Uzoamaka frowned. Her saddle definitely wasn't sitting right on her. That was a problem. She was due to be back at the caravan within a couple days and knew she was supposed to take a human passenger for the duration of the trip. Humans liked saddles, most humans, anyways. Bringing her own saddle was one of the conditions of her employment. She wouldn't dare put a human in an unstable saddle, and would be turned away if she had no saddle of her own.
She needed to find someone to repair it and she needed someone fast. She'd heard that there was a handy group of raccoons in the area. She preferred human work to raccoon, but she'd take anyone with nimble hands if they could work quickly. The only problem was that... she couldn't find them. Their group was apparently somewhat nomadic and there was no sign of the raccoon band at the campsite where she'd been told they'd be staying. She was no wandering somewhat at random, growing ever more frustrated by the moment. She knew her chances of finding them this way was slim. She had to find someone, someone who knew the area a little better than she did.

It was summer, but as far as Hikaru was concerned, it might as well be the depths of winter. It was gray in her heart even if it was still verdant and green in the rest of the world. She hadn't spoken to Venticello since her disastrous attempt at being honest with her feelings for him. She'd told him that she loved him and he'd reminded her that he had a lifemate. They'd been best friends. She hoped they could be something more. Now, instead of having him as a mate, she suspected she'd lost him as a friend. She wanted to cry whenever she thought about it, which was basically every moment. She'd done a lot of crying since that afternoon.
Gloomily, she sat in the grass in the sun. It was a pleasant enough place to sit. No one much used that path, and no one had bothered her yet. She heard hoof steps down the trail and studiously ignored them. If it wasn't Venticello coming to beg her forgiveness and proclaim his love, she really couldn't care less.

Uzoamaka was just about to turn around and try another direction when there- she spotted someone! She immediately hurried her pace, trotting over to where the flutter mix lay weakly in the grass. Uzo blinked. "Are you all right?" she asked. She had her own urgent mission, but something was seriously wrong with that flutter. She wasn't going to leave a sick soquili by the side of the path just because she had an errand to run.

"No, I'm not. I'm really not," replied Hikaru flatly. She was done with pretending to be fine for the sake of other people. She definitely wasn't going to put on false pretenses when it was some random mare she'd never seen in her life. Let the mare know how miserable she was. She didn't care. She deliberately stared off in another direction, not looking at this intruder into her sorrow.
"But you can't help. Just leave me alone." She knew she was being petty, but didn't exactly care at the moment.
