Connecting Land Routes:
Pallet Town, Viridian Forest, Kanto: Victory Road
xXx xXx
Viridian City is a small city located in western Kanto. Team Rocket's leader Giovanni used to serve as a ground type specialist gym leader for the Viridian Gym, but he has long since disappeared without a trace. Blue is the current Gym Leader and trains Pokémon of various types. Many beginner trainers will often mistake Blue's gym as the first badge gym of Kanto, but in truth he is the eighth. His gym's interior style is simple but flashy, there are no tricks, just a dirt battleground which the challenger can approach from the front door, and a platform area for Blue to be raised up into the spotlight for his battle.
Three major paths lead from the city center. To the north is Route 2, which leads to Viridian Forest, a challenging maze for trainers wanting to get to Pewter City. To the south is Route 1, which leads to Pallet Town, and to the west is Route 22, leading to Indigo Plateau and the Pokémon League. Many beginning trainers will stop by to take a look, but no one can actually make their way inside before they have all eight Kanto gym badges.
