "But I doubt I ever will, Negas know not to mess with me." Cadmus only said it as a joke, but he was aware of the dangers that lurked. He'd have to use it if he was ever in trouble.
"Anything else I should be aware of?" Cadmus asked, tilting his head. "Some of these are kinda obvious—like this one to go to the Moon and this to my homeworld—but any other functions? Like, a tractor beam to destroy youma? Holographic display?"

"Well it's there to download from settings if you ever need it" Liryn agreed, adding "Although on the topic of settings you should probably check it periodically from time to time in case there's anything new there."
He chuckled at Cadmus' question "No not quite a tractor beam, but the blue app with the book is the senshi primer, which has information on quite a few topics and the red app is the Negaverse database although it's horribly outdated."
He paused for a few moments in thought "Oh and there's a GPS that can scan for auras - including Negaverse ones and it's got a range of around half a mile or so - that one's the orange app with the location signal."

As Liryn mentioned each app and their fuction, Cadmus thumbed over each one to briefly check them out. Despite not having met most of those listed on the senshi primer and the outdated information in the Negaverse database, the senshi was impressed with the lot of information collected over who knows how long. In the base of his stomach, he hoped to contribute to both some day.
The GPS remained on screen as he swiveled around, looking to find anyone within range, but it seemed to only pick up himself and the guardian cat beside him. Nevertheless, he found it to be the most useful of the bunch, and affirmed this with a nod. "Oh man, this is going to make patrols so much easier," he said. "N-not that I am going to confront a Nega or anything, but avoid them, y'know? Thanks a lot, Liryn. I can't say that enough; this is great!"
