Push.

All she did was push.

This time, in the literal sense, pushed him off a cliff. Whether she did it on purpose or not, he couldn't tell. But all he knew was that he was in mid-air after their spar-training. To the death. Blood began to rise above his head. His jaw that was spread just slightly. His vision blurred as he saw her image get smaller, and his name was called out, but it all went dark.

Jabari was quick to scale down the cliff and arrived moments later. Quickly she checked on a pulse, looked around for any danger before she gave him a once over for anything broken. There was nothing completely broke that she could see, so she turned tail and began to climb back up. Although she was older now, she needed to show her cubs, and push them to greatness. Maybe it was her training back when that taught her this kind of cruelty. She loved her wife, and loved her kids, that's all she knew, but she wanted them to thrive and survive, even if it means being cruel to make sure of it.

The cliff was a ways from the pride, and it had been the same cliff that she had to climb to prove her worth to her father. Instead of sparring on the cliff side, or waited til she was Seve's age, her father threw her when she was just a cub.

"If you are my daughter- you will survive."

She wondered back then, why her father had been so cruel.
Did she too, push Seve too hard? No, he is much older, much more capable than she was as a cub. He would survive, she was confident. Her ears slid back, as she looked about for inner confirmation. She didn't mean to push him, but it was now her tradition to fight her cubs at the cliff edge for their training. Seve's twin didn't fall- he kept up with her sparring til they had a draw. Why couldn't Seve do that? Why did he fall!?

She dug her claws in to the ground and roared..

Turning back and yelled down at the cliff's edge-
"SEVE- GET UP AND CLIMB THIS DAMNED CLIFF!"

There was a silence...

"SEVE!"

A sound echoed back, almost as if he had moved, which confirmed to her that he would make it. A sigh of relief came over her, and calm lead her to walk away. She would prepare a feast in his honor of climbing the cliff... She was confident of him.

Night came, and still no Seve.
Jabari was making his bed, more furs that they had skinned from their meals.

A thought came to mind,
"he should have been back by now."

It didn't take her long to scale that cliff, not even as a cub.
"I will be back..." Her voice was low as she went back to the cliff's edge, taking about thirty minutes to get there. With each step, grew heavier...

"Seve..." Her voice started low, then grew with desperation the closer she got.
Blood claw marks all over the cliff's walls. Parts of it looked broken and below were masses amounts of rocks. His weight must have been too much... Desperately she slid down. Blood as if something had attacked him, patches of fur ridden everywhere.

"Seve! SEVE!" She yelled out, and echoed throughout the bottom of the pit...
Maybe she missed him- maybe!?

She began to scale up the cliff once more. With haste in her step, she knew they way up, but did he? All around, there were no more foot prints... but the winds here could make anyone's prints disappear.

"Seve!"

Death.

Was a simple task, he could have died down there.
He tried to scale the cliff, but all that happened was brought hyenas to his location.

'Well- well! What have we here! A lion stuck in a hole~'
'Yea yea-! Stuck in a HOLE!'
'Dumb Dumb lion- Dumb Dumb!'

They laughed to each other and they scaled down the cliff and fought him. Close quarters. Blood was spilt but no deaths as all four of them tried to scale out of the cliff. Hatred. Fear. Desperation. Anxiety.

Then, something happened.
A huge figure jumped in, and bashed in to hyenas, knocking the winds out of them. The lion was shrouded in darkness and to his dismay the rainbow male lost too much blood and too tired to get up the cliff, he fought him to get him to stay down but all the rainbow male did was fight... and fight til finally he passed out.

With much difficulty, the shadowed lion tried to scale the cliff with the rainbow male upon his back. He slid down, and fell quite a few times before he finally made it out. He wondered how the male got here but it wasn't at all uncommon. These parts, cubs and kits would die of starvation and thrown to their deaths.

He walked a long time.

Seve was dropped down upon a sea of flowers.
Another character, this one, much smaller.

"Good heavens!"

Then the shadowed lion disappeared...

Revive Me.

Lulu tightened the bandages once more, which abruptly woke up the near dead lion.

"Woah!?"

"Hush- Lay down." A soft voice spoke...

"You could have died, your wounds are pretty large, even for a lion to survive." A blunt voice spoke.

Seve replied with a pain ridden voice. "Where am I?"

"On the flower bed near the great waterfall. You are lucky my daughter found you..." Lulu looked over at her daughter that had her paws around the lion's paw. Then she lifted her paw to touch his head, her face was angelic and soft. Definitely that from heaven.

"Hi, my mother is a the best wit-"
"Oath."
"Sorry mother..."

She looked at the lion softly. "You are safe now, she is the best healer."
Giving him a nod as she gently petted his head.

"He can get up now, plenty of rest, but these furs and medicine will hold him over. Now release him to the wild."

"Mother can-"
"No."

The cheetah whom was, from what Seve could understand 'mother' had a skull upon her head and feathers spouting from the back. Nothing like her daughter what so ever.

"Ah..."
"She means well."

The lime green cheetah spoke with honesty.
"I can stay with you til you are healed. Are you hungry?"
She turned over and brought a net of fish in to view.

"Ah.. no thanks.." The rainbowed lion shook his head.

Is this how Hybrids are made?

He awoke that night, with fear ridden in his body as he remembered being thrown off the cliff. A cold sweat came, and a warm, small and delicate paw reached for his face.

"Shuuu...." It had been by reflex that Chihiro touched him, and comforted him but she still had in fact been asleep.

He looked to her, putting his own paw on top of hers and watched her sleep.

For nearly a month, this cheetah hadn't left his side. He would wonder, where she really came from, if she was in a pride for not, but all she had in response was a smile. He wanted to hear stories but she had none to give. Her secrecy didn't matter, not when she cared for him in his darkest hour.
She was sweet to him, and became his crutch but it was time for him to journey home and he knew from her mother's reaction that she too- needed to go back to where ever they had came from. But there was this feeling he got when he saw her... he couldn't understand. The want to stay by her side, or miss her when she would go fish. All he had ever known was brotherly love- his culture was that of men but it was a she who tenderly so, like his rainbow mother that he was drawn to. She didn't ask questions, she simply cared for him and everything she did thus far had been completely selfless.

"Chihiro..?" He spoke up, and she immediately lifted herself from the de-scaling of fish.
"Yes? Lion?"
"Seve, remember?"
"Ah, yes-" She bowed her head. "Seve the lion, are you hurt? Are you ok?"

He smiled at how cute she was when she was concerned, and watched as she closed the gap between them and stood in front of him.

"No, I'm hurt- bad- see- come look." He tried to move his mane a little, acting as though his chest had been hurting.
As innocent as she was, she quickly closed the gap of personal space and looked intensively where his paws were, and was captured by her paw with one of his own and drew hers to her chest.

Just like that, she fell upon him and a warm lick touched her cheek. Her face reddened.

Did he, just kiss her?

She quickly faced up at him and he planted a kiss to her lips but she quickly drew herself back, scared even.

"What are you doing?!"
"I just-"
"I am-"
"Your...?"

Pulling herself away, and he held her paw tighter.

"Please don't go."

There was a pause, then he let go and she drew a few steps back.
"I would have, helped any creature-" She started, then softly rubbed her arm, casting her gaze away.

"Please don't kiss me..."
"I'm sorry..." He quickly added. "I didn't mean to offend, I just-"
"Just...?"
"I just, thought... you cared-"
"I do but you were dropped off to me, and my responsibility, I couldn't just let you die. Not when the gods watch upon us. For your own and my own salvation, I can never leave a creature in the condition you were in."

Seve grew silent for a moment, then looked down to her paws, his face was painted red of embarrassment.

Chi's face turned from confusion to concerned as she slowly sunk to his side, but with some cautious space between them.
"I once grew feelings for someone, because I thought they cared- they showed me over and over again that they did... until I realized it was their job. By duty..."

He listened to her story intensely.
"Does this hold true for you too? Do you think I care just because you cared for me? Can you honestly tell me that the times we laughed, the times we exchanged thoughts and chimes we sung- all that was apart of your job?"
"No, not all of them but, would you stay calm until you have healed if I were any other way?"
"....."
"I'm sorry... Maybe me healing you- you could have gotten confused or-"
"Sorry...? Don't be." He looked at her. "I'm not confused." The stern of his voice was apparent, growing upset now. "Does being sick give you the fleetingness in your chest? When you go off and fish, all I can think about is getting better so you don't have to fish. I could bring it to you. I see you mixing your herbs- and it makes me want to go out and get them for you instead of you going out miles to find the right herbs to heal me." He was hurt, and all he could do was get more worked up as he spoke, he wanted to get through to her.

"If it was just tripping over you because you healed me, I would have left by now. I could have walked a week ago, back to my lands, but I stayed... because when I got up to leave and turned my back to see you. I felt wrong, and when I laid beside you once more... that, felt right."

"Lion, ....Seve.." She extended her paw and he moved away.

"Your laugh, I want to be the cause of it. I get you can't tell me about where your from and all. But I don't care because I want to be apart of you but I'm sorry if you think that is confusion!"

Chihiro's ears flattened, as she instinctively now, lowered her head. Feeling hurt, and wrong.. The more he spoke, the memories flooded back to this last month. She danced for him- a dance of worship to what she learned from those that worshiped the goddess of confusion. He laughed at her. It was odd but cute- and she remembered laughing with him. He would tell her stories of his land and the crazy antics that he and his twin used to get in to. She wondered if she and her twin would have done the same if they were boys. He was right, they did share good memories. Helping to get him to see the sunset. Getting caught in the rain- when she tried to teach him to fish.

"Seve..."

She tried to speak but her throat got caught up and knotted.

"Leave."
"Seve, wait-"
"I said leave."

She lowered herself fully to the ground.
A roar sounded- and nearly jumped out of her skin. Taking to her feet and side stepped. Looking at him with hurt in her eyes. When she tried to get closer, he turned around and roared again so strongly that quickly made her hit her heels and run...
